If you’ve just started Anime Origins, one of the first things you’re probably wondering is pretty simple: which units are actually worth investing in?
There are a lot of Mythics, Secrets, and Exclusive units to choose from, and honestly, having a high rarity doesn’t automatically mean a unit belongs on your team. Some characters are incredible because of their damage, some bring ridiculous utility, and others are mainly valuable because they make farming much easier.
Since Anime Origins has just entered its release phase, the meta is still settling down. So rather than pretending every placement is set in stone, this tier list is meant to give you a practical idea of which units are worth chasing right now, which ones are solid alternatives, and which ones you can safely leave alone.
I’ll also cover the best Traits at the end, because getting the right Trait can make a massive difference to an already strong unit.
Anime Origins Tier List – Best Units & Traits [Release Meta]
S Tier – Meta Units
These are the units I’d put at the top of the current release meta. If you have one of these, they’re worth building around.
- Cursed Lover (Pure Love) / Yuta – Secret
- Valcrad (Unleashed) / Alucard – Secret
- Madaro (Edo Tensei) / Madara – Secret
- Bluma (Data Analyst) / Bulma – Mythic
There is an important distinction here: Bulma isn’t a traditional DPS like the other S-tier units. She’s here because her farming value is so high that she can have an enormous impact on your entire account.
Cursed Lover (Pure Love) – S Tier
Cursed Lover, also known as Yuta, has one of the most interesting kits in Anime Origins.
The big reason he stands out is Copy.
He can store up to four copyable Active Abilities, which gives him an absurd amount of flexibility. His effectiveness can change depending on which powerful units and abilities you have available.
And he isn’t relying entirely on Copy either.
Lingering Queens Heads gives him recurring AoE damage, while Love Beam hits five times for a combined 300% Damage.
That’s a lot of damage packed into a unit that already has one of the most flexible mechanics in the game.
If you manage to get Cursed Lover early, I wouldn’t be rushing to replace him.
Verdict: S Tier / Meta Secret
Valcrad (Unleashed) – S Tier
Valcrad, or Alucard, is another Secret that looks absolutely stacked.
His kit combines damage, scaling, summons, and crowd control instead of forcing you to choose just one role.
He gets:
- +15% Crit Chance
- Permanent Range scaling through critical hits
- Bonus Damage against bleeding enemies
- Summoning abilities
- Restriction progression
- Boss control
And then there’s Coffin Trap.
When a boss crosses the trap, it can stun that boss for seven seconds.
Each boss can only be caught once, but a seven-second stun is still an enormous amount of control.
His Restriction Release also gives him stronger scaling as a stage continues, making him particularly interesting in longer content.
Verdict: S Tier / Meta Secret
Madaro (Edo Tensei) – S Tier
Madara is another Secret that looks designed to completely overwhelm enemies with AoE damage.
His passive causes every fifth attack to trigger an additional 75% Damage strike and apply Calamity.
Calamity then repeats a portion of the damage dealt while the mark is active, allowing Madara to scale his damage even further.
His active ability, Heaven Splitter, is even crazier.
It deals 500% Damage and can reach up to three times his normal Range.
He also has defensive utility that can protect him against enemy debuffs and Crowd Control.
Then there’s Yasaka Beads, which adds even more damage against enemies that escape his Range and can apply a three-second Stun to low-health targets.
So you’re getting AoE, burst damage, scaling, range, defensive utility, and crowd control in the same kit.
That’s exactly what you want from a top-tier Secret.
Verdict: S Tier / Meta Secret
Bluma (Data Analyst) – S Tier Farming Unit
If you’re looking specifically for the best farming unit, Bluma, or Bulma, is the obvious choice.
Her role is completely different from the heavy DPS characters above.
Units inside her Range generate Training Data from kills, allowing her Income bonuses to increase as the game progresses.
At 380 Data, she can reach +30% Income.
That can become incredibly valuable in longer modes where your economy determines how quickly you can place and upgrade your team.
Of course, her real-world value will also depend on her placement cost, upgrade costs, and how quickly she can generate Training Data.
But purely from her economy ceiling, she’s already one of the most important units to have.
If you’re building a serious account, don’t underestimate the value of a good farming unit.
Verdict: S Tier / Best Farm
A Tier – Very Good Units
A Tier is where you’ll find units that are extremely strong but don’t quite have the same overall impact as the S-tier characters.
