The Potential system in Anime Zero replaces the previous Skill Tree and introduces new ways to improve your units. With the level cap increased to 200, choosing the right paths and upgrades is important if you want to get the most damage out of your team. Each weapon can now specialize in different paths, allowing you to build around Echo, Burn, or Swap depending on its role.

This guide explains the recommended Potential paths and nodes for Y Zero, Astral Blossom, and other weapons. The main setup focuses on Echo Trigger for your primary damage dealer, Power Rush for your secondary unit, and Burn Blast for weapons built around Burn damage.

Before spending your Potential points, there are two important restrictions to understand. Each weapon can only follow one specialization path at a time, meaning you cannot combine two exclusive paths on the same weapon. However, your primary and secondary weapons can use different specializations, allowing you to create combinations that support your overall damage rotation.

You should also pay attention to nodes marked as Pick One. These upgrades are mutually exclusive, so selecting one option will permanently block the alternative within that specialization. Your choice can also affect which upgrades become available later, making it important to plan your route before investing points.

Important Rules Before Upgrading Potential

Before you dive into spending those valuable Potential points, it’s key to grasp two major limitations. Firstly, every weapon is tied to just one specialization path at any moment; you can’t mix and match two exclusive paths on the same weapon. The cool part? Your primary and secondary weapons can both have different specializations! This flexibility allows you to whip up unique combinations that can enhance your overall damage output in exciting ways.

Keep an eye out for nodes that are marked as Pick One. These upgrades are exclusive to each other, meaning that picking one will entirely shut the door on the alternative in that specialization. It’s not just about the immediate choice; your decision here can influence which further upgrades become available later on. So, take your time to strategize your path before you start sinking points in.

If you’re looking for a solid setup, consider these fantastic combinations:

  • Y Zero: Pair it with Echo Trigger for some skill-based damage rotations that really pack a punch.
  • Astral Blossom: Switch with Power Rush to enhance secondary weapon damage, effectively giving support to your main unit.
  • Burn-focused weapons: Use Burn alongside Burn Blast for a sequence of damage detonations that’s hard to beat.

Best Echo Potential Path for Y Zero

Start by unlocking the main Echo power and investing in Loud Echo. The basic Echo effect stores 15% of the damage dealt by an eligible skill on its target. After the final hit, the stored damage normally activates after 1.2 seconds, giving you an additional source of damage without requiring another attack.

1. Echo and Loud Echo

When you reach the Pick One section, select Echo Trigger instead of Double Echo. This choice changes how your stored damage activates and provides a stronger result when used correctly. After selecting Echo Trigger, you will need to invest in Early Echo, which increases the damage of triggered Echoes by up to 70%.

Here is why this combination is recommended:

  • Loud Echo stores 18% of eligible skill damage.
  • Echo Trigger increases the stored damage by 70%.
  • The final triggered Echo can deal damage equal to 30.6% of the original skill damage.
  • Double Echo would provide a total of 23.4% instead.

2. Echo Trigger and Early Echo

However, Echo Trigger requires proper timing. It allows stored Echoes to wait for up to three seconds, and the first hit from a different skill activates the waiting Echoes on that target. This effect has a three-second cooldown per target, so you should follow one skill with another before the stored Echoes expire.

After upgrading the main Echo damage nodes, invest in Mix It Up and Quick Echo. These upgrades improve your skill rotation by rewarding you for using different abilities and helping you recover cooldowns faster. They are especially useful when playing Y Zero as your primary damage dealer.

Their effects include:

  • Mix It Up: Provides up to 7% additional damage to a skill when its first hit lands on an enemy that still has an Echo from a different skill.
  • Quick Echo: Reduces the matching skill’s cooldown by up to 0.9 seconds when its Echo activates. This effect has a six-second activation cooldown.

Both upgrades work well with Echo Trigger because they encourage you to alternate between different skills instead of repeatedly using the same ability.

Once you meet its requirements, unlock Echo Storm as another upgrade for your Echo setup. This node activates when you hit the same enemy with two different skills within four seconds, marking that target for five seconds. Your next basic attack against the marked enemy activates its remaining Echoes and reduces your last skill’s cooldown by 0.5 seconds.

3. Mix It Up and Quick Echo

Recommended Echo path:

  1. Unlock Echo.
  2. Max Loud Echo.
  3. Select Echo Trigger.
  4. Max Early Echo.
  5. Upgrade Mix It Up and Quick Echo.
  6. Unlock Echo Storm when available.

This is the recommended route for Y Zero if you want to focus on frequent skill usage and maximize Echo damage.

