The map in Examination is much bigger than it first appears. Rather than being one continuous area, the game is divided into three major sectors, each introducing tougher enemies, new objectives, and increasingly dangerous environments.

Knowing where to go is just as important as having the right weapons. If your team gets lost or misses an objective, progression comes to a complete stop. On top of that, some locations hide unique hazards that can instantly end an otherwise successful run.

This guide walks through every major location currently known, explains what each area is used for, and shows how to unlock the next sector.

Roblox Examination Map Guide – All Sectors, Objectives

The Itagura Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Laboratory is split into:

  • Sector 1 – Starting area
  • Sector 2 – Mid-game objective area
  • Sector 3 – Late-game zone

Each sector must be unlocked by completing specific objectives before your team can continue.

Sector 1

Sector 1 serves as the opening section of the game and introduces players to the facility.

Although it starts relatively manageable, it contains several important objectives that must all be completed before progressing.

Generator 1

One of the very first objectives you’ll encounter is Generator 1.

Inside the room is a large generator that can be activated by pressing its control button.

Objective

Turn on Generator 1.

Doing so completes the first mission objective and unlocks further progression through Sector 1.

Generator 2

Generator 2 is almost identical to the first generator.

Its purpose is simple.

Objective

Activate Generator 2.

Completing this objective is required before your team can advance toward Sector 2.

Backup Generator

The Backup Generator is another critical objective.

Like the previous generators, it must be powered on before certain systems become operational.

Objective

Activate the Backup Generator.

This completes the second major objective needed for progression.

Storage

Storage is widely considered one of the most dangerous locations in Sector 1.

Unlike the generator rooms, Storage is filled with enemies attacking from multiple directions.

Because of the limited space and constant pressure, teams should move carefully instead of rushing through.

Tips

  • Stay together.
  • Watch every entrance.
  • Avoid getting surrounded.
  • Reload before entering.

This area can quickly overwhelm players who wander away from the group.

Reactor 1

Reactor 1 acts as one of the major landmarks inside Sector 1.

Near its entrance is a room containing two doors.

One door has been destroyed, while the other remains sealed because of the emergency shutdown procedures.

Although Reactor 1 isn’t immediately important for progression, you’ll revisit this area later while moving between sectors.

Reactor 4

Reactor 4 contains one of the game’s most dangerous environmental hazards.

Unlike normal enemy encounters, the threat here cannot simply be defeated with weapons.

Basement

Beneath Reactor 4 is the Basement.

This area has the highest radiation levels found anywhere in Sector 1.

Interestingly, almost no enemies appear here.

Instead, the environment itself becomes the main danger.

Players should move carefully and avoid unnecessary exposure.

Elephant Foot (The Monolith)

The Basement contains the infamous Elephant Foot, sometimes referred to as the Monolith.

This massive corium formation is inspired by the real-world Chernobyl disaster.

Why It’s Dangerous

The Elephant Foot emits extremely high levels of radiation.

Remaining near it—or even looking at it for too long—can quickly kill your character.

Unlike enemies, there’s no fighting involved.

The safest strategy is simply:

  • Avoid staring directly at it.
  • Spend as little time nearby as possible.
  • Complete your objective quickly before leaving.

Many first-time players die here simply because they’re curious about what they’re looking at.

Basement Valve

While exploring the Basement, you’ll eventually locate the Basement Valve.

This valve is one of the most important objectives in Sector 1.

Objective

Open the Basement Valve.

Completing this objective:

  • Finishes the second objective.
  • Awards the NUMBER-FOUR-REACTOR Badge.

Don’t leave the Basement until you’ve successfully activated it.

How to Unlock Sector 2

Before the Sector 2 Blast Gate can be opened, your team must complete every required objective.

Required Objectives

  • Activate Generator 1.
  • Activate Generator 2.
  • Repair the Basement Valve beneath Reactor 4.

Once all three tasks are complete:

  1. Locate the Sector 2 gate.
  2. Press the button beside the entrance.
  3. Wait for the blast gate to open.

Only then can your squad continue deeper into the facility.

Sector 2

Sector 2 introduces stronger enemies and longer navigation routes.

The main destination here is the Logistics Area.

After entering through the blast gate:

  • Climb the nearby stairs.
  • Move through several hallways.
  • Eliminate infected enemies along the way.
  • Reach the center of Sector 2.

Compared to Sector 1, this area places much more emphasis on coordinated team movement.

Sector 2 Objective

The primary objective inside Sector 2 is collecting information.

Players must:

  • Locate the laptops.
  • Upload the required data.
  • Finish every upload before leaving the sector.

Only after completing the uploads can Sector 3 become accessible.

How to Unlock Sector 3

After finishing the laptop objectives, your team has two possible routes.

You can:

  • Continue past Reactor 1.
  • Backtrack through Sector 1.

Eventually you’ll arrive at the Sector 3 Blast Gate.

Press the nearby control button to open it.

Once the gate opens, head down the corridor into the final sector.

Sector 3

Sector 3 represents the late-game portion of Examination.

Before entering, the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) begins a debriefing over communications, warning players about the dangers waiting ahead.

Successfully reaching this area also awards several achievements if you’ve met their requirements.

Badges Awarded

Entering Sector 3 can unlock the following badges:

  • UNDEREQUIPPED
  • ONE-MAN-ARMY
  • LOST_COMMAND

Make sure you’ve fulfilled the necessary conditions before reaching the gate if you’re attempting badge runs.

Examination’s map is much more than a collection of corridors—it gradually teaches players how to balance navigation, objective management, and survival under increasing pressure. Sector 1 introduces the essential mechanics through generator activations and the hazardous Reactor 4 basement, while Sector 2 shifts the focus toward coordinated exploration and data uploads. By the time you reach Sector 3, your team should already be communicating effectively and conserving resources for the challenges ahead.

Learning the layout of each sector makes every future run smoother, helping you complete objectives faster, avoid deadly hazards like the Elephant Foot, and unlock the badges tied to reaching the later stages of the facility.