Current A-tier placements include:
- Yoto (Calamity) / Yato – Exclusive
- Zeldo (Piety) / Zeldris – Mythic
- Vegita (Super) / Vegeta – Mythic
- Starku (Primordial) / Coyote Starrk – Mythic
- Tojei (Sorcerer Killer) / Toji Fushiguro – Mythic
- Igritto (Commander) / Igris – Mythic
- Noroto (Linked) / Naruto – Mythic
Some of these units still need more hands-on testing, so their exact position could easily move as the release meta develops.
Noroto (Linked) – A Tier
Naruto’s Nine-Tails’ Cloak is the main reason he’s worth considering.
After building up 10 Chakra, he enters a powered state that gives him:
- +25% Damage
- -20% Cooldown
- +15% Range
- 20-second duration
That’s already a very strong temporary boost.
During the transformation, every third attack also creates a small AoE attack dealing 50% Damage.
So his powered state improves both his single-target output and his ability to clear groups.
The main issue is the downtime between transformations.
Because of that, he doesn’t quite reach the consistency of the very best S-tier units.
Verdict: A Tier / Strong DPS
Zeldo (Piety) – A Tier
Zeldris is another unit worth keeping an eye on, especially if you’re building a DPS-focused team.
His value can depend heavily on the rest of your lineup, so I wouldn’t judge him entirely in isolation.
He’s a solid Mythic option, but the top Secrets currently offer more overall value.
Verdict: A Tier
Vegita (Super) – A Tier
Super Vegeta is a straightforward DPS option.
He doesn’t appear to have the same game-changing utility as the top meta units, but he can still provide strong damage and is a perfectly reasonable unit to use while building your roster.
Verdict: A Tier
Starku (Primordial) – A Tier
Coyote Starrk is another strong Mythic damage dealer.
His kit makes him particularly attractive if you’re looking for a powerful offensive unit without necessarily needing a complicated support setup.
He’s not quite at the level of the strongest release Secrets, but he’s definitely not a unit I’d consider wasting.
Verdict: A Tier
Tojei (Sorcerer Killer) – A Tier
Toji is a very unusual unit because his mechanics don’t work like a typical buffable DPS.
He can put up some very impressive numbers, but his restrictions mean you have to think about team composition before putting him into your lineup.
He’s therefore a stronger choice for players who understand his mechanics than someone who simply wants to throw a unit onto the field and forget about it.
Verdict: A Tier / Team-Dependent
Igritto (Commander) – A Tier
Igris has already developed a reputation as a powerful DPS, but there’s a catch.
He benefits heavily from having the right team around him.
If you provide the debuff and support he needs, his damage can become ridiculous.
Without that setup, however, he doesn’t look nearly as impressive.
That’s why Igris is better described as a high-potential A-tier unit rather than an automatic S-tier pick.
Verdict: A Tier / Team-Dependent
B Tier – Decent Units
B-tier doesn’t mean bad.
These are still useful units, especially if you’re a newer player or don’t have access to the higher-ranked characters.
The current B-tier group includes:
- Roxi (Mage) / Roxy M. Greyrat
- Melio (Assault) / Meliodas
- Konpatchi (Unleashed) / Kenpachi
- Itsugo (Dangai) / Ichigo Kurosaki
- Gyutari (Upper Moon) / Gyutaro
- Goju (Honored One) / Satoru Gojo
- Bon (Purgatory) / Ban
- Goki (Super) / Goku
A lot of these characters may move once more players have fully evolved and tested them.
Goju (Honored One) – B Tier
Gojo has some very interesting defensive and crowd-control abilities.
His Infinity can nullify attacks directed at him, which potentially makes him extremely difficult for enemies to disrupt.
He also has Infinity Expansion, which can apply a 30% Slow for six seconds to enemies that remain within his Range long enough.
That sounds great for controlling tanky enemies and slowing down enemies on long paths.
The problem is that his actual damage output is still less clear compared with some of the stronger carries.
So for now, B tier feels reasonable.
Verdict: B Tier / Utility Support
Melio (Assault) – B Tier
Meliodas is a strong character and shouldn’t be mistaken for a bad unit just because he’s currently sitting in B.
He’s capable of dealing good damage and bringing useful combat effects, but the current release evaluation puts him below the top Secrets and strongest Mythics.
If you already have him, he’s absolutely usable.
Verdict: B Tier / Solid DPS
Konpatchi (Unleashed) – B Tier
Kenpachi is another strong offensive unit.
