Type Soul keeps adding stronger and crazier abilities with almost every major update, but the new Supernova Eternal Skill might honestly be one of the most terrifying abilities players have seen in a while. The skill already has people calling it unfair, and after seeing what it can do in actual PvP fights, it is not hard to understand why.
Supernova is not just strong because of its damage. The real problem is how much pressure it creates once the animation starts. Even skilled players seem to struggle against it because the move tracks targets, cannot really be avoided consistently, and easily leads into combo extensions afterward.
The ability is also extremely rare right now, which makes encounters with it feel even more intimidating.
How to Get Supernova
Supernova is currently a very rare Eternal Skill drop in Type Soul.
Players can obtain it from the Igneous Domus raid boss, but the drop chance is incredibly low at only 0.25%. That means most players will probably need a lot of runs before they even see it drop once.
Because of that rarity, players who already own the skill are getting a huge advantage in PvP right now simply because so few people know how to properly fight against it yet.
Grinding for it may take a long time, but considering how strong the ability currently looks, many players already believe it is worth the effort.
Supernova Skill
At first glance, Supernova looks balanced because of its long windup animation. The move takes a noticeable amount of time before fully activating, which normally would leave players vulnerable.
However, that weakness almost disappears once you understand how the skill actually works.
Massive Pressure During Windup
While charging the attack, players can still use other moves during the animation. This creates an insane amount of pressure because opponents are forced to worry about both the incoming Supernova and whatever combo setup is happening at the same time.
Instead of standing still and waiting, the user can actively chase, pressure, or continue attacking while Supernova prepares in the background.
This is where the move starts becoming genuinely scary in ranked matches.
Mouse Tracking Makes It Extremely Hard to Escape
One of the strongest parts of Supernova is its mouse-aim tracking.
The move follows the target while aiming, which means enemies cannot simply sidestep or run in a straight line to avoid it. Skilled players can actively track opponents and continue applying pressure until the attack lands.
That tracking alone makes the ability feel oppressive, especially during chaotic PvP fights where movement options are already limited.
A lot of Eternal Skills in Type Soul rely on prediction, but Supernova removes much of that guessing by allowing players to adjust their aim in real time.
Damage and Combo Potential
Despite taking around a quarter of a bar to use, Supernova still deals roughly 16% damage on hit, which is already respectable for a single skill.
The bigger issue is what happens afterward.
Once the attack connects, players can immediately combo extend into additional attacks. That means the actual damage can become significantly higher depending on the build and skill tree being used.
In competitive fights, landing Supernova often feels like the beginning of a combo rather than the end of one.
Can You Counter Supernova?
Right now, players are still testing possible counters, but early impressions are not encouraging.
According to gameplay footage and player testing:
- The move is not blockable
- Parrying does not seem reliable
- Dodging appears inconsistent
- Punishing the user during windup is difficult because they can still pressure you
That combination is exactly why so many players already consider the skill overtuned.
Normally, strong abilities in Type Soul have at least one major weakness. Supernova currently feels like it lacks a clear downside outside of its energy cost and startup animation, and even those weaknesses can be worked around.
Is Supernova Overpowered?
At the moment, honestly, it looks incredibly strong.
The combination of:
- Tracking
- Pressure during windup
- Guaranteed follow-up potential
- Difficult counterplay
- Strong damage
makes Supernova feel far stronger than many existing Eternal Skills.
There is a very good chance the developers eventually adjust:
- Tracking strength
- Combo extension timing
- Damage scaling
- Startup pressure
- Overall punish windows
But until that happens, players lucky enough to own Supernova are probably going to dominate PvP lobbies for a while.
The new Supernova Eternal Skill already feels like one of the scariest abilities currently available in Type Soul. Even though it has a long startup, the ability’s tracking and pressure mechanics make it extremely difficult to deal with once activated.
Its insanely low 0.25% drop chance also means most players will not have access to it anytime soon, which only increases the hype surrounding the skill.
If future balance patches do happen, Supernova will probably still remain powerful. Right now though, it honestly looks close to unpunishable in the hands of experienced players, especially those who know how to extend combos and keep nonstop pressure during fights.
