If you’ve been waiting for a reason to jump back into Azure Latch, this update is definitely one of the bigger gameplay patches we’ve seen recently. Instead of only adding a new style, the developers have also reworked Barou’s T Special, adjusted several popular characters, introduced input buffering, changed how the donation leaderboard works, and even dropped a fresh redeem code.
Some of these balance changes may not look huge at first glance, but once you play a few ranked matches, you’ll immediately notice how different certain abilities feel. Yukimiya players will have to be more careful with their combos, while Barou players now have a much stronger T Special with multiple unique interactions.
Here’s everything worth knowing from the latest Azure Latch update.
Azure Latch New Code
The developers released one new redeem code alongside the update.
Working Code
- BAROUTSPECIAL
Redeem it as soon as possible since update codes don’t usually stay active forever.
Yukimiya Finally Joins Azure Latch
The biggest headline of the update is the arrival of Yukimiya. Alongside the new character, the developers also spent time balancing his abilities before they become too dominant in ranked matches.
Rather than making him an easy scoring machine, the update rewards players who understand proper positioning and timing. Several of his strongest attacks now require more commitment, making mistakes easier to punish.
Barou Gets a New T Special Rework
Barou players received the biggest gameplay upgrade in this patch.
The new Apex Predator T Special changes depending on which move you’re using, making it much more versatile than before.
T During Long Shot
Using T while performing a Long Shot now adds a slight curve to the ball.
This makes shots less predictable and gives goalkeepers a harder time reading where the ball will finish.
T During Stealth Shot
This version is much stronger.
Instead of a normal curve, Stealth Shot now becomes a fast and powerful curved strike that reaches the goal quickly while still bending around defenders.
T During King’s Path
Nothing changes here.
King’s Path continues functioning exactly like it did before the update.
T During Chop Dribble
This interaction is probably the most interesting.
Activating T during Chop Dribble immediately interrupts the dribble animation and converts it into a curved Long Shot, allowing experienced players to surprise defenders who expect another dribble.
Overall, Apex Predator now gives Barou far more offensive options instead of simply enhancing one move.
Donation Leaderboard Rewards Now Reset Every Week
The donation leaderboard system has been completely redesigned.
Instead of keeping the same rewards for long periods, the leaderboard will now reset every single week with different prizes.
The current reward rotation is:
- Week 1 — DawnWalker and MVP
- Week 2 — Ronaldo
- Week 3 — Messi (after the rework)
- Week 4 — Messi + DawnWalker
The cycle will continue rotating afterward.
This gives competitive players a reason to keep pushing every week instead of stopping after earning one reward.
Skill Builder Gets Several New Features
Content creators and players who enjoy making custom effects also received several quality-of-life improvements.
The Skill Builder now includes:
- Cleaner Afterimages
- Start Offset
- End Offset
- Easing Style options
- Easing Direction options
- Attached toggle to follow player movement
- UpdateDirection toggle to follow the player’s facing direction
These additions allow much smoother visual effects and better customization when creating skills.
Bug Fixes Worth Knowing
While balance changes usually get the spotlight, several annoying bugs were finally fixed.
Hiori Fixes
- Chilling Pass Flow Variant now passes the ball correctly in front of teammates instead of behind them.
- Counter ability now properly disables opponents.
Ranked Lobby Fix
Server lists for ranked matches have been fixed, making matchmaking more reliable.
Karasu Fixes
- Ability 1 Parry now correctly disables enemies for its full duration.
- Ability 5 no longer breaks the game if the target disappears.
These fixes should make ranked gameplay feel much smoother overall.
New Limited MVP Reward
A brand-new limited MVP cosmetic has been added.
The newest MVP is:
- Sparkle (HSR)
Since it’s limited, players interested in collecting exclusive cosmetics should grab it before it rotates out.
Yukimiya Balance Changes Explained
Even though Yukimiya is new, the developers immediately adjusted several abilities to prevent him from becoming overpowered.
Gyro Shot – Swordscrew
Several nerfs were applied.
Changes include:
- You must now wait 0.25 seconds before activating Swordscrew.
- Predator Eye combined with Gyro Shot has a longer startup.