He’s especially interesting for players who want a straightforward damage dealer that can help deal with tougher enemies.
He’s not currently being placed among the absolute top release units, but he’s still a worthwhile addition to a developing account.
Verdict: B Tier / Good DPS
Itsugo (Dangai) – B Tier
Dangai Ichigo is another useful Mythic.
He’s a strong progression option and can contribute plenty of damage, but there are better long-term investments if you’re already lucky enough to have the top-tier units.
For newer accounts, however, he’s still a perfectly respectable carry.
Verdict: B Tier
Gyutari (Upper Moon) – B Tier
Gyutaro lands in the decent category for now.
He’s not currently considered a must-have meta unit, but there’s nothing stopping him from being useful while you’re building your roster.
Verdict: B Tier
Bon (Purgatory) – B Tier
Ban is another unit that can provide useful value, particularly when you’re thinking about your economy and overall team progression.
He isn’t at Bulma’s level as a dedicated farm pick, but he can still contribute to a team.
Verdict: B Tier
Goki (Super) – B Tier
Super Goku is a decent Mythic option for players who haven’t yet assembled the stronger release meta units.
He’s worth using if you already have him, but I wouldn’t prioritize chasing him over the S-tier Secrets.
Verdict: B Tier
C Tier – Mid Units
At the bottom of the current release rankings are:
- Aneko (Queen) / Akeno Himejima
- Sosuke / Saske
These aren’t necessarily unusable.
They’re simply not the units I’d recommend prioritizing when you have stronger alternatives available.
Why This Tier List Is Still Changing
This is important because Anime Origins has only just released.
A release-day tier list isn’t going to have the same level of certainty as a tier list that’s been tested for weeks.
Some units still need:
- Full evolutions
- Ascensions
- Trait testing
- Upgrade testing
- Damage testing
- Different map testing
- Boss testing
- Economy testing
- Team-composition testing
A unit that looks average from its basic kit can suddenly become incredible once its evolution and Trait are fully understood.
So treat these rankings as a release-meta starting point, not a permanent ranking.
Best Anime Origins Traits Tier List
Units are only part of the equation.
Traits can completely change how good a character is, and some Traits are so powerful that getting the right one can be worth more than replacing the unit itself.
Here are the current Trait priorities.
S Tier Traits
- Immortal
- Overseer
- Rupture
- Decay
- Ascendant
These are the Traits I’d be most excited to see on a high-end unit.
Immortal – Best Overall Trait
If you roll Immortal, congratulations.
This is the jackpot.
Immortal provides:
- +200% Damage
- -15% Cooldown
- +20% Range
- +25% Income
- Placement Limit: 1
The numbers alone make this Trait ridiculous.
It also has a special effect that can instantly eliminate nearby non-boss enemies while knocking back and slowing other enemies.
There is a limitation: only one unit on your team can have Immortal.
But honestly, if you land it on a premium carry, there’s very little reason to keep rerolling that unit.
The chance is also extremely low, making it one of the most desirable rolls in the game.
Verdict: S+ / Jackpot
Overseer – Best General DPS Trait
If you’re looking for a more conventional offensive Trait, Overseer is arguably the safest choice.
It gives:
- +20% Damage
- -5% Cooldown
- +10% Range
- +30% bonus True Damage
The best part is that it doesn’t rely on some complicated condition.
You simply equip it and your unit gets stronger.
For a normal DPS carry, this is one of the safest premium Traits you can get.
Verdict: S Tier
Rupture – Amazing for Crit Units
Rupture provides:
- +30% Crit Chance
- +35% Crit Damage
That’s an enormous offensive boost for units that already benefit heavily from critical hits.
It’s a little more specialized than Overseer, because a unit that doesn’t care about Crit won’t get nearly as much value from it.
But on the right carry?
Rupture can be absolutely disgusting.
Verdict: S Tier / Crit-Focused
Decay – Best for DoT Builds
Decay gives:
- +40% DoT Damage
- -10% Cooldown
- +10% Range
If you’re using a character built around Bleed, Burn, Poison, or another damage-over-time effect, this Trait becomes extremely attractive.
The +40% DoT Damage is obviously the main attraction, but the Cooldown and Range bonuses are also useful.
Verdict: S Tier / DoT Specialists
Ascendant – Boss Killer Trait
Ascendant gives:
- +35% Boss Damage
- +10% Damage
- +10% Range
If you’re building a character specifically for bosses, this Trait is fantastic.
