In this post, I’ll go through the Anime Origins 1.0 update and everything added with the new Re:Zero content. This update brings new units, a major event, new stages, tournaments, a Battle Pass, currencies, materials, and a long list of quality-of-life changes.
The biggest part of the update is the new Pleiades Tower event, where you can take on stages with unique mechanics, seals that change how matches work, and the Return by Death system. There are also several new Re:Zero characters to collect through banners and event content.
If you are jumping into Anime Origins after the 1.0 update and want to know what you should focus on first, I’ll break down the new units, how the event works, how to get characters such as Shaula and Reinhardt, and the important new features added to the game.
Anime Origins 1.0 Update Guide – Codes, Pleiades Tower
The 1.0 update introduces several characters from Re:Zero.
The update features units including:
- Reinhardt
- Shaula
- Emilia
- Subaru
- Julius
The update information mentions multiple new units, including Mythic and Secret rarity characters. Some of these units are obtained through banners, while others require you to play the new event content.
Subaru, Emilia and Julius Are Banner Units
Subaru, Emilia, and Julius are available as banner units.
This means you will need to use the summoning system and rerolls to try and obtain them rather than earning all of them directly through the new stages.
If you are planning to collect every new Re:Zero unit, make sure you save enough resources for both the banners and the event content.
Pleiades Tower Event Explained
One of the biggest additions in the Anime Origins 1.0 update is the Pleiades Tower event.
The event features unique mechanics on different floors and stages. Each match can play differently because of the new Seal system.
You will need to clear trials and complete event stages to earn exclusive rewards.
The event also introduces special mechanics that can make stages easier or more difficult depending on how you prepare.
New Seals Change How Event Stages Work
New Seals appear throughout the event stages.
Each Seal changes the rules of the match in a different way, meaning you may need to adjust your strategy depending on the stage you are playing.
To counter these Seals, you can use Blessings.
Blessings can be purchased from Shaula’s Shop, and using the right Blessings can make the event stages much easier to handle.
So if you are struggling with a particular event mechanic, checking Shaula’s Shop for Blessings should be one of the first things you do.
Return by Death Mechanic
The Pleiades Tower also introduces the Return by Death mechanic.
When you lose a base stock after failing part of the trial, Return by Death can activate and send you back through the stage progression.
The event also includes attacks that require you to react and use the new parry mechanic correctly.
If you miss the required parry window, you can take damage and potentially lose a stock, which can trigger the Return by Death system.
How to Get Shaula
Shaula is one of the new event units available through the Pleiades Tower content.
To get her, you will need to play the relevant event stages and grind for her drop.
The rates shown were:
- Act 1: 2% drop chance
- Act 2: 5% drop chance
- Act 2 also includes a pity system
This means Act 2 gives you a better chance of obtaining Shaula, although you will first need to progress through the event content.
Shaula is also a Heal unit, making her especially interesting for players looking for a new support option.
Shaula’s Shop
Shaula also has an important shop connected to the event.
You can use the shop to obtain things such as:
- Blessings
- Evolution-related items
- Rerolls
- Other event resources
The shop can provide up to 50 rerolls based on the information shown, making it an important place to check while progressing through the update.
If you are actively grinding the Pleiades Tower, I would recommend checking the shop regularly so you do not miss useful resources.
How to Get Reinhardt
Reinhardt is another major unit added with the Re:Zero update.
Obtaining him involves progressing through the new stages and getting a Scorpion Key.
The general process involves clearing the required Trial content, obtaining the Scorpion Key, and then using it as part of the process to go after Reinhardt.
The drop chance shown for Reinhardt was extremely low, around 1%, so this may take significantly more grinding than getting some of the other new units.
How to Get the Scorpion Key
The Scorpion Key is an important item for progressing toward Reinhardt.
To obtain it, you need to clear the required Trial of Death content.
You will need to progress through the new stages and unlock the necessary Acts before you can continue through the full process.
The basic progression looks like this:
- Unlock the required event stage.
- Clear the Trial content.
- Obtain the Scorpion Key.
- Continue progressing through the required Acts.
- Use the key as part of the Reinhardt unlock process.
There are several steps involved, but the stages themselves do not appear to be extremely difficult once you understand their mechanics.
Four New Stages Added
The Anime Origins 1.0 update adds four new stages to explore.
The stages mentioned include:
- Sword Saint Garden
- Library of the Dead
- Sand Dunes
- Library of the Dead After Dark
Each stage is connected to the new Re:Zero event content and progression.
Some stages are important for obtaining specific materials and units, so you will want to work through all of them as you progress.
Sand Dunes Stage
The Sand Dunes stage includes a dangerous boss encounter.
You need to survive the encounter and pay attention to the boss’s attacks. Timing your parries correctly is important for surviving the stage.