Burn is another strong Potential specialization, particularly for weapons that can repeatedly hit enemies with skills. Its main mechanic applies damage over time, allowing you to deal additional damage after your initial attacks. For this build, Burn Blast is the recommended Pick One option because it lets your skills detonate the remaining Burn damage before the effect finishes ticking.

Start by unlocking the main Burn power and maxing Hotter Burn. Every hit applies Burn damage that continues over three seconds. Hotter Burn increases the base Burn damage from 8% to 11% of the original hit’s damage when fully upgraded.

This upgrade is important because the entire specialization depends on applying Burn consistently. Increasing its base damage gives you more damage to work with when using Burn Blast later in the build.

4. Echo Storm

After selecting Burn Blast, focus on maxing Mega Blast. At maximum rank, this upgrade makes detonations deal 100% additional damage based on the Burn damage still remaining on the target.

For example, if an enemy has 1,000 Burn damage waiting to be applied, a fully upgraded Mega Blast can turn that remaining damage into a 2,000-damage detonation. The bonus only applies to the remaining Burn damage, so the final result depends on how much damage has already been dealt through the normal Burn ticks.

This is why Burn Blast works well with aggressive skill rotations. You can keep applying Burn and use another skill to detonate the remaining damage before the effect expires.

After completing the main Burn Blast upgrades, work toward unlocking Inferno. This node rewards you for maintaining Burn on an enemy over an extended period. You need to keep the target burning for six seconds without allowing more than three seconds to pass between new Burn applications.

Once Inferno activates, your attacks against that enemy deal 4% additional damage while it remains burning and for four seconds after the Burn effect ends. This makes it useful for longer fights where you can consistently maintain the effect.

Best Burn Potential Path for Damage Weapons

Recommended Burn path:

  1. Unlock Burn.
  2. Max Hotter Burn.
  3. Select Burn Blast.
  4. Max Mega Blast.
  5. Unlock Inferno when its requirements are met.
  6. Invest in Longer Burn and Burn Jump.

For this setup, the most important part of combat is keeping enemies affected by Burn and using skills frequently enough to detonate the remaining damage. This is particularly effective against enemies that survive multiple skill attacks.

1. Burn and Hotter Burn

Kick things off by unlocking the main Burn power and maxing out Hotter Burn. Each successful hit will apply Burn damage that keeps going for three seconds. When fully upgraded, Hotter Burn amps up the base Burn damage percentage from 8% to an impressive 11% of the original hit’s damage!

This upgrade is critical because the whole specialization hinges on your ability to apply Burn consistently. The boost to base damage gives you a much larger impact when you start utilizing Burn Blast later in your build.

2. Burn Blast and Mega Blast

When you reach the Pick One section, be sure to select Burn Blast over Burn Stack. Going with Burn Blast means that your skill hits have the ability to set off any leftover Burn damage on your target, and you can trigger this once every 0.5 seconds for each enemy. This feature is especially handy for weapons that can churn out skills on a regular basis, enhancing your damage output significantly.

Once you’ve opted for Burn Blast, your next focus should be on leveling up Mega Blast to its maximum. When it’s fully upgraded, Mega Blast becomes a game changer by adding an impressive 100% extra damage from the Burn damage still lingering on your target. It’s definitely worth the investment as it amplifies your explosive potential.

To illustrate this, picture an enemy that has 1,000 Burn damage ready to explode. With a maxed out Mega Blast, that remaining damage can translate into a massive 2,000-damage detonation! Just remember, the additional damage only applies to what’s left in the Burn pool, meaning the total damage output relies heavily on how much has already been dealt from the regular Burn ticks beforehand.

This is precisely why Burn Blast shines when paired with aggressive skill rotations. You can keep the Burn effects coming and swiftly follow up with another skill to trigger all that remaining damage before it fades away. It’s a rhythm of applying pressure and then reaping the rewards from it!

3. Inferno

After you’ve got the main Burn Blast upgrades handled, the next step is to unlock Inferno. This particular node truly rewards your efforts for keeping the Burn status alive on an enemy for a good stretch of time. You’ll need to keep them ignited for at least six seconds and make sure that no more than three seconds slips by between your new Burn applications.

Once you get Inferno up and running, it gives your attacks against that enemy a sweet 4% damage boost while they’re still burning and even for four seconds after the Burn effect wears off. This ability really comes in handy during extended battle engagements, allowing you to maintain a constant threat while leveraging your enhanced damage against your foes.

When you extend the Burn duration, you’re not just dealing more damage; you’re also ensuring that your sweet damage bonuses stay active for longer. That’s why it’s crucial to keep using your skills regularly if you want to fully enjoy the benefits of Inferno during a battle!

4. Longer Burn and Burn Jump

Once you’ve got those essential damage upgrades locked in, it’s time to turn your focus to Longer Burn and Burn Jump. These upgrades are like a cherry on top, as they enhance the effects related to Burn and help you cause damage to nearby foes, ensuring no enemy escapes your fiery wrath!

