The latest update for Anime Vanguards is finally here, and Update 12.5 is honestly much bigger than most players expected. After a slower previous update that disappointed a lot of the community, this patch feels like the developers are finally adding content that players actually wanted. From brand-new units and memorials to a full spring event, guild improvements, and even a reworked Odyssey mode, there is a lot to unpack.
If you have not had time to read the full patch notes or cannot access the Discord server, here is a full breakdown of everything important added in Update 12.5 and what it means for players.
New Units Added in Update 12.5 Anime Vanguards
One of the biggest highlights of this update is the addition of six new units. The main featured Vanguard unit is Shinobi God, which is clearly inspired by Madara from Naruto. Even before seeing gameplay, the design and visual effects already look incredible, especially the shiny version.
The shiny variant has a darker color scheme that fits the character perfectly and honestly feels like one of the better shiny designs the game has released in a while.
Alongside Shinobi God, several other units were added through different systems and events:
- Kurumi from the World Line banner
- Might Guy
- Jiraiya
- Obito-inspired unit
- Ainz-inspired unit
- Another anime crossover character tied to the event
The update heavily focuses on Naruto-inspired content this time, and longtime anime fans will probably enjoy that a lot. The inclusion of Might Guy alongside Madara especially feels like a nice reference to one of Naruto’s most iconic fights.
How to Get the New Units
The new units are spread across multiple banners and game modes, so players will need to grind different content depending on which character they want.
Here is how the main units are obtained:
- Shinobi God (Madara) comes from the Spring Banner
- Kurumi is available through World Line
- Might Guy can be earned from the Spring Event mode
- Other event units are tied to the Spring Shop and event rewards
Might Guy is especially interesting because players need to survive until Wave 100 in the new Spring mode for a chance to obtain him. Even then, there is only a 20% drop chance, so getting him may take multiple runs unless you get lucky.
New Memorials Look Amazing
Update 12.5 also introduced seven new memorials, and honestly, this may be one of the strongest cosmetic sets the game has released so far.
The Madara and Kurumi memorial art especially stands out. Instead of overloading the images with effects, the artwork keeps things clean and stylish, which makes the characters look even better.
Kaguya also received a memorial, which surprised many players since not everyone expected older Naruto-themed units to receive new cosmetic support this quickly.
Even players who normally ignore memorials will probably want to check these out because the art quality is genuinely impressive this update.
Spring Event and New Endless Game Mode
The entire update revolves around a new Spring Event that introduces a special survival-style game mode.
Unlike standard stages, this mode focuses on surviving increasingly difficult waves for as long as possible. According to the event description, there is no final wave. The enemies continuously become harder, meaning your goal is simply to survive as long as you can while farming event currency.
This is likely going to become the main farming method for the update, especially for players grinding rerolls, event rewards, and limited items.
The event also introduces:
- A Spring Shop
- Event-exclusive rewards
- Event currencies
- Special unit drops
- Spring banners
One of the biggest things players noticed is that the update supposedly allows players to grind thousands of rerolls through the event, which could be huge for trait farming.
Odyssey Mode Got Reworked
Odyssey mode received a complete redesign, and it now has more of a roguelike progression system.
Instead of feeling repetitive and disconnected, runs now seem to focus on progressing room by room while building your setup over time. This could completely change how enjoyable the mode feels because many players previously avoided Odyssey altogether.
Roguelike mechanics usually work really well in anime tower defense games since every run feels different. If the balancing is good, this may actually become one of the best long-term game modes in Anime Vanguards.
Elemental Tower Skill Tree
Another major addition is the new Elemental Tower Skill Tree system.
Players can now earn permanent skill points by clearing floors across all Elemental Towers. These points can then be invested into upgrades that make future tower runs easier.
Some of the upgrades include improvements to:
- Damage
- Range
- Cost reduction
- Other tower-related stats
This is a massive quality-of-life improvement because higher tower floors were becoming extremely difficult for many players. Having permanent progression gives players more motivation to continue grinding instead of feeling stuck.
The system goes all the way up to Level 50 and requires a huge number of cleared floors to fully complete. Players who reach max level unlock the “Conqueror of All Elements” title.
Guild System Improvements
Guilds also received a surprisingly large overhaul.
Before this update, many players felt guilds barely mattered outside of basic social features. Now they actually provide meaningful progression and rewards.
Some of the new guild features include:
- Guild levels from 1 to 20
- Weekly buffs
- Donation systems
- Guild activity points
- Weekly guild bosses
- Competitive guild rankings
The new Guild Boss system looks especially interesting because players contribute damage scores toward a shared guild ranking. Top-performing guilds can earn exclusive titles, though players must continue qualifying each week to keep them.
This finally gives competitive guild players something meaningful to grind for.
Quality of Life Changes
One of the craziest parts of Update 12.5 is just how many smaller improvements were added. The patch includes over 65 quality-of-life changes and more than 300 bug fixes.
Some of the most important additions include:
- Memoria trading
- Dash movement
- Better inventory management
- Mount equipping improvements
- Custom level improvements
- Trait-related fixes
- UI changes
The addition of Memoria trading alone is huge because players can now exchange some of the rarest collectibles in the game instead of relying completely on RNG.
The new dash feature is also something players have wanted for a very long time, especially for faster lobby movement.
New Cosmetics and Bundles
Several new cosmetics and skins were added with the update as well.
Some skins look much better than others, but the standout cosmetic this update is definitely the Broly-inspired skin. The effects and overall design look extremely clean compared to older cosmetics.
The update also adds new mounts and bundle rewards for players who enjoy collecting limited cosmetics.
4 New Codes in Anime Vanguards Update 12.5
The developers also released four new codes alongside the update. These codes mainly give rerolls and other useful resources.
One of the codes reportedly gives around 150 rerolls, making this a very good update for players trying to farm strong traits or prepare for the new units.

Overall, Update 12.5 feels like a major improvement over the previous Anime Vanguards update. The last patch was criticized heavily for lacking meaningful content, but this one finally adds systems that feel worth grinding.
The Spring Event looks promising, the Elemental Tower skill tree adds long-term progression, and the guild overhaul gives active players more reasons to stay engaged every week.
Most importantly, the update simply feels packed with content. Between new units, memorials, events, cosmetics, and progression systems, there is a lot more to do this time around.
If the developers continue updating the game at this level, Anime Vanguards could easily regain momentum with the community again.
