If you’ve jumped into the new Crews update in Fisch and are wondering how players are already climbing the leaderboards so quickly, don’t worry. After spending time testing the update and looking at what the top crews are doing, it’s actually much easier to earn Crew Rating than most players think.
The Crews update adds a completely new progression system that encourages players to work together, complete challenges, and hunt rare fish. It also introduces the powerful Crew Rod, new mastery rewards, crew upgrades, and several ways to earn rating much faster than simply fishing normally.
Here’s everything you need to know.
How Crews Work in Fisch
The main goal of the Crews update is to increase your Crew Rating. Every crew earns rating through various activities, and that rating determines your rank on the leaderboard as well as what upgrades become available.
As your crew gains more rating, you’ll unlock larger crew capacities and access to additional rewards. For example, one of the early milestones requires 25,000 Crew Rating and over one million credits to increase crew capacity to 40 members.
Because of this, every point matters, especially during the first few days of the update when leaderboard positions are constantly changing.
Complete Daily and Weekly Challenges First
One of the easiest ways to earn Crew Rating is through challenges.
Every day you’ll receive a set of Daily Challenges that reward Crew XP and rating progress. These are usually quick to finish and should always be your first priority whenever you log in.
The same applies to Weekly Challenges. These take longer to complete but provide much larger rewards overall.
A lot of players ignore challenges and immediately start grinding fish, but challenges provide guaranteed progress and often take only a few minutes. If your goal is leveling your crew efficiently, always clear your daily objectives before doing anything else.
An extra tip is to use Glitch Potions whenever possible while working on challenge objectives. This can significantly speed up progress and help complete certain requirements much faster.
How to Unlock the Crew Rod
One of the most exciting additions in the update is the new Crew Rod.
To purchase it, you’ll need a personal Crew Rating of 5,000. While that may sound like a lot at first, it’s actually very achievable once you start focusing on secret fish farming.
The Crew Rod comes with some impressive stats:
- 80% Lure Speed
- 100% Luck
- -0.1 Control
- 20% Resilience
- Infinite Max Weight
- 20% Progress Speed Boost
Even before unlocking its mastery rewards, it’s already a strong rod for endgame players.
What makes it special, however, is its mastery progression.
Why the Crew Rod Mastery Is Worth Grinding
The Crew Rod mastery rewards are surprisingly valuable.
As you level mastery, you’ll unlock several bonuses including Rainbow Totems, cosmetics, and other rewards. The biggest prize is the final mastery reward, which grants a Divine Secret enhancement for the Crew Rod.
This bonus potentially doubles your chances of obtaining Divine Secret fish.
For example, if a Divine Secret normally has a 1 in 10,000 chance to appear, the enhancement effectively improves those odds to around 1 in 5,000.
That is a massive improvement for anyone hunting extremely rare fish.
The mastery tasks themselves are fairly straightforward. Some require catching secret fish while others require perfect catches with the Crew Rod.
The longest grind is earning 5,000 personal Crew Rating, but you’ll naturally make progress toward this while farming points.
Best Way to Farm Crew Rating Fast
After testing different methods, secret fish farming is currently the fastest way to earn Crew Rating.
At the moment, Secret Fish appear to be the primary source of rating gains. Exotic fish don’t seem to contribute the same way, which means your focus should be entirely on maximizing secret fish catches.
This is why many top crews are farming Brine Pools almost nonstop.
Every secret fish caught contributes toward crew progress, and the faster you catch them, the faster your rating increases.
Farm Brine Storm Events
The strongest method right now revolves around Brine Storm events.
When a Brine Storm is active, players can repeatedly catch secret fish such as:
- Brine Sovereign
- Sea Storm
These fish appear frequently compared to many other secret fish in the game, making them excellent for farming rating.
The ideal setup involves activating a Shady Nuke and having multiple crew members fish together. This creates a huge amount of secret fish opportunities and can rapidly boost your crew’s rating.
