Farming materials in Anime Zero is essential for crafting accessories and awakening characters. However, collecting everything required can consume a lot of time if the wrong act or difficulty is chosen. Focusing on the right stages, enhancing drop rates, and employing the correct farming setup can help streamline material collection significantly.

Before diving into farming, it’s crucial to know where to look for story materials, how Infinite mode works, and which traits and accessories can improve your drop rates. This knowledge will make your farming efforts much more productive.

Gathering the right resources early on can save hours later, so check your crafting requirements and ensure you’re ready to maximize your runs.

This guide covers the best places to farm story materials, how Infinite mode works, which accessories and traits improve drop rates, and where to get special raid materials.

1. Check Your Material Requirements First

Open the crafting or evolution menu before you start farming to see what materials are needed for your desired accessory or awakening. Write down everything you lack, including quantities, especially if you aim to craft multiple items.

Many recipes utilize similar materials, allowing you to focus on one act and gather several items in a single session instead of hopping between acts.

For instance, if you’re awakening a character that needs Fine Cloth, Soul Fragments, and Magic Pendants, all three can be collected from Act 1 Nightmare. Pre-farming checks help pinpoint the most efficient locations for your runs.

Many recipes use the same materials, so calculating your total requirements can save time. Instead of switching between different acts repeatedly, you can focus on one act and collect several required materials during the same run.

For example, if an awakening requires Fine Cloth, Soul Fragments, and Magic Pendants, you can farm all three in Act 1 Nightmare. Checking your recipes beforehand helps you choose the most efficient farming location.

2. Best Story Mode Materials Farming Locations

Story mode serves as a primary source for farming materials in Anime Zero. Each standard enemy drops materials specific to their act, and since every player has their own drop rates, playing with others won’t dilute your rewards.

You can begin gathering Fine Cloth and Shinobi Scrolls from every act starting on Easy difficulty, while other materials will require specific acts and higher difficulty levels.

Fine Cloth and Shinobi Scrolls can drop in every act starting on Easy difficulty. Other materials require specific acts and difficulty levels.

Act 1 Materials

Farm the following materials in Act 1:

Items Availability
Fine Cloth Easy difficulty onward
Shinobi Scrolls Easy difficulty onward
Eyeballs Medium difficulty onward
Cursed Fingers Hard difficulty onward
Soul Fragments Hard difficulty onward
Magic Pendants Nightmare difficulty

Since higher difficulties also yield materials from lower ones, Act 1 Nightmare is a strategic choice for gathering multiple materials simultaneously.

As an example, if the awakening process for Ezero requires 25 Fine Cloth, 30 Soul Fragments, and 50 Magic Pendants, all can be farmed in Act 1 Nightmare — eliminating the need to switch acts frequently.

  • Fine Cloth: Available from Easy difficulty onward.
  • Shinobi Scrolls: Available from Easy difficulty onward.
  • Eyeballs: Available from Medium difficulty onward.
  • Cursed Fingers: Available from Hard difficulty onward.
  • Soul Fragments: Available from Hard difficulty onward.
  • Magic Pendants: Available on Nightmare difficulty.

Higher difficulties also allow you to obtain materials available on lower difficulties. This makes Act 1 Nightmare a good choice if you need several of these materials at once.

For example, awakening Ezero requires 25 Fine Cloth, 30 Soul Fragments, and 50 Magic Pendants. All three materials can be farmed in Act 1 Nightmare, so you do not need to switch between different acts to complete this requirement.

Act 2 Materials

Act 2 Materials

Act 2 has its own set of materials necessary for accessory crafting:

Items Availability
Fine Cloth Easy difficulty onward
Shinobi Scrolls Easy difficulty onward
Broken Blades Medium difficulty onward
Tech Components Hard difficulty onward
Sun Cores Nightmare difficulty

Broken Blades are frequently required in various accessory recipes, making them a priority to collect. If Sun Cores are also on your list, then farming Act 2 Nightmare will yield both materials in one go.

Broken Blades are needed in several accessory recipes, so you may need to collect a large amount of them. If you also need Sun Cores, farming Act 2 Nightmare lets you work toward both materials in the same session.

Act 3 Materials

Act 3 Materials

Act 3 is where you can farm these materials:

Items Availability
Fine Cloth Easy difficulty onward
Shinobi Scrolls Easy difficulty onward
Mana Feathers Medium difficulty onward
Wave Cores Hard difficulty onward
Forbidden Sparks Nightmare difficulty

For crafting recipes that require both Mana Feathers and Forbidden Sparks, Act 3 Nightmare provides a suitable environment for gathering multiple materials.

Should You Always Farm on Nightmare?

Should You Always Farm on Nightmare?

Although Nightmare offers superior material drop rates, it isn’t always the fastest choice. Players should evaluate their ability to quickly clear stages and maintain consistency in this mode.

For instance, the drop chance for Fine Cloth is just above 2% on Easy and 10.2% on Nightmare, which makes the latter enticing if your build can comfortably handle it.

