After what felt like forever, Shindo Life has finally received a meaningful content update. While the developers have also been fixing several long-standing bugs, the biggest highlight is easily the brand-new Great Shindo War game mode.
If you’ve been away from the game for months—or even years—this mode is a great reason to jump back in. It offers wave-based combat, boss fights, and some solid rewards for players looking to farm Spins and RELL Coins.
Here’s everything you need to know before starting your first run.
What Is the Great Shindo War?
The Great Shindo War is a new PvE mission where you battle through multiple waves of enemies before completing the mission.
Think of it as a survival challenge mixed with boss encounters. You’ll fight groups of NPCs during the early waves, then eventually take on powerful Tailed Beast bosses before finishing the mission.
Unlike some older content, this mode keeps the action moving without requiring a huge time commitment.
A complete run usually takes around 5–10 minutes, depending on your build and how quickly you defeat the bosses.
How to Start the Great Shindo War
Getting into the mode is simple.
- Press L to open the Mission Board.
- Navigate to the Main Missions section.
- Select Great Shindo War.
- Join the mission and prepare for multiple enemy waves.
Once inside, enemies begin spawning almost immediately, so it’s worth setting up your loadout before entering.
Best Loadout for Great Shindo War
Since the mode revolves around defeating large groups of NPCs and powerful bosses, you’ll want abilities that excel in both crowd control and high single-target damage.
Elements
A strong recommendation is using Lava.
Its second move deals excellent area damage, making it much easier to wipe out groups of NPCs instead of fighting them individually.
If you don’t own Lava, don’t worry too much. Plenty of other AoE abilities can get the job done.
Recommended Bloodlines
One suggested option is Headless.
Its horse ability works well for clearing clusters of enemies while keeping you mobile throughout the fight.
Again, this isn’t mandatory. The mode is still very manageable with other Bloodlines as long as your overall damage is strong.
Must-Have Abilities
These abilities provide the biggest impact during the mission.
Worm Sage Mode
This mode offers strong overall combat performance and pairs nicely with most PvE-focused builds.
Reaper Spirit Summoning
This is arguably one of the most valuable abilities for the mission.
The summon can restore a huge amount of your health, allowing you to stay alive during longer boss fights without constantly retreating.
Recommended Weapons
For additional damage, consider bringing:
- Winter Avalanche
- Gen 3 ChoCho Weapon
- Spear of Apologies
These weapons help speed up both NPC clearing and boss fights.
Companion Recommendation
Using the Minakaze Companion provides additional support throughout the mission and can contribute extra damage while you’re focusing on larger enemies.
Better Build for Boss Farming
After testing the mode further, an even stronger setup emerged.
Instead of the original build, switching to:
- Shadow C Spec
- Apollo Sand Third Move
makes defeating Tailed Beast bosses significantly faster.
This combination can melt boss health bars in a short amount of time, making each run much more efficient.
If your goal is farming rewards repeatedly, this loadout is worth considering.
How the Great Shindo War Works
The mission follows a simple wave structure.
Early rounds mostly consist of regular NPC enemies that attack in groups.
As you progress, you’ll begin encountering Tailed Beast bosses, which require much more damage and survivability than normal enemies.
By the final stages, you’ll often be fighting multiple powerful enemies during the same wave, making positioning and cooldown management much more important.
Fortunately, the mode isn’t overly long.
There are five total waves, making it a nice balance between challenge and farming efficiency.
Great Shindo War Rewards
Completing the mission rewards you with a healthy amount of resources.
Possible rewards include:
- 8–15 Spins
- 200,000 to 1.5 million RELL Coins
Considering a run only takes several minutes with a strong build, it’s a worthwhile activity for players looking to stock up on Spins while earning a large amount of currency.
Known Bug
At launch, one of the Tailed Beast bosses could occasionally become bugged and prevent the mission from progressing.
The developers have already released a fix for this issue.
If you ever encounter the problem on an older server, simply rejoining the game should place you into a server with the updated version.
Tips for Faster Clears
If you’re planning to farm this mode repeatedly, these tips will help improve your completion time.
- Equip strong area-of-effect abilities for clearing NPC waves.
- Bring at least one reliable healing ability like Reaper Spirit Summoning.
- Save your highest damage skills for Tailed Beast bosses.
- Shadow C Spec and Apollo Sand’s third move are excellent for boss damage.
- Stay mobile instead of standing still during boss attacks.
- Repeat the mission since it offers consistent Spins and RELL Coin rewards.
