Gems are some of the most useful items you can collect in The Veil, especially when you want to improve your weapons with powerful enchantments and special effects. While lower-tier gems are easier to obtain, getting Rare, Epic, and especially Legendary gems can require a lot more luck and Silver.
In this post, we will explain how you can unlock the gem rolling system, find the Shimmering Sanctum, reach Sky Island, and start rolling for different gem rarities. We will also go through the current roll prices and explain how you can use gems to enchant your weapons.
If you are specifically hunting for a Legendary gem like the Shadow Diamond, you should be prepared for plenty of random rolls. Let’s go through everything you need to know about getting gems in The Veil.
How to Find the Shimmering Sanctum
The first thing we need to do is find the Shimmering Sanctum.
This location can appear inside the Maze, and there does not appear to be one fixed route that always leads directly to it. You may need to spend some time exploring different parts of the Maze before finding the Sanctum.
If you already have a Radar, it can make navigation easier by helping you use the coordinates shown on your screen.
The Radar itself is a rare item that can be found while exploring, so not every player will have access to one immediately.
Once you finally find the Shimmering Sanctum, look for the NPC inside the area.
Speak with the NPC, and you will be asked to provide 1 Gem.
After giving the NPC a Gem, you can be teleported to Sky Island, also known as Sky Reach.
How to Reach the Gem Gacha
After arriving at Sky Reach, your next goal should be finding the TP Obelisk.
The teleport obelisk is located around the central section of the island.
Make sure you activate it as soon as possible.
This is important because activating the TP Obelisk gives you a much easier way to return to Sky Island later. Without it, you may have to repeat the process of finding the Shimmering Sanctum and speaking with the NPC again.
Once the teleport point is unlocked, start moving upward from the central part of the island.
The Gem Merchant can be found in the upper section of Sky Island.
This is where you can spend your currency to roll for random gems.
How Much Does a Gem Roll Cost?
The Gem Merchant gives you two options when rolling for gems.
You can either spend:
- 500 Silver for one random Gem roll
- 32 Robux for one roll
If you have already collected a good amount of Silver, using in-game currency can be the better option.
However, keep in mind that every roll is completely random.
Spending thousands of Silver does not guarantee that you will immediately receive a Legendary gem.
The Gem Merchant can give you several different rarities, including:
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
The higher the rarity, the harder the gem is to obtain.
The Veil Gem Drop Rates
The Gem Merchant displays different chances for each rarity.
The currently listed rates are:
- Uncommon: 60%
- Rare: 40%
- Epic: 10%
- Legendary: 1%
This means Legendary gems are extremely difficult to obtain through normal rolling.
The Legendary category includes rare gems such as the Shadow Diamond.
With a listed chance of only 1%, you may need to make many rolls before getting the Legendary gem you are looking for.
Because of this, I recommend saving plenty of Silver before visiting the Gem Merchant.
You do not want to arrive with enough currency for only a few rolls if you are seriously trying to hunt for a Legendary.
How to Get Shadow Diamond in The Veil
The Shadow Diamond is one of the Legendary gems available through the Gem Merchant.
Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed quest or special method that lets you obtain it directly.
The main way to get one is to continue rolling and hope you get lucky with the Legendary result.
Since the Legendary rarity has a 1% listed chance, patience is extremely important.
Having a large amount of Silver will make the process easier because you can keep rolling without constantly stopping to farm more currency.
If Shadow Diamond is your main goal, I would recommend building up your Silver first and then spending it during one larger rolling session.
This gives you more chances without interrupting your attempts every few rolls.
How to Enchant Your Weapon With a Gem
Once you finally get a Gem that you want to use, take it to the Blacksmith.
Make sure you have the weapon you want to modify ready.
From there, use the enchantment option and apply your chosen Gem to the weapon.
The effect you receive depends on the Gem you use.
Higher-rarity Gems can provide stronger and more interesting effects compared to lower-tier options.
For example, the Shadow Diamond can produce a powerful enchantment known as Shadow Lightning.
This enchantment can add effects involving:
- Lightning damage
- A short stun effect
- Shadow Fire
This makes Legendary Gems particularly valuable for players who are trying to improve their late-game weapons.
Best Way to Farm Legendary Gems
Getting Legendary Gems mostly comes down to two things: Silver and luck.
Here is the basic route you can follow:
1. Farm Plenty of Silver
Before worrying about Gem rolls, spend some time building up your Silver supply.
Each Silver roll costs 500 Silver, so your currency can disappear very quickly when you are unlucky.
The more Silver you save, the more chances you will have.
2. Find the Shimmering Sanctum
Enter the Maze and search for the Shimmering Sanctum.
Since there is no simple fixed route, focus on exploring and finding the landmark itself.
3. Give the NPC One Gem
Once you find the Sanctum, speak with the NPC inside.
Give them 1 Gem to unlock the route to Sky Island.
4. Activate the TP Obelisk
After reaching Sky Island, find and activate the TP Obelisk.
Do this immediately so you can return to the island more easily in the future.
5. Find the Gem Merchant
Head toward the upper part of Sky Island.
This is where you can find the Gem Merchant and begin rolling.
6. Spend 500 Silver Per Roll
Use your saved Silver to purchase random Gem rolls.
Each roll costs 500 Silver.
Keep rolling until you get the rarity and Gem you want.
7. Enchant Your Weapon
After getting your desired Gem, visit the Blacksmith.
Use the Gem to enchant your weapon and unlock its special effect.
Tips for Getting Better Gems
If you are planning to spend a lot of Silver on Gem rolls, keep these tips in mind:
- Save plenty of Silver before starting your rolls.
- Activate the TP Obelisk as soon as you reach Sky Island.
- Do not expect a guaranteed Legendary from a certain number of rolls.
- Remember that Legendary Gems have a 1% listed chance.
- Farm Silver before visiting the merchant instead of stopping after every few rolls.
- Decide which weapon you want to enchant before using a valuable Gem.
- Keep exploring the Maze if you still need to find the Shimmering Sanctum.
The most important thing is patience. Legendary Gems are designed to be rare, so unlucky players may need to spend considerably more Silver than others.
The Gem system gives players another important way to improve their weapons in The Veil.
Finding the Gem Merchant becomes much easier once you have unlocked Sky Island and activated its TP Obelisk. The real challenge is collecting enough Silver to make repeated rolls for higher-tier Gems.
The Shadow Diamond is one of the most exciting Legendary Gems because of the powerful Shadow Lightning enchantment it can provide.
If you want to start hunting for Rare, Epic, or Legendary Gems, begin by finding the Shimmering Sanctum, travel to Sky Island, unlock the teleport point, and save as much Silver as possible.
Just remember that Legendary Gems have a 1% listed chance, so getting the one you want may take plenty of patience—and a lot of Silver.