After defeating the boss and clearing the stage, you can work toward obtaining the related rewards and drops.
If you are having trouble, focus on learning the timing of the attacks instead of simply relying on your units to do everything automatically.
Library of the Dead
The Library of the Dead is another important stage in the update.
This stage is connected to the Trial content and the process of obtaining the Scorpion Key.
Since the Scorpion Key is required for progressing toward Reinhardt, this is one of the stages you will eventually need to focus on if Reinhardt is your goal.
How the New Parry Mechanic Works
One of the more interesting mechanics in the new stages is the Parry system.
During certain attacks, you will receive a warning about an incoming attack.
You need to click within the correct parry window to successfully block the attack.
As you continue through the stage, the mechanic can become more difficult because the timing window becomes smaller.
The attack does not necessarily become faster, but the smaller parry window means you need to react more accurately.
Recommended Strategy for the New Stages
The new stages have enemies that can split across multiple paths.
Because of this, your team setup matters more than simply placing your strongest units anywhere on the map.
A good strategy is to use units that can quickly clear the early waves while preparing for enemies that split across different lanes.
You should also make sure your team has units capable of dealing with air enemies.
During the gameplay shown, flying enemies appeared during the stage, so forgetting to bring anti-air or Hybrid units can cause problems.
Bring Hybrid Units for Air Enemies
The new stages can include flying enemies.
Because of this, you should make sure your team has units capable of attacking air targets.
Hybrid units can be particularly useful because they give you more flexibility without requiring you to completely change your setup when air enemies appear.
Before starting a difficult event run, I would recommend checking your team and making sure you have at least one reliable way to handle flying enemies.
The New Event Has 20 Waves
The stage shown featured 20 waves.
The early waves did not appear to be especially difficult, making it possible to build your economy and place important units before the later parts of the stage.
The bigger challenge comes from managing the special mechanics, enemy paths, air units, and parry events.
So while your team composition is important, paying attention to the event mechanics is just as necessary.
New Battle Pass
Anime Origins 1.0 also introduces a new Battle Pass.
The Battle Pass offers another way to earn rewards while progressing through the game.
One useful feature mentioned is the ability to repeatedly work through some of the later rewards, making the Battle Pass valuable for players who are actively grinding the update.
Weekly Tournament Is Now Live
The update adds a new Weekly Tournament.
This gives players another recurring activity to participate in and provides more content outside of the main Re:Zero event.
If you are looking for something to do after finishing your daily event grinding, the Weekly Tournament is another feature worth checking.
New Currency: Scorpion Tokens
The update adds a new currency called Scorpion Tokens.
These tokens are part of the new event progression and are connected to the additional rewards and systems introduced with the Re:Zero update.
You will also find new materials and other resources added alongside the event.
New Artifacts
The update adds new artifacts, including:
- PLD 1
- PLD 2
Artifacts are now also more accessible because of additional replayability changes included with the update.
Rifts and Artifacts Are Now Replayable
One of the useful quality-of-life changes is that Rifts are now playable again, and Artifacts are replayable.
This gives players more freedom when farming and progressing instead of being limited by one-time completion.
For players who enjoy grinding specific rewards, this is one of the more useful improvements in the update.
Shiny Transfer Added
The update also adds a Shiny Transfer feature.
This is another major quality-of-life addition for players who collect units and want more flexibility when managing their Shiny characters.
New Party System
A new Party System has been added to Anime Origins.
This makes it easier for players to group up and play content together.
Since the update adds multiple stages and event activities, having an easier way to organize a team is a welcome addition.
Weekly Challenges
The update introduces Weekly Challenges.
These provide additional objectives and activities for players to complete over time.
Weekly content can also give you another reason to return and continue progressing even after completing your immediate event goals.
Unit Aura Effects Added
The update adds Unit Aura Effects.
This gives players more cosmetic customization options for their units.
Aura-related systems also received several adjustments and additions as part of the larger quality-of-life update.
Immortal Trades and Trade History
Trading also received improvements.
The update includes:
- Immortal Trades
- Trade History
Trade History is particularly useful because it gives you a way to keep track of previous trading activity.
Unit Manager and Phantom Placement
The update adds more management and placement features, including:
- Unit Manager
- Phantom Placement
- Aura upgrades
- Keybind improvements
These changes are designed to make unit management and gameplay more convenient.
New Emotes and Bundles
The update also adds:
- New emotes
- New bundles
- Additional materials
- New event-related resources
The Aura Monster was also mentioned among the new cosmetic and bundle-related content.
Anime Origins 1.0 Update Codes
The update also includes new codes that can provide rewards such as rerolls and Gems.
In the gameplay shown, redeeming the available codes provided a total of around 22 rerolls, along with additional Gems.
If you are starting the update with limited resources, redeeming the currently active codes should be one of the first things you do.
