The latest Sell Lemons update isn’t one of those tiny patches that only adds a few bug fixes. This one introduces several new features that give players more reasons to keep progressing, including companions, the mysterious LemonX expansion, aliens, quality-of-life improvements, and a brand-new Stargate area that unlocks as you earn more Ascensions.

Some of these additions are explained in-game, while others are intentionally kept a little mysterious. If you’ve logged in after the update and wondered what half of the new stuff actually does, you’re definitely not alone.

I’ve spent some time looking through everything added in this update, and below I’ll walk you through each feature, explain how it works, and point out what you should focus on first.

Sell Lemons Stargate Update Guide – LemonX Area, Aliens

Here’s everything included in the latest update:

  • New Companions
  • LemonX Expansion
  • Stargate Station
  • New Alien Visitors
  • Orchard Mutation Visual Effects
  • Hold-to-Upgrade Feature
  • Skip Cutscene Option
  • Disable Phone Pop-ups Setting

Let’s go through each one.

New Companions

One of the biggest additions is the brand-new Companion system.

Companions are small creatures or characters that follow your player around while you play. They don’t help with farming or increase your income, but they do make your character stand out.

At the moment, companions are purely cosmetic, meaning they don’t provide gameplay boosts or stat bonuses.

To view them, simply open the Companions menu from the left side of your screen.

How to Unlock Every Companion

Each companion has its own unlock requirement.

Companion Requirement How to Unlock
Good Orchard Companion Grow a 10-Star Fruit in your orchard
Evolution Companion Evolve your character once
Void Companion Unlock every badge in the game
Final Milestone Companion Reach 777 Ascensions
Chaotic Event Companion Earned during a Very Chaotic Event
Rare Chaotic Event Companion Low chance reward from a Very Chaotic Event

The first few are achievable through normal progression, while the final event companions depend on limited-time events.

Companions Don’t Give Any Bonuses

This is something many players have been asking.

Right now, companions do not increase your income, luck, harvest speed, or any other stats.

They’re simply cosmetic followers that let you show off your progress.

If you were hoping they’d become another upgrade system, that’s unfortunately not the case—for now, at least. Of course, future updates could always change that.

LemonX Expansion Explained

Another major addition is the mysterious LemonX area.

After reaching LemonX, you’ll notice an entirely new section that wasn’t available before.

Instead of unlocking everything immediately, the game locks different parts of the area behind Ascension requirements.

This means you’ll need to continue progressing before you can fully explore everything LemonX has to offer.

Stargate Station

Inside LemonX, you’ll come across the Stargate Station.

This acts as the entrance to the new expansion area.

Once you interact with it, you’ll notice several structures that require Ascensions before they can be built or unlocked.

Some examples include:

  • Parking Lot
  • Bridge Structure
  • Decorations
  • Additional construction areas

Each section requires a certain number of Ascensions before becoming available.

Think of it as another long-term progression system that slowly expands as your account gets stronger.

Ascensions Now Matter Even More

Before this update, Ascensions were mainly another progression milestone.

Now they’re even more valuable because they unlock additional LemonX content.

The more Ascensions you earn, the more of the Stargate area you’ll gradually rebuild.

If you’ve been putting off Ascending, this update gives you a pretty good reason to start working towards it.

New Aliens Have Arrived

One of the more mysterious additions is the appearance of Aliens.

The update notes mention that these visitors promise valuable rewards.

While not every detail has been revealed yet, these aliens appear as special encounters that can reward players for interacting with them.

It’s worth checking the area regularly whenever you’re playing, especially after future updates, as the developers may expand this system.

Orchard Mutation Visual Effects

This is one of those smaller changes that actually makes the game feel much nicer.

Trees inside your orchard now display unique visual effects depending on their fruit mutations.

Instead of every tree looking almost identical, mutated fruits now have their own special appearance.

It’s a cosmetic improvement, but it makes rare mutations much easier to recognise at a glance.

Hold to Upgrade

Probably my favourite quality-of-life change in this update is the new Hold to Upgrade feature.

Previously, upgrading meant repeatedly clicking the same button over and over again.

Now you can simply hold your mouse button on an upgrade and it’ll continue purchasing levels automatically.

It doesn’t sound like a huge improvement until you actually use it. Once you do, it’s hard to imagine going back to the old system.

Skip Cutscenes

If you’ve already watched every cutscene multiple times, you’ll appreciate this feature.

There’s now a setting that lets you skip certain cutscenes, making it much quicker to jump back into gameplay.

This is especially useful if you’re creating alternate accounts or replaying content after an update.

Disable Phone Pop-ups

Another welcome addition is the option to disable in-game phone notifications.

If you found constant pop-ups interrupting your gameplay, you can now turn them off through the settings menu.

It’s a small change, but it helps keep the screen much cleaner while farming.

The Mysterious Void Companion

One companion description mentions that the entity is manifested in the Void.

The game doesn’t clearly explain what this means, but many players believe it’s connected to the Void area rather than normal progression.

If you’re hunting every companion, it’s worth exploring the Void whenever you unlock access to it, as future discoveries may reveal the exact requirement.

Should You Focus on LemonX First?

If you’re a newer player, I wouldn’t rush straight into LemonX.

Instead, I’d recommend following this progression:

  1. Upgrade your orchard regularly.
  2. Work towards your first evolution.
  3. Grow a 10-Star Fruit.
  4. Start collecting badges.
  5. Continue earning Ascensions.
  6. Unlock more of the LemonX Stargate area.
  7. Participate in every Chaotic Event for the rare companions.

That way, you’ll naturally unlock most of the update’s content without feeling stuck behind progression walls.

This update adds much more than just companions. Between the LemonX expansion, Stargate Station, new alien encounters, improved orchard visuals, and several quality-of-life upgrades, the game feels noticeably smoother than before.

The companion system is fun even if it’s cosmetic, and the LemonX area gives long-time players another major progression goal through Ascensions. My only small disappointment is that companions don’t provide any gameplay bonuses, but they’re still a nice way to show off your achievements.

Overall, if you’re planning to keep playing Sell Lemons, this update is definitely worth exploring. Even the smaller improvements—like holding to upgrade and skipping cutscenes—make everyday gameplay feel much more enjoyable.
