If you’ve been progressing through the latest VV: Ultimatum content, you’ve probably run into the quest called “He Who Is Only Now” and immediately gotten stuck on the objective asking you to Find Clues About the King.
The problem is that the game doesn’t give much direction. There are no markers, no detailed hints, and many players end up searching multiple regions without finding anything.
Fortunately, the quest is actually straightforward once you know where every clue is hidden. This guide covers all four clue locations and the quickest way to finish the objective.
How to Start the Clues About the King Quest
Before searching for clues, you’ll need the quest itself.
Head to Hueco Mundo and speak with the same NPC involved in the previous progression quests.
After talking to him, you’ll receive the objective:
Find Clues About the King (0/4)
Once the quest is active, you can begin collecting the four clues.
Clue #1 Location – Lake Sanctum
Your first stop is Lake Sanctum.
Once you arrive, locate Enrique and interact with him.
During the dialogue, select:
“Ask About The King”
This is typically the third dialogue option available.
After the conversation finishes, the game will count your first clue.
Progress: 1/4 Clues Found
Clue #2 Location – Cage Hollow in Hueco Mundo
For the second clue, return to Hueco Mundo.
Many players completely miss this one because it involves an NPC that most people never interact with.
Look for the Caged Hollow and approach it.
You’ll need:
- An Arrow
Once you have one, interact with the Hollow and continue through the dialogue.
After the conversation ends, you’ll receive the second clue.
Progress: 2/4 Clues Found
Clue #3 Location – Secret Lab
This is the clue that usually causes the most confusion.
Before you can access it, you must complete the:
VV Initiative Questline
This quest unlocks the Secret Lab and also gives access to Spirit Charm merging.
If you haven’t unlocked the Secret Lab yet, complete VV Initiative first.
Where Is the Clue?
Inside the Secret Lab, head toward the right side of the room.
You’ll find an interactable object that most players overlook.
Interact with it and the game will register the third clue.
Progress: 3/4 Clues Found
Clue #4 Location – Soul Society Outskirts
For the final clue, travel to:
Soul Society Outskirts → Precipice
Once there, locate the village commander NPC.
He’s positioned near the front section of the settlement and is easy to spot once you reach the area.
Speak with him and continue through the entire conversation.
The dialogue is fairly long, but once it finishes, you’ll receive the final clue.
Progress: 4/4 Clues Found

What Happens After Finding All 4 Clues?
Once you’ve collected every clue, return to the original quest NPC in Hueco Mundo.
Currently, this appears to be the end of the available questline.
However, many players believe this quest is setting up future progression systems that haven’t been fully released yet.
Possible future unlocks may include:
- Bankai progression
- Vollständig progression
- Segunda Etapa progression
- Future story content involving the King
Because of that, it’s highly recommended to complete the quest now so you’re prepared when future updates arrive.
The “Find Clues About the King” objective sounds complicated at first, but it’s really just a matter of visiting four specific locations and interacting with the correct NPCs or objects.
The only real roadblock is the Secret Lab clue, since players must complete the VV Initiative questline beforehand. Once that’s done, the entire quest can be finished in just a few minutes.
