If you’ve been keeping up with the latest Anime Final Quest update, you’ve probably already noticed that Goku Black is getting a lot of attention. The new update brings the Black Market, a new Goku-themed quest line, a raid, a teleport item, and, most importantly, the Goku Black Scythe.
And honestly, this weapon caught my attention immediately.
I jumped straight into testing it because a new weapon is one thing, but the real question is whether it actually feels good to use. Anime Final Quest is the kind of game where you’ll be throwing skills out constantly, so animations, cooldowns, movement, and how impactful each ability feels matter quite a bit.
After testing the Scythe and going through its complete moveset, here’s everything you need to know before deciding whether it deserves your time.
How to Get the Goku Black Scythe in Anime Final Quest
The Goku Black Scythe is one of the main additions tied to the new update. Alongside the weapon, the update introduces a new quest line and raid connected to the Goku Black content.
There is also a new teleport item, making it easier to get around the new content.
The exact acquisition process may depend on how the update’s Black Market and quest systems are functioning, especially since there can be bugs shortly after a major update. So if something isn’t appearing correctly for you, don’t immediately assume you’re doing the quest wrong.
The important part is that the Goku Black Scythe is the weapon you want to get your hands on if you’re interested in the new content.
Goku Black Scythe Trait – What Should You Roll?
Before testing the weapon, I wanted to see what kind of ability I could get on it.
After rerolling, I managed to get Superior Fort, and this is a seriously nice trait for a skill-focused weapon.
Superior Fort provides:
- 35% lower skill cooldowns
- 20% increased skill damage
- 20% increased immune damage
- 15% increased critical chance
That’s a pretty stacked combination.
The cooldown reduction is especially useful because this weapon revolves around its skills. You’re not picking up the Scythe just to swing the M1s around all day. You want to cycle through the abilities as quickly as possible.
So if you’re planning on using the Goku Black Scythe as a skill-heavy weapon, a strong trait can make a noticeable difference.
Obviously, don’t feel like you need to stop playing until you get the exact same trait I rolled. The main thing is getting a trait that complements how you actually intend to use the weapon.
Goku Black Scythe M1s
Let’s start with the basic attacks.
The Scythe’s M1 animations look pretty good. They’re not some completely insane, screen-filling attack, but they fit Goku Black’s weapon very well.
The attacks feel clean and have the right kind of scythe-swinging style you’d expect.
Personally, I liked the M1s.
They’re nothing that made me immediately say, “This is the craziest M1 in the game,” but they get the job done and look appropriate for the weapon.
And that’s perfectly fine because the skills are where the Scythe becomes much more interesting.
Black Kamehameha
The first major ability is Black Kamehameha.
Visually, the ability looks pretty cool, but this was actually one of the moves I was least impressed with during testing.
The attack doesn’t seem to travel in a perfectly straight-looking path, at least from what I could see while testing it. That made the ability feel a little strange.
I tried it several times because I initially thought something might have gone wrong with the animation or VFX.
It may simply be the way the effect is designed, but compared with some of the other abilities in Anime Final Quest, Black Kamehameha didn’t feel quite as satisfying to use.
That’s not to say it’s bad.
It works.
It just didn’t have the same impact I expected from a Goku Black-themed attack.
Divine Dimension Cut
Next up is Divine Dimension Cut, and this one is extremely quick.
Like, really quick.
You activate the ability and the attack happens almost immediately, which is something I actually like.
Fast abilities can be extremely useful in games like Anime Final Quest because you don’t always have time to stand around waiting for a long animation to finish.
Dimension Cut feels simple, fast, and easy to throw into your rotation.
It isn’t necessarily the flashiest ability in the kit, but the speed makes it useful.
Divine Slash Explosion
Then we have Divine Slash Explosion.
This ability lets you move around while using it, which immediately makes it more interesting from a gameplay perspective.
Being able to reposition while attacking is always useful, especially when you’re dealing with groups of enemies or trying to avoid attacks during a raid.
The visual effect also looks pretty clean when everything goes off.
My only issue with several of these normal abilities is that they don’t always feel as powerful as they look.
That’s an important distinction.
The VFX can look great on screen, but when you’re actually playing, you want that attack to feel like you just dropped something devastating on the enemy.
Some of the Scythe’s regular abilities don’t quite give me that feeling.
Divine Bomb
The next ability is Divine Bomb.
This one is much simpler.
It looks fine and does what you’d expect, but again, I didn’t get that huge impact from it.
This was basically my feeling with several of the standard skills: they look good, they work, but they don’t have quite the same punch that some of the other weapons and movesets in Anime Final Quest have.
That doesn’t necessarily make the Scythe bad.
It’s just something to keep in mind if you’re someone who really cares about flashy, powerful-feeling abilities.
The Goku Black Scythe Feels Better Once You Reach the Ultimate
This is where my opinion of the weapon changed.
The regular moves were making me think the weapon was somewhere around a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.
Then I finally got the ultimate ready.
And yeah…
This is where the Goku Black Scythe starts cooking.
Goku Black Scythe Ultimate – Zamasu Transformation
The ultimate introduces a completely new set of attacks, and this is easily my favorite part of the weapon.
Once the ultimate activates, you get the Zamasu-related moves, and the presentation is much more impressive.
The first thing I noticed was how clean the animation looked.
This felt much closer to what I expected from a Goku Black weapon.
Instead of the normal abilities feeling relatively straightforward, the ultimate actually gives you that “okay, this is a special move” feeling.
And that’s exactly what I wanted from the Scythe.
Rose Explosion
The ultimate gives you Rose Explosion, which looks really clean.
The visual effects are much more noticeable here, and the attack feels like it belongs in the ultimate portion of the moveset.
This was one of those moments where I stopped worrying about the weaker-feeling normal skills and started appreciating what the weapon was capable of.
The animation is one of the strongest parts of the kit.
Rose A Touch
The other major ultimate attack is Rose A Touch.
Again, this is another ability where the presentation really stands out.
The ultimate attacks have a completely different feeling compared with the regular moves, and that’s why I ended up liking the Scythe more after seeing the full kit.
If you’re buying or grinding for the weapon mainly because you want a flashy Goku Black moveset, the ultimate is definitely the part you’ll want to see.
Is the Goku Black Scythe Good in Anime Final Quest?
So, is it actually worth getting?
I’d say yes, especially if you’re a fan of Goku Black or want to collect the new weapons from the update.
But I’d separate that from saying it’s automatically the best weapon in the game.
The regular moves are my biggest complaint.
They look good, but several of them don’t have the same impact that I’ve come to expect from some of the other Anime Final Quest movesets. Black Kamehameha in particular felt a little strange to me, while Dimension Cut stood out because of how quickly it activates.
The ultimate, however, is a completely different story.
Once you activate it and start using the Zamasu/Rose abilities, the weapon becomes much more impressive.
My Rating for the Goku Black Scythe
After testing the entire moveset, I’d personally give the Goku Black Scythe around a 7.5/10.
Here’s how I’d break down the experience:
- M1s: Good and clean
- Black Kamehameha: Looks good, but the effect feels a little strange
- Dimension Cut: Very fast and useful
- Divine Slash Explosion: Nice visuals and movement
- Divine Bomb: Simple but functional
- Ultimate: Easily the highlight
- Rose abilities: Very clean and satisfying
- Overall: A strong new weapon, especially for Goku Black fans
The reason I wouldn’t give it a 9 or 10 is mainly because the normal skills don’t consistently have that powerful feeling.
But the ultimate definitely helps bring the weapon up.