The +35% Boss Damage is the big reason to use it.
Add the regular Damage and Range bonuses on top, and you’ve got a Trait that’s incredibly well suited to boss-focused carries.
Verdict: S Tier / Boss DPS
A Tier Traits
The current A-tier Traits include:
- Hustler
- Stride
- Joker
- Ace
- Nimble
- Head Hunter
- Looting
These are all worth keeping in the right situations.
Hustler – Excellent Farming Trait
Hustler gives:
- +15% Range
- +30% Income
If you’re putting this on a dedicated farm unit, the Income bonus is the main attraction.
In fact, Hustler can be considered an S-tier Trait for the right economy character.
Don’t waste it on a unit whose job isn’t generating money.
Verdict: A Tier / Potential S Tier for Farms
Stride – Great Cooldown Trait
Stride provides:
- -10% Damage
- -10% Cooldown
- +5% Range
- Tempo-based additional Cooldown reduction
Tempo can provide up to another -20% Cooldown, along with additional Range at maximum stacks.
The drawback is that Tempo resets after the unit goes five seconds without attacking.
So Stride is especially good on units that can attack consistently.
The damage penalty is something to consider, but the attack-frequency boost can make it worthwhile on the right character.
Verdict: A Tier / Fast Attackers
Joker – High-Roll Trait
Joker gives:
- +5% Damage
- -5% Cooldown
- +5% Range
But there’s a twist.
Every wave, its stats receive a random 0–25% modifier.
That gives Joker a lot of potential, but also makes it less consistent.
If you like gambling on a high roll, it’s a fun Trait.
If you want completely predictable performance, there are safer options.
Verdict: A Tier / RNG-Based
Ace – Excellent General Trait
Ace gives:
- +10% Damage
- -5% Cooldown
- +10% Range
There’s nothing complicated here.
And that’s actually why it’s good.
Every stat is useful on a conventional DPS, and there are no special requirements to worry about.
If you’re early in the game and don’t want to burn hundreds of rerolls chasing a Mythic Trait, Ace is a very respectable stopping point.
Verdict: A Tier / Great Generalist
Nimble – Great Cooldown Option
Nimble provides:
-20% Cooldown
That’s it.
But don’t underestimate how powerful a straight 20% Cooldown reduction can be.
More attacks mean more damage and, depending on the character, more frequent activation of passives and status effects.
Verdict: A Tier / Excellent on Attack-Focused Units
Head Hunter – Budget Crit Trait
Head Hunter gives:
- +20% Crit Chance
- +25% Crit Damage
Think of it as a budget version of Rupture.
It’s especially good for Crit-focused units and is a surprisingly strong offensive Trait considering its rarity.
Verdict: A Tier / Crit Builds
Looting – Economy Trait
Looting gives:
+20% Income
This makes it another excellent option for farming characters.
It’s essentially a weaker alternative to Hustler, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
If you roll Looting on your dedicated farm unit, you can keep it until you get something better.
On a pure DPS, however, I’d generally reroll it.
Verdict: A Tier / Farming
B Tier Traits
These are useful, but usually aren’t Traits you’ll want to keep forever on a premium unit.
- Hawkeye
- Haste III
- Fury III
- Reach III
- Scholar
Hawkeye
+30% Range
That’s a massive Range increase and can be incredibly useful on units that already have strong damage but struggle with coverage.
The downside is that Hawkeye doesn’t increase Damage or Cooldown.
Verdict: B Tier / Range Specialists
Haste III
-12.5% Cooldown
A very useful Epic Trait.
It’s essentially a weaker version of Nimble, but it can still carry you comfortably until you roll something better.
Verdict: B Tier
Fury III
+15% Damage
Simple and reliable.
If you’re early in the game, there’s nothing wrong with keeping it.
Verdict: B Tier
Reach III
+15% Range
Useful, especially on units with awkward Range.
But direct Damage or Cooldown improvements are generally more valuable for most carries.
Verdict: B Tier
Scholar
+50% EXP
Scholar is excellent if you’re trying to level a unit quickly.
But once your unit is already leveled and you’re focused on endgame optimization, the Trait becomes much less attractive.
Verdict: B Tier / Progression Trait
C Tier Traits
These are mostly temporary rolls.
Haste II
-7.5% Cooldown
Useful early, but you’ll eventually want Haste III, Nimble, or a premium Mythic Trait.
