The brand-new Shipwreck Region update has arrived in 100 Days at Sea, bringing a completely new area for us to explore, several island puzzles to complete, waves of skeleton enemies to fight, and a brand-new boss waiting at the end.

In this update, you will need to travel around the Shipwreck Region and deactivate several lighthouses. Each island has its own puzzle, so we had to complete different objectives before finding a Crystal Skull and using it to activate the next part of the challenge.

After completing all the islands, the force field protecting the final area disappears, allowing us to enter the boss arena and fight the Lich King. In this post, I’ll show you how the Shipwreck Region works, explain the puzzles I encountered, and tell you what rewards you can get at the end.

A New Code Gives You 20 Pearls

Before getting into the Shipwreck Region itself, there is also a new code available that gives you 20 Pearls. Make sure to redeem it if you haven’t already, especially since Pearls can always be useful for getting extra items and rewards.

Once you’re done with that, you can head into the game and start looking for the brand-new region.

How the Shipwreck Region Works

When the Shipwreck Region appears around your raft, you will notice several islands scattered throughout the area. These islands have large lighthouses, and each lighthouse is sending a beam of light toward a giant force field in the middle of the region.

That force field is blocking access to the final area, where the new boss is waiting.

So, we can’t simply sail straight to the boss and fight it. First, we need to visit the different islands and complete their puzzles. Each island has a platform in the middle, and once you complete the required puzzle, you can get a Crystal Skull.

The Crystal Skull is an important part of the process. You place it on the platform, fight the enemies that appear, and fill the bar connected to the skull by defeating them. Once the bar is full, the lighthouse for that island turns off.

You then repeat this process across the other islands until all of the lighthouse beams have been deactivated.

Digging Puzzle Island

The first island I visited had a digging puzzle.

There were several marked locations around the island, and we had to dig at these spots to find the correct location. While doing this, enemies could sometimes spawn, so you should be prepared to fight while searching.

Eventually, I found a chest, although it looks like the exact location may be random.

Opening the chest gave me a Crystal Skull. I then had to carry the skull to the platform in the center of the island and place it there.

Once you put the Crystal Skull on the platform, enemies start spawning from different directions. This is why I would recommend bringing plenty of ammo before starting these challenges.

As you defeat the skeletons, their souls go into the Crystal Skull. You will see a bar at the top that gradually fills as you kill enemies.

Once the bar is completely full, the lighthouse shuts down, meaning you have successfully completed that island.

Extinguishing the Lanterns Puzzle

The next island had a completely different puzzle.

This time, I had to find several lanterns located around different boats and extinguish them. There were around four or five lanterns spread across the area, so we had to move around and make sure every one of them was turned off.

After extinguishing all the lanterns, one of the beams connected to the island was deactivated.

I then found another Crystal Skull, which I took back to the central platform.

Just like before, placing the skull on the platform started another enemy fight. We had to defeat the skeletons, fill the skull’s bar, and once it was complete, the second lighthouse was turned off.

Grave Symbols Puzzle

The third island had a puzzle involving graves and symbols.

There was a large door with several symbols displayed on it. We had to look at those symbols and then find the matching signs on the graves around the island.

The important part here was activating the graves in the correct order.

Once I matched the symbols correctly and activated them, the large door opened. Behind it was a chest containing another Crystal Skull.

I took the skull back to the platform and placed it there.

Then, once again, enemies started spawning around the area. After defeating enough of them and filling the Crystal Skull’s bar, the lighthouse for this island was deactivated.

Raising the Flags Puzzle

Another island required us to activate several flags.

To raise each flag, you need to stand next to it and hold E. As you start activating the flags, skeleton enemies can occasionally spawn, so you need to be ready to stop and fight them.

I continued moving around the island, raising all of the flags and dealing with any skeletons that appeared.

Once all the flags were activated, I was able to get another Crystal Skull from the chest.

From there, the process was familiar. I placed the skull on the central platform, defeated the enemies that spawned, and filled the bar.

Once that was done, another lighthouse turned off.

Destroying Ships With Cannons

The final puzzle I encountered involved cannons and enemy ships.

There were markings on the ships that showed which targets we needed to destroy. We had to use the cannons on the island to shoot the ships and destroy the correct targets.

After successfully destroying them, the chest was unlocked.

Inside was another Crystal Skull, which I took back to the platform.

Just like the other islands, placing the skull activated a wave of enemies. We then had to keep fighting until the bar on the Crystal Skull was completely full.

Once this was finished, the final lighthouse was deactivated.

The Lich King Awaits

After completing all of the island puzzles and shutting down the lighthouses, you will get a message saying that the Lich King awaits.

This means the force field that was blocking the central area is finally unlocked.

When I entered the area, I found a large boss arena with a lighthouse and several massive chains around it. At first, I thought we might have to destroy the chains or complete another objective.

However, that isn’t what you need to do.

Instead, you need to reach the door in the arena to trigger the boss fight.

Once you do that, the Lich King appears.

How to Defeat the Lich King

The Lich King is the new boss in the Shipwreck Region.

Honestly, I didn’t find the fight too difficult. The boss has around 4,000 health, and the battle feels fairly similar to fighting some of the other bosses in 100 Days at Sea, such as the Magma or Volcano bosses.

As long as you come prepared with decent weapons and enough ammunition, you shouldn’t have too much trouble defeating him.

After defeating the Lich King, I received the boss badge. Like other bosses in the game, you can also get a shard from defeating it.

Necromancer Staff Reward

After defeating the boss and getting the required reward, you can open the chest in the area.

The main reward is the Necromancer Staff.

This is one of the big reasons to complete the entire Shipwreck Region, since you have to go through all the island puzzles and defeat the Lich King before reaching this reward.

Personally, though, I think the Fire Magma Staff is better and much easier to get. The Necromancer Staff is still a cool reward, especially if you want to collect the new weapons and try out the Necromancer playstyle.

The Shipwreck Region is a pretty interesting addition to 100 Days at Sea because it gives us more than just a simple boss fight. We actually have to travel between different islands, solve puzzles, fight skeleton waves, and deactivate every lighthouse before we can reach the final boss.

The puzzles can vary between islands, including digging for treasure, extinguishing lanterns, matching grave symbols, raising flags, and destroying ships with cannons. Once you understand the Crystal Skull mechanic, though, the overall process becomes much easier.

After completing everything, you can finally enter the central arena, fight the Lich King, and unlock the Necromancer Staff. So if you see the Shipwreck Region spawn around your raft, make sure you’re stocked up on ammo and ready for plenty of skeleton fights before heading in.