Burn Jump shines especially bright when you’re up against a horde. When you max it out, any enemy you take down while it’s burning will pass on 50% of its leftover Burn damage to up to three other enemies within an eight-stud radius. This damaging transfer happens over a span of 1.5 seconds, adding some serious firepower to your strategy!

Here’s the ideal path to mastering Burn:

  1. Unlock Burn.
  2. Max out Hotter Burn.
  3. Choose Burn Blast for added firepower.
  4. Max Mega Blast to really pack a punch.
  5. Unlock Inferno once you fit the criteria.
  6. Put points into Longer Burn and Burn Jump to expand your fiery dominance.

In this build, your main combat focus should be ensuring that your enemies are under the Burn effect while frequently using your skills to unleash any remaining damage. This tactic works wonders, especially against foes that cling on after multiple skill hits—don’t let them get away!

Best Swap Potential Path for Astral Blossom

Swap is tailor-made for those players who love to fluidly alternate between their main and secondary units in the heat of battle. Instead of keeping your secondary weapon at the ready for an entire skirmish, you can dynamically pull it out to unleash its unique powers, activate a temporary damage increase, and then smoothly transition back to your primary damage dealer. For this loadout, you’ll want to utilize Astral Blossom with its Power Rush ability while keeping Y Zero as your go-to primary weapon.

To unlock the full potential of this specialization, make sure you’ve got at least two different units at your disposal. When you switch over to your secondary unit, you’ll trigger the Swap In effect; however, be mindful that the damage boost won’t kick in straight away. You’ll need to land a skill hit within the activation window to set off that sweet bonus damage.

The basic Swap In effect dishes out a fantastic 22% extra damage for six seconds, and you can activate it once every 10 seconds. This means you can keep those damage boosts rolling during your combat encounters if you time it right!

1. Swap In and Quick Reset

Kick things off by unlocking Swap In and focusing on maximizing Quick Reset. This neat upgrade has a nifty effect: it shortens the longest skill cooldown for the character you switched away from by three seconds whenever the Swap In boost gets triggered. This little detail can really keep your gameplay flowing smoothly!

Take, for instance, the scenario where you’re switching from Y Zero over to Astral Blossom. By activating the boost, you’re able to bring the cooldown of Y Zero’s longest skill down, making it much easier to get back into the action with your primary weapon after a brief swap.

Quick Reset proves its worth especially in rotation schemes where you momentarily swap to Astral Blossom, then head back to Y Zero for another round of damage. This approach can really maximize your effectiveness during those critical moments in battle!

2. Power Rush and Bigger Rush

When you reach the Pick One section, make sure to select Power Rush instead of Long Rush. This choice is all about maximizing your impact in combat, as Power Rush grants a significant damage increase over a brief window. It’s the perfect choice for gamers looking to give their secondary unit a powerful boost before swiftly transitioning back to their primary weapon. You’ll feel the difference in your play style as you take advantage of that intense power surge!

Once you’ve committed to Power Rush, you’ll want to fully upgrade Bigger Rush. By doing this, you’ll maximize the damage bonus, pushing it to a whopping 55% while it lasts for an impressive four seconds. This upgrade will drastically enhance your overall effectiveness in battle, so don’t skip it!

Let’s break down how these two choices compare in terms of duration and damage: it’s like comparing apples to oranges!

  • Power Rush: This gem provides up to a fantastic 55% additional damage for four seconds when enhanced with Bigger Rush, making it a real powerhouse!
  • Long Rush: While it does offer a more extended effect, giving a 20% damage bonus for up to 15 seconds when fully upgraded, its output doesn’t quite match the intensity of Power Rush.

If you’re diving into the Astral Blossom setup, Power Rush is absolutely the way to go. The plan here is to trigger that damage boost, unleash your secondary unit’s abilities, and swiftly revert to Y Zero for maximum efficiency and effectiveness in your gameplay.

3. Ready Up and Safe Entry

After you’ve leveled up Quick Reset and Bigger Rush, it’s time to turn your attention toward investing in Ready Up and Safe Entry, all while aiming for the final Swap node. These upgrades are crucial because they not only make it easier to activate your temporary damage boost but also provide a safeguard while you’re in the midst of switching units. This added protection means you can focus on your strategy, knowing you’ve got a safety net during those critical moments!

Here’s what you need to know about the effects:

  • Ready Up: This nifty ability gives you an extra window of up to seven seconds to hit your skill that kicks off the Swap In bonus. Perfect for those tight moments!
  • Safe Entry: With this, you’ll enjoy a nice 16% damage reduction for three seconds right after the boost kicks in. It’s a crucial shield during heated exchanges!