However, don’t worry if you don’t have access to Shady Nukes.
You can still trigger Brine events through:
- Brine Totems
- Disturbance mechanics
Brine Totems are generally faster, but both methods work well.
Best Rods for Secret Fish Farming
The reason top players are progressing so quickly isn’t just because of Brine Storms. It’s also because they’re using rods that maximize secret fish efficiency.
One standout option is the Bayona Warax.
The rod is capable of catching secret fish incredibly quickly and can sometimes pull multiple secret fish in rapid succession. During extended farming sessions, players frequently report long streaks of consecutive secret catches.
If you don’t own the Bayona Warax, there are still several strong alternatives.
Good options include:
- Ripper Rod
- Moose Rod
- Cat Spawn Rod
- Play River Rod
The most important thing isn’t necessarily the rod itself. What matters is consistently catching secret fish as quickly as possible.
Recommended Boosts While Farming
If you’re serious about climbing the crew leaderboard, stack every boost available.
The most effective setup includes:
- Merlin Buff
- Luck Potions
- Lullaby Buffs
- Shell of Fortune
- Additional shell boosts
Shell of Fortune is particularly useful because it increases fish gains and appears to work well during secret fish farming sessions.
When combined together, these boosts can dramatically increase your overall rating gains.
Best Fishing Locations for Crew Rating
Not everyone wants to farm Brine Storms all day.
Fortunately, there are other excellent locations for secret fish farming.
The Ocean
The Ocean is currently one of the best general-purpose farming locations.
This is because there are two different secret fish available:
- Long Pike
- Mustard
With proper boosts active, you’ll encounter these fish regularly, making the Ocean a reliable source of Crew Rating.
If an Ancient Orca appears, make sure to catch it immediately since it also contributes valuable progress.
Sunstone Shore Pond
Another strong option is the pond area at Sunstone Shore.
The Secret Goldfish can be farmed here, although it requires considerably more luck than Ocean farming.
To maximize efficiency, use:
- Preferred bait
- Correct season
- Proper weather
- Rainbow Totems
Even then, Ocean farming is usually more consistent because you’re targeting multiple secret fish rather than a single rare spawn.
Should You Use Shady Nukes?
For most players, the answer is probably no.
Shady Nukes are extremely valuable and can be used for much more profitable activities.
If your only goal is Crew Rating, Brine Totems and disturbance farming will usually be enough.
However, if you’re already farming Scrips and secret fish, then activating a Shady Nuke can provide massive value because you’re progressing multiple goals simultaneously.
This is why many top crews are using them during organized group sessions.
New Dave’s Rod Skins
The update also added several new skins for Dave’s Rod through the Black Market.
Some of these cosmetics are relatively affordable, while others cost enormous amounts of credits.
One particular skin costs a staggering 50 billion credits, making it one of the most expensive cosmetic items currently available in Fisch.
For most players, this will be a very long-term goal rather than something to focus on immediately.
Don’t Forget Nico Potions
A surprising number of players overlook Nico Potions.
These potions provide excellent value and should almost always be purchased when available.
The benefits they provide easily justify the cost, especially if you’re spending long sessions farming secret fish and Crew Rating.
The Crews update has added a completely new reason to keep fishing in Fisch. Instead of grinding entirely on your own, players now benefit from working together, completing challenges, and coordinating farming sessions.
If your goal is maximizing Crew Rating as quickly as possible, focus on catching Secret Fish. Brine Storm farming remains the strongest method, especially when combined with crew members, powerful boosts, and the right fishing rods.
For players who prefer a more casual approach, Daily Challenges, Weekly Challenges, and Ocean secret fish farming still provide excellent progress.
Most importantly, start working toward the Crew Rod as soon as possible. Not only is it a strong rod on its own, but its mastery rewards may eventually make it one of the best tools for Divine Secret hunters in the entire game.
