Choosing the right characters in Mongil: Star Dive can completely change how smooth your progression feels. Some units make clearing Story effortless, while others are built specifically for boss fights or fast Rift runs. This tier list is designed to give you a clear understanding of which characters are worth investing in right now and how they actually perform in real gameplay situations.

Instead of just ranking units, this guide explains each character in a straightforward way so you can quickly decide what fits your playstyle and current team. Keep in mind that the game is still evolving, so rankings may shift as new updates arrive.

T0 Characters

These characters deliver top-tier performance across multiple modes and require little compromise.

Mina provides extremely consistent AoE damage thanks to her low cooldown abilities, and once her Essence management becomes natural, she maintains constant pressure in every mode, making her one of the most reliable picks for Story, strong for Conquest due to nonstop damage uptime, and highly efficient in Dimensional Rift because her dash reduces wasted movement time.

Esther combines wide AoE damage with defensive utility by confusing enemies within her field, which allows her to deal damage safely in Story while still contributing steady output in Conquest, and although her cooldowns hold her back slightly in Rift, she remains valuable due to her overall utility and scoring advantages.

Sangun stands out for his long range and fast attack speed, which makes him very easy to use while still dealing strong damage, allowing him to dominate Story and perform as a main damage dealer in Dimensional Rift, though his effectiveness in Conquest depends more on elemental matchups.

Flare excels as a high-damage Destroyer focused on boss fights, making her one of the best choices for Conquest where single-target damage matters most, while still being strong in Story despite limited AoE, although she becomes slightly less impactful in Rift where mobility and AoE are more important.

T1 Characters

These units perform well but may require better setups or are slightly more situational.

Angel offers strong AoE damage and works well as both a main and secondary damage dealer in Story, while in Conquest her AoE-focused kit limits her role to sub-DPS, and in Dimensional Rift she performs exceptionally well due to balanced damage output and smooth gameplay.

Ophelia relies heavily on her auto attacks for consistent damage, which makes her effective against bosses in Conquest, especially when exploiting Ice weakness, but her limited AoE reduces her efficiency in faster clearing modes like Story and Rift.

Gabi can deal strong damage once she builds up Spiritual Power charges, but this requirement slows her early performance, making her slightly less efficient in quick fights, though she remains a solid option against Earth-weak bosses.

Jiwon functions primarily as a support unit that enhances Wind damage and groups enemies, making her extremely useful in Dimensional Rift where speed and control matter, but less impactful in Conquest due to the limited need for grouping and lack of healing.

Benjamin contributes as a sub-DPS who triggers additional AoE damage through special skill interactions, making him effective in Story and Rift, while in Conquest his usefulness depends heavily on whether your team is built around Lightning damage.

T2 Characters

These characters can perform well but often require awakenings or specific conditions.

Penny has strong AoE potential but depends heavily on Seed of Awakening to unlock her full strength, which makes her average early on and more effective later, particularly when facing Lightning-weak enemies.

Cloud offers a balanced mix of AoE and stagger damage, but his reliance on stacking Ice Crystals slows down his overall performance without proper upgrades, making him consistent but not exceptional.

Sera delivers solid AoE damage and has a strong special skill that improves her output, but she lacks the speed and efficiency needed to compete with higher-tier units in fast-paced modes like Dimensional Rift.

Bonnie focuses on AoE explosions and boosting critical damage, but her overall impact drops in Conquest and Rift where her kit does not align well with the requirements of those modes.

T3 Characters

These units can work but often feel inefficient compared to higher-tier options.

Verna has a somewhat awkward playstyle and struggles to maintain strong performance without significant investment, making her less reliable in most modes.

Leeho takes too long to deal meaningful damage, which reduces his overall effectiveness in both Story and Conquest.

Reina provides decent neutralization damage in Conquest but feels inconsistent overall due to awkward mechanics and limited AoE usability.

Francis offers healing and buffs that can support Earth-based teams, but healing is generally less valuable in fast-paced content, limiting her overall impact.

Ellie performs best when played off-field and can deliver strong burst neutralization damage in Conquest, but her niche role makes her harder to fit into most team compositions.

Yeonhwa depends heavily on high critical rate setups, which are difficult to achieve early, making her less practical for most players at this stage.

T4 Characters

These characters currently provide very limited value compared to other options.

Daisy focuses on healing but forces stationary gameplay and lacks meaningful utility or damage output, making her ineffective across most modes and not worth investing in right now.

If the goal is smooth progression and efficient gameplay, focusing on Mina, Esther, Sangun, and Flare will give the best results with minimal effort, while T1 characters can strengthen specific team setups depending on your needs.

Building around strong damage dealers first and then adding support or situational units later is currently the most effective way to progress in the game.