However, if Nightmare becomes lengthy or results in frequent defeats, lower difficulties might yield better overall results. The aim is efficiency in collecting materials, not simply playing at the highest difficulty.

For example, Fine Cloth has a drop chance of slightly above 2% per normal enemy on Easy, compared with 10.2% on Nightmare before drop bonuses. This makes Nightmare attractive when your build can handle it comfortably.

However, if Nightmare takes much longer or you frequently lose, a lower difficulty may give you better results over the same amount of time. The goal is to collect materials efficiently, not simply choose the highest difficulty available.

3. How to Farm Materials Faster in Story Mode

Once you have selected the correct act and difficulty, focus on reducing the time needed to clear each run.

3. How to Farm Materials Faster in Story Mode

After determining the optimal act and difficulty, aim to minimize the clear time for each run.

  • Group enemies together before using large attacks.
  • Utilize skills that can damage multiple enemies simultaneously.
  • Boost your damage output to clear waves more quickly.
  • Team up with other players if solo runs are too slow.
  • Select a difficulty level you can complete reliably.

A faster clear translates to more runs possible in the same timeframe, ultimately increasing your chances of acquiring the materials needed.

A faster clear also means you can complete more runs in the same amount of time, giving you more opportunities to collect the materials you need.

4. Infinite Mode Material Farming Guide

Infinite mode is advantageous for extended farming sessions or when leaving characters farming while AFK. However, not all materials can be obtained in this mode, so check the material drops beforehand.

In contrast to Story mode, where enemies drop materials, Infinite mode offers material chances based on completed waves and select boss rewards.

Unlike Story mode, where normal enemies can provide individual material chances, Infinite mode awards material chances through completed waves and certain boss rewards.

Infinite Mode Material Unlocks

The following materials can be collected at certain wave milestones:

Items Availability
Fine Cloth Wave 1 onward
Mana Feathers Wave 16 onward
Wave Cores Wave 31 onward
Sun Cores Boss drops starting from wave 46
Forbidden Fruits Boss drops starting from wave 46

Even though Sun Cores and Forbidden Fruits start appearing at wave 46, it’s necessary to defeat the boss to claim them. The first chance to obtain these materials on Nightmare is from the boss at Wave 50.

Wave Cores can drop from both regular wave rewards and boss rewards once they’re unlocked.

  • Fine Cloth: Wave 1 onward.
  • Mana Feathers: Wave 16 onward.
  • Wave Cores: Wave 31 onward.
  • Sun Cores: Boss drops starting from the wave 46 milestone.
  • Forbidden Fruits: Boss drops starting from the wave 46 milestone.

Although Sun Cores and Forbidden Fruits become available from the wave 46 milestone, you still need to reach a boss wave to receive a boss drop. On Nightmare, the first opportunity to obtain these materials is from the boss on Wave 50.

Wave Cores can drop from regular wave rewards and boss rewards once they have been unlocked.

How Infinite Mode Drop Bonuses Work

How Infinite Mode Drop Bonuses Work

Your chances of receiving materials improve as you progress in an Infinite run. Every five waves provides a 5% increase in drop rates, capping at a 50% boost from Wave 51 onward.

This means it can be more effective to continue a successful run than to restart repeatedly, as doing so saves the time previously spent reaching later waves to benefit from the higher drop bonuses.

As long as your build can continually clear waves, staying in the same run is typically optimal.

If your build can continue clearing waves without dying, staying in the same run is generally the better approach.

Materials You Cannot Farm in Infinite Mode

Materials You Cannot Farm in Infinite Mode

Not all Story mode materials are available in Infinite mode. You’ll need to return to Story mode for the following items:

  • Broken Blades
  • Eyeballs
  • Cursed Fingers
  • Soul Fragments
  • Tech Components
  • Magic Pendants
  • Shinobi Scrolls

If you die during an Infinite run, you will stop receiving rewards while your teammates continue. This is particularly relevant for AFK farming, so choose a difficulty level that your build can survive reliably.

Also, if you die during an Infinite run, you stop receiving new rewards while your teammates can continue. This is particularly important when AFK farming, so choose a difficulty your build can survive consistently.

5. Use the Fortune Trait for More Materials

The Fortune trait enhances material drop rates by 20%, along with increasing coin and XP gains, making it beneficial when farming multiple resources.

Keep in mind that this 20% increase applies to the original drop rate instead of adding a flat 20 percentage points. For example, a base drop rate of 10% would rise to 12%, not to 30%.

Be sure to utilize the weapon with the Fortune trait throughout your farming runs, as rewards are determined by the weapon used most often. Switching to a Fortune weapon shortly before finishing a dungeon won’t yield the intended benefits.

However, the 20% bonus increases the original drop chance rather than adding a flat 20 percentage points to every item. For example, a 10% base chance would become 12%, not 30%.

You should also use the weapon with Fortune for most of the farming run. The reward bonus is based on the weapon you use the most, so switching to a Fortune weapon just before completing a dungeon will not provide the intended benefit.