- Swordscrew falls more slowly.
- The bounce after landing is weaker.
These changes reduce instant combo potential and make the move easier to defend against.
Lane Splitter (Drag Scissors Flow Variant)
The pivots between each dash no longer grant invincibility frames.
Previously, skilled players could chain movement while being extremely difficult to punish. Now defenders have more opportunities to stop the attack.
Street Tag
Both versions received distance reductions.
- Normal version: 110 → 85
- Frame 1 version: 115 → 110
This makes Yukimiya cover less ground, reducing his ability to instantly escape pressure.
Flow Activation
The hitbox for both activation variants has been reduced.
- 30 → 15
Players now need much better positioning instead of relying on oversized hitboxes.
Street Dribble Shot Variant
Shot Power decreased:
- 200 → 190
The reduction isn’t massive, but it slightly lowers Yukimiya’s scoring consistency from long range.
Barou Balance Changes Explained
Besides the new T Special, Barou also received multiple adjustments.
Long Shot (Stealth Shot)
Changes include:
- Brand-new animation
- Windup now matches the normal Long Shot
- Lower sound effects
- Less visual clutter
The move should now feel fairer while remaining dangerous.
Chop Dribble
Only the first half now contains counter frames.
The second half only provides invincibility frames.
This means opponents have a larger opportunity to punish mistimed uses.
King’s Path
If you cancel King’s Path into Chop Dribble without being tackled, you’ll now suffer 0.2 seconds of endlag.
This slightly tones down one of Barou’s safest combo routes.
Devour
Devour now rewards successful grabs more directly.
- Base Shot Power reduced from 179 to 160
- Gains +10 Shot Power for every player grabbed
- Maximum Shot Power reaches 180
Instead of always being powerful, Devour now scales depending on how effectively you use it.
Karasu Balance Changes Explained
Karasu received a mixture of buffs and nerfs.
Wing Arm Block
- Can no longer counter Flow abilities.
- Still counters Base abilities.
- Normal hits now stun instead of knocking enemies backward.
- Counter version still keeps its knockback.
This encourages smarter timing instead of blindly countering everything.
Corvine Feint
This move actually became easier to use.
Successful parries no longer require completing a Quick Time Event.
Simply activate the move again to perform the grab.
Successful hits also now grant invincibility frames, making follow-up plays much safer.
Raven Relay
Predictive passing now has a maximum range similar to Sae’s Magic Pass.
The pass indicator also updates dynamically depending on your movement direction, making accurate passes much easier.
Silent Steal (Ground Version)
Several nerfs were applied.
- Hitbox: 15×15×15 → 12×12×12
- Travel Distance: 77 → 70 studs
- Missing now adds an extra 0.3 seconds of recovery.
Players will have to commit more carefully before attempting steals.
New Goal Method
There’s also a new Flow mechanic.
Whenever your teammate performs a Flow Shot, they now consume 15% of their Flow Meter.
This prevents repeated Flow Shot chains during coordinated team play.
Otoya Nerfs
Otoya received two small but noticeable changes.
Kusarigama Slash
Missing now adds an extra 0.2 seconds of endlag.
Stealthy Steps
Also gains an additional 0.2 seconds of recovery when missed.
Neither change completely alters the character, but careless attacks are easier to punish.
Isagi Buff
Isagi players finally received a nice quality-of-life improvement.
Metavision (T Special)
Metavision now grants a 1.215× movement speed boost.
It isn’t an overwhelming increase, but it helps Isagi reposition faster during attacks and defensive rotations.
New Input Buffering Mechanic Explained
One of the most underrated additions in this update is the brand-new Input Buffering system.
If you’ve ever pressed a move just before receiving the ball and wondered why nothing happened, that’s exactly what this feature addresses.
Input Buffering allows certain abilities to be queued slightly before catching the ball or before another action finishes. As soon as the timing becomes valid, the move activates automatically.
At launch, Input Buffering works with:
- Every counter move in the game
- All Yukimiya dribbles
- Shidou’s Formless
For Shidou players especially, performing M1 into Formless should now feel much smoother and more responsive than before.
