The Snow Biome Refresh has arrived in 99 Nights in the Forest, giving one of the game’s colder areas a much-needed makeover. This is only Part 1 of the biome refresh, so there is more coming, but the first update already adds several changes worth checking out.

The main focus is the Snow Biome, although the developers have also slipped in some smaller changes across the rest of the game. Here’s what you need to know before heading into the snow.

99 Nights in the Forest Snow Biome Refresh Update Everything New in Part 1

Part 1 of the update mainly focuses on rebuilding and expanding the Snow Biome.

The update includes:

  • A refreshed Snow Biome
  • Expanded areas to explore
  • New items
  • Changes and improvements across the biome
  • Bug fixes
  • Quality-of-life improvements
  • Additional changes to other biomes
  • More biome refresh content coming in Part 2

The second part is expected to expand the changes to other areas of the map, so this isn’t the final version of the biome refresh.

The Snow Biome Has Been Expanded

One of the first things you’ll notice is that the Snow Biome is larger.

Previously unexplored sections can now be reached by expanding the map, giving you more snowy territory to explore. This also means there are more areas where you can run into enemies, resources and other points of interest.

The overall appearance still has the same snowy feel, but the expanded territory makes the biome feel less restricted than before.

Heat Is Still Important

Don’t forget about the cold just because the biome has been refreshed.

The Snow Biome still uses the heat mechanic, meaning you’ll need to find and use the appropriate items to keep yourself warm while exploring.

This is particularly important when you’re trying to travel deeper into the biome. Going in without enough preparation can quickly turn an exploration trip into a survival problem.

So before heading too far from your usual safe areas, make sure you’ve got the equipment needed to maintain your heat.

New Enemies and Wildlife

The refreshed biome also has plenty of wildlife to watch out for.

One creature that stands out during the exploration is the polar bear. These aren’t exactly the sort of animals you want to casually shoot at and then hope they forget about you.

If you encounter one, be careful about engaging it unless you’re prepared for the fight.

There may also be other creatures or enemy changes connected to the refresh. Some of the enemies spotted during the exploration could be existing creatures rather than completely new additions, so it’s worth keeping that distinction in mind.

New Items to Find

The update also introduces new items to the game.

The exact locations of every new item aren’t immediately obvious, so you’ll need to explore the refreshed Snow Biome to discover what has been added.

Frozen chests and other snowy points of interest are worth checking as you move through the expanded area. If you’re trying to find everything introduced with the update, don’t simply follow the main path through the biome.

Search around the newly accessible sections as well.

What About the Frozen Chests?

Frozen chests can be found around the snowy environment, although not every chest or environmental feature is necessarily new to this update.

If you’re exploring the Snow Biome for the first time after the refresh, they’re still worth checking because they can lead you toward useful resources and items.

The safest approach is to treat the expanded biome as a new exploration area rather than assuming every object you see was added specifically with Part 1.

Snow Biome Exploration Tips

If you’re planning to spend a lot of time in the refreshed biome, a little preparation goes a long way.

Keep Your Heat Up

The cold remains one of the biggest threats in the Snow Biome. Bring whatever heat-related equipment you need before venturing too far.

Don’t Rush Into New Areas

The map expansion gives you more room to explore, but it also means you can run into enemies farther away from your usual routes.

Take your time when entering an unfamiliar section.

Watch Out for Polar Bears

Polar bears can be dangerous if you aren’t ready for them. If one appears while you’re exploring, don’t make the same mistake of attacking it without considering whether you can actually handle the fight.

Search the Expanded Map

The refresh isn’t just visual. New areas mean there are more places to investigate, so check corners, structures, chests and unusual-looking sections instead of sticking to the obvious route.

Is This the Full Biome Refresh?

No. This is only Part 1.

The developers are using the first part primarily to refresh the Snow Biome, while Part 2 is planned to bring bigger changes to the other biomes.

There are also smaller improvements outside the snow area already included in Part 1, but the larger biome changes are being saved for the next stage.

That means the current Snow Biome shouldn’t necessarily be considered the end of the refresh. More changes are on the way.

The first part of the 99 Nights in the Forest Biome Refresh is mostly about giving the Snow Biome more room to explore and making the area feel more developed.

The expanded map, new items, environmental changes and quality-of-life improvements give players a reason to return to an area that could previously feel a little limited.

Just remember that the cold is still a major threat, and the wildlife isn’t going to give you a free pass either.

And if you’re wondering what else is coming, Part 2 should be the bigger update to watch, since that’s where the developers are expected to focus more heavily on the remaining biomes.
