When I first jumped into Mine A Planet, I made the same mistake that most new players make—I kept mining, saved up a little cash, and randomly spent it on whatever looked useful. It worked… but it was incredibly slow.

After spending more time with the game, it’s pretty clear that progressing quickly isn’t about mining harder. It’s about upgrading the right things in the right order, replacing weak drones, and knowing when to save your resources instead of spending them immediately.

If you’re just starting out or you’re wondering why other players are earning millions while you’re still grinding for thousands, this guide will walk you through everything you should focus on.

Mine A Planet Beginner Guide – Best Upgrades, Progression

Your main objective is simple:

  • Mine ores
  • Sell your storage
  • Upgrade your planet
  • Improve your drones
  • Unlock better ores
  • Repeat the cycle

Every upgrade you purchase increases how quickly you earn money, which lets you buy even stronger upgrades.

The faster you improve this cycle, the faster your account grows.

First Things You Should Do

As soon as you enter the game:

  • Sell everything sitting in your storage.
  • Collect any Offline Earnings.
  • Check if you can afford upgrades.
  • Don’t let your storage stay full.

Many players forget to sell often, which slows their income because drones eventually stop mining when storage is full.

Try to keep selling regularly during the early game.

Upgrade Your Planet Before Anything Else

One of the biggest early-game upgrades is your Planet Upgrade.

Although it looks expensive at first, it’s actually one of the best investments you can make.

Why?

Because every planet upgrade unlocks better ores.

Better ores are worth much more money than the starter ores, meaning every future mining trip becomes more profitable.

If you’re only a few thousand coins short of upgrading your planet, don’t waste money elsewhere.

Save for it first.

Best Upgrade Priority

Instead of buying random upgrades, follow this order.

1. Planet Upgrade

Always your highest priority.

Better ores = more money.

2. Mining Speed

Mining speed directly affects how quickly your drones collect ore.

Faster mining means:

  • More ore every minute
  • Faster storage filling
  • More money overall

This upgrade keeps paying for itself.

3. Cargo Capacity

Cargo upgrades let drones carry more before returning.

This reduces downtime and improves overall efficiency.

4. Dock Storage

Increasing storage means you won’t need to sell as often.

While it isn’t as exciting as mining speed, it’s extremely helpful once your drones become stronger.

Replace Weak Drones Constantly

This is probably the biggest mistake beginners make.

Players often keep their first drones far longer than they should.

Instead, compare every new drone you obtain.

For example:

  • Old Drone: 1,000 Ore/sec
  • New Epic Drone: 4,000 Ore/sec

That’s a massive increase.

Even replacing just one weak drone can noticeably improve your income.

Whenever you pull a better drone, don’t hesitate to replace the weakest one in your lineup.

Should You Roll More Drones?

Yes—but don’t spend every coin chasing rare drones.

A better strategy is:

  • Buy important upgrades first.
  • Save some money.
  • Roll for drones afterward.

Doing this keeps your overall progression smooth.

If you spend everything on drone rolls and get unlucky, you’ll slow yourself down.

Epic Drones Are Worth Buying

During progression you’ll occasionally find Epic drones available for purchase.

If the Epic drone is significantly stronger than your current one, it’s usually worth buying.

Replacing multiple low-level drones with stronger Epic ones can dramatically increase your income.

Don’t Waste Your Valuable Resources

Some items are much harder to obtain than normal money.

These include:

  • Shiny Relics
  • Strong Batteries
  • Time Skips

It might be tempting to use them immediately.

Instead, save them until you’re farming better planets.

Using boosts later generally provides much better value than using them during the first few minutes of gameplay.

Battery Boosts Are Extremely Helpful

Once you’ve built a decent mining setup, battery boosts become very valuable.

Battery boosts temporarily increase your earnings, allowing you to:

  • Buy upgrades faster
  • Unlock planets sooner
  • Recover the cost of upgrades much quicker

Try activating them during active play sessions instead of right before logging off.

Upgrade Your Equipment

Besides drones, don’t ignore your personal equipment.

Useful upgrades include:

Jetpack

Improving the Jetpack makes moving around the map much faster.

Less travel time means more efficient gameplay.

Laser Pistol

While not always the first priority, upgrading your laser can help depending on your progression and gameplay style.

If you’re deciding between movement and combat early on, upgrading the Jetpack usually provides more value.

Buy Aliens When You Can

As you progress, you’ll eventually unlock Aliens.

Aliens provide additional bonuses that improve your overall setup.

They’re not something you need immediately, but once you have stable income, they’re definitely worth investing in.

Claim Free Rewards

Many players overlook the free gifts.

Always check for:

  • Daily rewards
  • Free gifts
  • Offline income

These rewards often provide enough resources to buy your next upgrade without additional grinding.

Working Mine A Planet Codes

Redeem codes from the Settings menu.

Here are the codes mentioned in the guide.

Code Reward
UPDATE8 Batteries
DISCORD 5 Minute Time Skip
UPDATE7 3 Strong Batteries
BETA Free Rewards

If a code doesn’t work, it may have already expired or you’ve already redeemed it.

Best Early-Game Progression Order

If you’re unsure what to do next, follow this simple path:

  1. Sell your ores frequently.
  2. Collect Offline Earnings.
  3. Upgrade your Planet.
  4. Upgrade Mining Speed.
  5. Upgrade Cargo.
  6. Upgrade Dock Storage.
  7. Replace weak drones.
  8. Roll for stronger drones occasionally.
  9. Save powerful boosts.
  10. Upgrade your Jetpack.
  11. Buy Aliens when affordable.
  12. Repeat the cycle.

Following this order keeps your progression smooth without wasting resources.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Here are a few mistakes worth avoiding.

Keeping weak drones

Always compare drone stats.

Even one stronger drone can greatly improve your mining income.

Ignoring planet upgrades

Better planets unlock more valuable ores.

Delaying this upgrade slows your entire progression.

Spending every coin on drone rolls

Getting lucky feels great, but upgrading your mining setup first is much more reliable.

Using boosts too early

Battery boosts and other rare consumables become much stronger once your mining income has increased.

Forgetting to sell

A full storage means your drones stop working.

Selling regularly keeps your income flowing.

Mine A Planet rewards players who constantly improve efficiency rather than simply mining for longer periods.

Focus on upgrading your planet as early as possible, replace outdated drones whenever stronger ones become available, invest in mining speed and cargo upgrades before chasing rare rolls, and save your valuable boosts until you’re earning higher-tier ores.

If you consistently follow this progression path, you’ll notice your income snowball very quickly, making later planets, stronger drones, and premium upgrades much easier to unlock. Rather than relying on luck, smart upgrade choices are what really separate fast progression from endless grinding.