Now, let’s dive a bit deeper into Ready Up—this one’s especially handy if your secondary unit needs that extra bit of time to get into position before landing a hit with their skill. On the flip side, Safe Entry really shines when you’re in the thick of battle because it grants you a short but effective defensive perk as you switch characters.

4. Pass It On

Your go-to focus for this Swap build is definitely Pass It On. To unlock this fantastic feature, you’ll need to choose a Pick One specialization and pour 15 points into Swap. Once you’ve done that, this nifty node allows you to hand over a damage bonus to the character who jumps into the fray after your current Swap boost kicks in. Teamwork makes the dream work, right?

Ready to set off the magic of Pass It On? Here’s how you can do it:

  1. First things first, activate your Swap In damage boost.
  2. Next, make sure to land a hit while the boost is still in play.
  3. Switch to another character before that boost runs out—ideally within two seconds after it ends.
  4. If you do it right, your new character will score a sweet 12% extra damage boost for the next three seconds. A perfect way to keep the pressure on!

It’s super important to remember that the 55% Power Rush bonus and the 12% Pass It On bonus work separately from each other. Power Rush specifically boosts the damage of the unit that activates it, while Pass It On provides a damage boost to the character that comes in next, creating a nice synergy when you time it right.

For a solid setup, I recommend rolling with Y Zero as your primary weapon and bringing Astral Blossom along as your sidekick. Start by switching to Astral Blossom, land a sweet skill hit to trigger Swap In, and promptly switch back to Y Zero within the time limit. This way, your main weapon can soak up the benefits of that Pass It On damage boost, making your hits even harder.

Here’s the suggested Swap path:

  1. First, unlock the Swap In ability so you can start swapping characters.
  2. Then, max out Quick Reset to make your cooldowns way quicker.
  3. Choose Power Rush to amp up your damage significantly.
  4. Max out Bigger Rush for even more power!
  5. Don’t forget to upgrade Ready Up and Safe Entry to enhance your character’s performance.
  6. Put in 15 points towards Swap for some additional capabilities.
  7. Finally, make sure to unlock Pass It On to get that extra damage bonus for incoming characters.

This route is fantastic because it gives Astral Blossom a robust temporary damage boost while also allowing Y Zero to recover its cooldowns quicker. Plus, when Y Zero jumps back into the fray, it can capitalize on the extra damage boost, keeping your plays dynamic and powerful.

Additional Potential Upgrade: Combo Power

If you find yourself sitting on some extra Potential points, consider investing in Combo Power as well. This upgrade is pretty neat since it rewards you for chaining basic attack combos before unleashing a skill, which significantly ramps up the damage of your next ability. It starts off with an 8% bonus, and it’s a great enhancement for builds that love mixing in regular hits with skill action.

To really get the most out of your attacks, it’s a great idea to finish your basic attack combo before diving into those heavy-hitting abilities. By doing this, you’re able to maximize your Combo Power without having to completely overhaul your typical Echo, Burn, or Swap rotations. It’s all about building that rhythm and flow in your gameplay.

Best Anime Zero Potential Build Summary

If you’re aiming for peak damage with the stellar combo of Y Zero and Astral Blossom, it’s key to customize your Potential specializations for each weapon. For Y Zero, your main damage strategy should focus on Echo Trigger, while for Astral Blossom, Power Rush and Pass It On will really help it shine. When it comes to dealing with Burn, opt for a different weapon specifically designed for consistently applying and detonating those Burn effects. The right choices here make a huge difference!

Here’s a setup that I highly recommend:

  • Y Zero: Make sure to include Echo, Loud Echo, Echo Trigger, Early Echo, Mix It Up, Quick Echo, and Echo Storm for your optimal loadout.
  • Astral Blossom: Go for Swap In, Quick Reset, Power Rush, Bigger Rush, Ready Up, Safe Entry, and Pass It On to keep your abilities juiced up.
  • Burn-focused weapon: Equip Burn, Hotter Burn, Burn Blast, Mega Blast, Inferno, Longer Burn, and Burn Jump to keep that fiery damage rolling.
  • Extra damage upgrade: Don’t forget about Combo Power, especially if you’re often nailing those basic attack combos, as it will significantly boost your overall damage output.

Keep in mind that these builds thrive on correctly activating their conditions. With Echo, switch things up between your various skills to set off that stored damage. For Burn, continuously apply the effects and detonate them before the remaining damage fizzles out. When working with Swap, hit with a skill before you switch back to your main weapon to optimize your damage. Using the right paths is just the beginning; you also need to maintain the correct combat rotation to truly unlock the full potential of each upgrade.
