The Sand Castle Crasher Rod is a limited-time FishFest rod that can only be crafted after completing the second part of Sandy Finn’s questline. You’ll need three crafting materials before heading to Ancient Isle to forge the rod.
Step 1: Complete Sandy Finn’s First Quest
Before anything else, finish Sandy Finn’s original quest by finding all 10 secret crabs scattered around the map.
Once you’ve collected all 10 crabs, return to Sandy Finn to unlock Part 2 of the quest.
Step 2: Obtain the Sandy Handle
For the first crafting component, Sandy Finn will ask you to bring him 10 Crabby Coconuts.
To get them:
- Activate or wait for Tropical Weather
- Fish until you catch 10 Crabby Coconut mutations
- Return all 10 to Sandy Finn
After completing this objective, Sandy Finn rewards you with the Sandy Handle.
Step 3: Obtain the Sandy Rod Shaft
The second crafting material comes from the Sandcastle minigame.
Requirements:
- Win 5 Sandcastle games
- Claim your rewards from the Sandcastle NPC
After claiming the rewards, you’ll receive the Sandy Rod Shaft.
Step 4: Obtain the Final Crafting Material
The final ingredient is a special fish:
Sandfort (Sandy Mutation)
To get it:
- Catch a Sandfort
- It must have the Sandy Mutation
- The mutation is fairly rare, so you may need multiple attempts
Once you catch a Sandy Sandfort, you’ll have all required materials.
Step 5: Craft the Rod
With all three components collected:
- Sandy Handle
- Sandy Rod Shaft
- Sandy Sandfort
Travel to Ancient Isle and use the crafting station to create the Sand Castle Crasher Rod.

Is the Sand Castle Crasher Rod Worth It?
The rod isn’t the strongest option for raw stats, but its mutation-focused passive makes it valuable for players farming event fish and special mutations during FishFest. The guaranteed Sandcastle Mutation effect can significantly boost mutation collection and event progression.
Since it’s only obtainable during FishFest, it’s worth crafting before the event ends.
