If you’ve just logged into Universal Tower Defense Z after the 4.25 update, you probably noticed there’s a lot going on. Between the football event, brand-new units, Blitz Pass rewards, adaptation trials, chemical reactions, relic upgrades, and two completely new game modes, it can feel overwhelming at first.
I spent some time going through everything added in this update, and honestly, it’s one of the more unique updates the game has received. Instead of simply adding another map or another banner, the developers introduced an entirely different way to play. The football mode feels surprisingly fun, even if you’re not a football fan.
This guide breaks down every important feature in Update 4.25, explains how the new modes work, shows where every new unit comes from, and gives you tips so you don’t waste your time farming the wrong content.
Universal Tower Defense Z Update 4.25 Guide – Football Event, Codes
Update 4.25 introduces a huge amount of content, including:
- Universal Football Event
- Universal Football Game Mode
- Blitz Football Mode
- 7 New Units
- New Chemical Reactions
- 8 Exclusive Relics
- Adaptation Trial
- Blitz Pass
- Infinite Football Mode
- New Cosmetics
- Event Quests
- New Tags
- Bundles & Redeem Codes
- Various Bug Fixes
Instead of focusing on one feature, this update spreads rewards across multiple activities, so you’ll need to play different modes if you want every unit.
How to Get Every New Unit
One of the biggest questions after the update is where each character comes from.
Here’s the complete list.
| Unit | How to Obtain |
|---|---|
| Egoist | Complete the Adaptation Trial |
| Blue Rose | Universal Football Infinite Mode |
| Ace Eater | Universal Football Infinite Mode |
| Shirro Complete | Blitz Pass |
| Axel Striker | Blitz Pass |
| King Footballer | Banner |
| Demonic Footballer | Banner |
This means you won’t unlock everything from one activity.
You’ll need to:
- Farm Adaptation Trials
- Play Football Mode
- Progress through Blitz Pass
- Spend Banner summons
Universal Football Mode Explained
This is easily the biggest feature of Update 4.25.
Unlike traditional tower defense gameplay where you place units and continuously upgrade them, Football Mode mixes strategy, drafting, and football mechanics together.
At first it feels strange, but after a few matches it starts making sense.
Build Your Football Team
Before every match, you’ll choose a formation.
Different formations change how your team plays.
You then fill each football position using your units.
Instead of every character simply attacking enemies, each unit now plays a football role depending on its type.
For example:
- DPS units become Strikers
- Support units become Midfielders
- Utility units become Defenders
- Specialist units can fill almost any position
This makes team building much more interesting than simply stacking the highest DPS characters.
Draft System
Throughout the match you’ll earn money.
Instead of upgrading units, you’ll spend this money drafting stronger players.
You’ll periodically receive several draft choices.
Choose the one you want, then substitute them into your lineup.
The nice thing is that drafted units automatically come with:
- Full upgrades
- Your strongest Trait
- Your best Relic
- Maximum evolution available
So you don’t need to level them during the match.
Football Phase
Every few waves, the battle pauses and switches into Football Phase.
This is where the mode becomes completely different.
Your team begins passing the ball from player to player.
The passing success depends on several factors including:
- Team Chemistry
- Shared Tags
- Unit compatibility
- Individual player stats
The stronger your chemistry, the better your passing lanes become.
If your team successfully reaches the striker, you’ll enter a shooting mini-game.
Goal Shooting
When your striker reaches the goal, you’ll control the shot.
You choose:
- Shot direction
- Timing
- Power
If you place your shot well, you’ll score.
If you mistime it, the goalkeeper saves it.
Likewise, if the enemy steals possession first, you’ll instead control your goalkeeper to stop their shot.
It’s a fun little mechanic that keeps the matches feeling interactive instead of simply watching units fight automatically.
How to Win Football Mode
The objective is simple.
Score 5 goals before the enemy team does.
Between football phases, normal tower defense gameplay continues.
You’ll alternate between defending waves and football matches until someone reaches five goals.
Universal Football Infinite Mode
This is the mode you’ll probably spend the most time grinding.
Unlike the standard version, Infinite Mode continuously throws stronger opponents at you.
The main reason everyone is farming it?
Exclusive unit drops.
Rewards
You can earn:
- Blue Rose
- Ace Eater
- Evolution materials
The drop chance begins increasing around Wave 20 and continues improving the longer you survive.
If you’re planning on collecting every unit from this update, Infinite Mode is mandatory.
Blitz Football Mode
The second new game mode is Blitz.
This one is much shorter.
Instead of a long survival experience, you’ll fight through approximately seven waves.
After finishing, you’ll earn:
- Blitz XP
- Event Currency
- Universal Gems
- Double EXP rewards
Blitz is mainly designed to help you level the Blitz Pass quickly.
Runs are short, making it a great farming option if you don’t have much time.
Blitz Pass Rewards
The Blitz Pass contains several exclusive rewards.
The biggest ones are:
Tier 14
Shirro Complete
One of the exclusive update units.
Tier 29
Axel Striker
Another event-exclusive character only available through the pass.
Other Rewards
The pass also includes:
- Event currency
- Additional units
- Upgrade materials
- Cosmetics
- Progression items
If you’re planning to fully complete Update 4.25, leveling the Blitz Pass should be one of your priorities.
Adaptation Trial
The Adaptation Trial introduces another exclusive reward.
Completing it gives you:
Egoist
This is one of the secret units introduced with the update.
If you’re a collector, this should definitely be on your checklist.
New Banner Units
Two new football-themed banner units have been added.
King Footballer
Available through the Banner.
A stylish football-themed character with impressive animations.
Demonic Footballer
Also available through the Banner.
Like King Footballer, you’ll need luck (or plenty of summons) to obtain it.
If you’re low on currency, it might be better to save until one of these units receives more testing from the community before spending everything.
New Chemical Reactions
Update 4.25 introduces several new Chemical Reactions.
These work similarly to previous synergy systems but with new football-themed combinations.
Current combinations include:
- Egoist + Blue Rose
- Egoist + King Footballer
- Ace Eater + King Footballer
- Axel Striker + Shirro Complete
Using compatible characters together unlocks additional bonuses during battle.
If you’re already building football-themed teams, these reactions are definitely worth experimenting with.
Eight New Exclusive Relics
Several older units also received powerful exclusive relics.
Some of the featured relic users include:
- Water God
- First Human
- First Emperor
- Underworld God
- Lord of Flies
- Cyborg
- Psychic
- Additional featured characters
Most relics provide:
- Massive damage increases
- Cooldown reduction
- Improved abilities
- Extra range
- Better passive effects
- Additional follow-up attacks
Rather than completely changing how characters play, these relics mostly amplify what they already do well.
Water God’s relic in particular looks extremely strong thanks to its permanent damage amplification and cooldown improvements.
Sports Ball System
Football-tagged units now interact with a new Sports Ball System.
The first eligible football unit starts with possession.
During football phases, the ball moves through your formation according to your team chemistry and positioning.
This system rewards building proper football lineups instead of randomly placing your strongest units together.
Event Quests
As expected, the update also introduces a fresh batch of event missions.
Completing these quests rewards:
- Event Currency
- Blitz Progress
- Upgrade Materials
- Various limited-time rewards
If you’re already farming Football Mode, you’ll naturally complete many of these along the way.
New Cosmetics
Several new skins have also been added.
Football-themed cosmetics dominate this update, with one of the standout skins being the Majin Soccer skin, which has quickly become one of the more eye-catching additions.
If you enjoy collecting cosmetics, it’s worth checking the event shop regularly.
