If you’re trying to get the Castbound Rod as fast as possible and actually unlock its full potential, I’m just going to walk you through exactly what to do without wasting time.
This isn’t complicated, but if you don’t follow the right route, it can take way longer than it should.
Step 1: Unlock the Castbound Rod
First thing, you need to actually get the rod.
What you’re looking to do is perfect catch 10 shiny flying fish.
The fastest way to do this is going above the clouds. That’s where your chances are best, so don’t waste time fishing in random spots.
For setup, this is what works best:
- Use Pinions Ariette
- Put Blessed + Glittered on it
- Use Minnow bait
- Activate a Shiny or Aurora Totem
Once you do that, just grind until you hit those 10 shiny flying fish with perfect catches. That’s what unlocks the Castbound Rod.
Step 2: Unrestrict the Rod (Core Requirement)
Now this is the part most people mess up.
After you get the rod, it’s not fully usable yet. You need to unrestrict it.
To do that, you have to perfect catch 150 fish using the Castbound Rod.
And yeah, that’s a grind, but there’s a faster way to handle it.
Step 3: Best Spot to Farm 150 Catches
You want to go to the new area inside Vertigo.
To reach it:
- Enter a whirlpool
- Once inside, follow the path downward
- Look for a large crystal
- There’s a hidden entrance underneath it
- Go inside, and you’ll find the Shimmer pool on the right
That’s where you want to farm.
And here’s the important part, use garbage bait.
You don’t need high-quality catches here. You just want fast, consistent perfect catches to hit 150 as quickly as possible.
Step 4: Final Requirement (Rod Collection)
Now after the 150 catches, there’s one more requirement.
You need to own a specific set of rods:
- Flimsy Rod
- Carbon Rod
- Steady Rod
- Arctic Rod
- Mythical Rod
- Trident Rod
- Rod of the Forgotten
- Heaven’s Tempest
- Zuth Rod
- Ethereal Prism
- Free Spirit Rod
- Great Rod of Oscar
- Ruinous Oath
Once you have all of these, go back to the NPC.
After that, the rod gets fully unrestricted.
Castbound Rod Stats
Once it’s fully unlocked, this is what you’re working with:
- Infinite Lure Speed
- 390% Luck
- 0.14 Control
- 32% Resilience
- Infinite KG
These are top-tier stats, no question.
When you start using it, you’ll immediately notice something weird.
It doesn’t behave like a normal rod.
There’s a lot going on visually, and it almost feels like multiple rods are activating at once. You’ll see different effects happening around your character while fishing.
On top of that, there are new mutations showing up while using it, which makes it even more interesting.
It honestly feels like a combination of different mechanics all packed into one rod.
If you’re doing this efficiently, the longest part is going to be the 150 perfect catches and collecting all the rods.
Everything else is straightforward.
Once it’s fully unrestricted though, it’s easily one of the strongest and most unique rods in the game.
If you’re already grinding this update, this is 100% worth going for.