Fury II
+10% Damage
A decent early Damage boost, but easy to replace.
Reach II
+10% Range
Helpful for early progression, but not something I’d intentionally keep on an endgame unit.
D Tier Traits – Reroll These
The weakest current Traits are:
- Haste I
- Fury I
- Reach I
They’re not completely useless when you’re brand new, but there are much better options available.
Haste I
Only provides:
-5% Cooldown
Fine for your first few units, but reroll it once you have the resources.
Fury I
Only provides:
+5% Damage
It’s a tiny improvement and should be replaced when possible.
Reach I
Only provides:
+5% Range
Again, perfectly fine as a starting Trait, but there’s little reason to keep it long term.
Best Traits by Unit Role
Rather than memorizing the entire Trait list, you can make your life much easier by matching the Trait to the unit.
Best Traits for DPS
For a normal damage dealer:
Immortal > Overseer > Ace
If the unit is Crit-focused:
Immortal > Rupture > Head Hunter
Best Traits for Boss Killers
For boss-focused units:
Immortal > Ascendant > Overseer
Ascendant becomes particularly attractive when most of your unit’s value comes from boss damage.
Best Traits for DoT Units
For Bleed, Burn, Poison, and similar effects:
Decay > Overseer > Stride
Decay’s +40% DoT Damage is difficult to ignore on the correct character.
Best Traits for Farming
For economy units:
Hustler > Looting
Hustler is the obvious premium option because of its +30% Income.
Best Anime Origins Units to Invest In
If you’re starting your account and don’t want to overthink the entire tier list, I’d focus on a few key goals.
For raw meta power, look toward:
Cursed Lover, Valcrad, and Madaro.
For farming, aim for:
Bluma.
For strong Mythic alternatives, there are plenty of good choices in A and B tier, including Yoto, Zeldris, Vegeta, Starrk, Toji, Igris, Naruto, Meliodas, Kenpachi, Ichigo, and Gojo.
You don’t need all of them.
A good account with a strong DPS, a reliable farm unit, and useful support is much better than an account full of random high-rarity characters that don’t work together.
Should You Reroll Your Units?
This is where I would avoid getting carried away.
If you pull a strong Mythic and get something like Ace, Nimble, or another respectable Trait, you don’t necessarily need to immediately burn every reroll trying to land Immortal.
Immortal is incredible, but it’s also extremely rare.
The better approach is to ask yourself what the unit actually needs.
For example:
- Boss DPS → Ascendant
- Crit DPS → Rupture
- DoT unit → Decay
- General DPS → Overseer
- Farming unit → Hustler
- Fast attacker/support → Stride
That way, you’re rolling for a purpose instead of simply chasing the rarest Trait.
Anime Origins Release Tier List
For the current release meta, the easiest way to summarize everything is:
S Tier – Meta
- Cursed Lover (Pure Love) / Yuta
- Valcrad (Unleashed) / Alucard
- Madaro (Edo Tensei) / Madara
- Bluma (Data Analyst) / Bulma
A Tier – Very Good
- Yoto (Calamity) / Yato
- Zeldo (Piety) / Zeldris
- Vegita (Super) / Vegeta
- Starku (Primordial) / Coyote Starrk
- Tojei (Sorcerer Killer) / Toji
- Igritto (Commander) / Igris
- Noroto (Linked) / Naruto
B Tier – Decent
- Roxi (Mage) / Roxy
- Melio (Assault) / Meliodas
- Konpatchi (Unleashed) / Kenpachi
- Itsugo (Dangai) / Ichigo
- Gyutari (Upper Moon) / Gyutaro
- Goju (Honored One) / Gojo
- Bon (Purgatory) / Ban
- Goki (Super) / Goku
C Tier – Mid
- Aneko (Queen) / Akeno
- Sosuke / Saske
And for Traits, the biggest targets are:
Immortal, Overseer, Rupture, Decay, and Ascendant.
The important thing is not to treat this as a permanent ranking. Anime Origins is brand new, and as players fully evolve units, test different Traits, discover team synergies, and push the harder game modes, some of these placements are almost certainly going to change.
For now, though, if you’re starting fresh, Cursed Lover, Valcrad, and Madaro are the big damage-focused targets, while Bluma is the farm unit you really want to have.
And if you don’t pull an S-tier unit immediately, don’t worry. A well-built A- or B-tier Mythic with a good Trait can still carry you through a huge amount of the game while you work toward the real monsters.
