The Thousand Hands clan has received a major new awakening in Ninja Time, giving players the chance to unlock Hashirama’s powerful Wood Golem form. Getting it isn’t as simple as equipping the clan, though. You have to complete a long questline involving the Ancient Tree, several boss fights, farming special items, and a few minigames.
The quest eventually takes you through the Meteor/Moa fight, Thousand Hands, the Kurama raid, and the new Wood Golem boss. You’ll also need to collect a Wood Heart and Wood Scroll before the Ancient Tree finally allows you to awaken the Golem.
If you’re trying to unlock the complete Hashirama setup, here’s everything you need to know about the questline, required items, bosses, minigames, and the abilities you get at the end.
How to Become Hashirama and Get Wood Golem in Ninja Time
Before you can start the Wood Golem awakening quest, you need the Thousand Hands clan.
Once you obtain it, equip the clan and make sure you have the necessary mastery for the Wood-related abilities.
The Thousand Hands setup provides bonuses including:
- 40% Vitality Mastery
- 40% Chakra Mastery
- 10+ Wood Mastery
- Thousand Hands Mastery
After equipping Thousand Hands, you’ll be ready to start working toward the new awakening.
Find the Ancient Tree
The Wood Golem questline begins with the Ancient Tree, which is hidden deep within the forest.
The route takes you through the forest area around the Zetsu enemies and toward the Forest of Death region.
Follow the forest path deeper into the area until you find the massive, unusual-looking tree.
When you reach it, interact with the tree and select the option to speak with it.
The Ancient Tree will explain that your chakra is connected to the life force of the forest, but your mastery isn’t yet strong enough to awaken the living Golem.
This starts the Wood Golem awakening questline.
Ancient Tree Questline
The Ancient Tree sends you through several challenges before it will allow you to awaken the Wood Golem.
The main progression involves:
- Defeating Meteor/Moa
- Fighting Thousand Hands
- Completing a strength-related quest
- Carrying a large boulder
- Dealing enough damage to enemies
- Completing the Kurama raid on Hard difficulty
- Collecting Nature Essences
- Defeating the Wood Golem
- Getting a Wood Heart
- Defeating Thousand Hands again
- Obtaining a Wood Scroll
- Completing the balancing minigame
- Completing the meditation minigame
- Returning to the Ancient Tree
- Awakening the Wood Golem
Some of the requirements are straightforward, while others are mainly time-consuming.
Defeat Meteor/Moa
One of your first major tasks is defeating Meteor, which is essentially the Moa boss for this quest.
Meteor has around 25,000 HP, so don’t expect this to be a completely free fight when you’re first starting the questline.
Use your Thousand Hands abilities and your strongest available attacks.
After defeating Meteor, you’ll progress toward the next part of the Ancient Tree’s challenge.
Fight Thousand Hands
After dealing with Meteor, you’ll also need to fight Thousand Hands.
This is another major boss encounter connected to the awakening quest.
The fight can be annoying because of the game’s close-range combat and the way NPCs can interrupt your attacks.
Using other players to help with these boss fights can make the process considerably easier, especially if your current build isn’t dealing much damage.
Once Thousand Hands is defeated, you’ll continue to the next part of the quest.
Carry the Boulder
The next section of the questline sends you on a much different type of task.
You need to carry a large boulder to a designated location marked by a white flag.
The destination is roughly 2,000 meters away, so this is more of a travel challenge than a combat challenge.
Carry the boulder all the way to the marked resting location and complete the objective.
You Have to Repeat the Boulder Objective
This part is especially time-consuming because the boulder objective isn’t finished after a single trip.
You have to repeat the task several times before moving on.
The quest eventually sends you through multiple rounds of the same carrying objective, so be prepared for a lot of traveling.
Once you’ve completed the required repetitions, you’ll receive another objective involving damage dealt to enemies.
Complete the Damage Requirement
After the boulder section, the quest requires you to deal a large amount of damage to enemies.
The requirement shown in the source progression is around 3 million total damage.
The easiest way to handle this is simply to continue fighting enemies and using your normal abilities until the required damage is reached.
This doesn’t need to be completed in one fight, so treat it as another progression objective rather than trying to force all the damage at once.
Defeat Kurama on Hard Mode
After completing the earlier objectives, the Ancient Tree gives you another important task:
Defeat Kurama on Hard Mode.
Travel to Kurama’s Lair and enter the Hard difficulty version of the raid.
Kurama has a very large health pool, so this is another section where having other players around can be extremely helpful.
Once Kurama is defeated, you’ll receive Nature Essence.
Nature Essence becomes important for the later parts of the Wood Golem questline.
Collect Nature Essences
The Kurama raid gives you Nature Essences as a reward.
You’ll need to collect a number of them during the progression. The quest progression shown requires a substantial amount, so don’t be surprised if you need to run the raid multiple times.
The important thing is to keep your Nature Essence instead of spending it while you’re working toward the awakening.
Find the Wood Golem Boss
After completing the Kurama requirement, the Ancient Tree eventually sends you after the new Wood Golem boss.
The Wood Golem can be found near the Moa and Hashirama statues.
You’ll know you’ve found the right enemy immediately because the boss is enormous compared with the regular characters.
The Wood Golem has approximately 150,000 HP.
Defeat the Wood Golem and Get the Wood Heart
Your objective is to defeat the Wood Golem and obtain its special drop:
Wood Heart
The Wood Heart is required for the final awakening.
The boss can be difficult if you’re trying to fight it alone, especially because its large model and attacks can make close-range combat awkward.
If you’re struggling, bring other players to help damage the boss.
Once the Wood Golem is defeated, you need to make sure you actually receive the Wood Heart before moving forward.
Fight Thousand Hands Again for the Wood Scroll
After getting the Wood Heart, the quest sends you back to Thousand Hands.
This time, your goal is to obtain:
Wood Scroll
The Wood Scroll comes from fighting Thousand Hands, so you’ll need to defeat the boss again and get the required drop.
The Wood Scroll is another mandatory item for awakening the Wood Golem.
Because the drop is tied to the boss, you may need to repeat the fight if you don’t receive it immediately.
Complete the Balancing Minigame
Once you have the Wood Heart and Wood Scroll, the quest moves into its final preparation stage.
You’ll need to complete a balancing minigame at Difficulty 1.
This is one of the minigame requirements needed before the Ancient Tree accepts you.
Complete the balancing challenge successfully and move on to the next objective.
Complete the Meditation Minigame
The next requirement is a Meditation minigame at Difficulty 2.
This takes place around the Mount Maki/toad area.
Interact with the appropriate NPC or location and begin the meditation challenge.
The meditation minigame takes some time to complete, so make sure you have enough time to finish it without leaving halfway through.
Once you’ve successfully completed the required meditation challenge, you’re almost ready to awaken the Wood Golem.
Return to the Ancient Tree
With everything completed, return to the Ancient Tree.
You should now have:
- Wood Heart
- Wood Scroll
- Nature Essences
- Completed boss requirements
- Completed balancing minigame
- Completed meditation minigame
Talk to the Ancient Tree again.
The tree will recognize that you’ve defeated the required enemies, obtained the necessary items, and balanced your life force.
At this point, you can hand over the Wood Heart and Wood Scroll.
The Ancient Tree will then awaken the Wood Golem.
How to Activate the Wood Golem
After unlocking the awakening, equip Thousand Hands.
You’ll now have access to the new Golem Form alongside the Blue Nature Aura.
Activate the form once your special bar is ready.
When the transformation begins, your character grows into the enormous Wood Golem.
One of the coolest parts of the awakening is that you can actually move around while transformed, rather than simply standing in one place.
The Golem also gets its own M1 attacks and a separate set of abilities.
Wood Golem Abilities
The Wood Golem awakening comes with several new abilities.
Golem Gatling
Golem Gatling is one of the first attacks you unlock.
The ability fires a rapid attack from the Golem and can be aimed toward your target.
It’s a relatively quick attack compared with some of the larger Golem abilities.
Golem Palm
Golem Palm is a powerful close-range attack using the Golem’s massive hand.
Because of the size of the transformed character, the attack has an impressive visual presence and can be useful against enemies in front of you.
Golem Nature Beam
The Golem Nature Beam is one of the more visually noticeable abilities in the awakening.
It fires a powerful nature-based beam toward your target.
This gives the Golem a ranged option instead of forcing you to stay in melee range.
Golem Chakra Punch
Golem Chakra Punch uses the Golem’s enormous fist to deliver a heavy attack.
The animation makes the size difference between the normal character and the transformed Golem especially obvious.
It’s one of the most satisfying abilities to use after activating the awakening.
Wood Golem Ability Overview
| Ability | Type |
|---|---|
| Golem Gatling | Rapid/ranged attack |
| Golem Palm | Close-range attack |
| Golem Nature Beam | Ranged nature attack |
| Golem Chakra Punch | Heavy melee attack |
| Golem M1s | Basic melee attacks |
The exact effectiveness of each ability will depend on your stats, mastery, and overall build, so make sure your Thousand Hands setup is properly upgraded before judging the transformation.
The Wood Golem awakening gives Thousand Hands one of the most recognizable Hashirama-inspired transformations in Ninja Time. Getting it takes some patience, though, because the questline combines boss fights, farming, long travel objectives, and minigames.
The most important items to keep track of are the Wood Heart from the Wood Golem and the Wood Scroll from Thousand Hands. Once you have both and finish the required balancing and meditation challenges, you can return to the Ancient Tree and unlock the transformation.
After that, equip Thousand Hands, charge your special bar, and activate the Golem Form to finally use Hashirama’s giant Wood Golem with its own M1 attacks and abilities such as Golem Gatling, Golem Palm, Golem Nature Beam, and Golem Chakra Punch.
