If you’ve been playing Grow a Chicken Fighter for a while, you’ve probably noticed that not every chicken is worth spending your time on. Some are fine for progressing through the early game, while others can completely change how quickly you farm eggs and build your team.
So instead of throwing a giant list of chickens at you and calling everything “S-tier,” this guide focuses on the two chickens that stand out the most right now: Cycle of Ash and Voodoo.
I’ll also explain the egg progression needed to make them, because getting these chickens isn’t as simple as opening one egg and hoping for the best.
Grow a Chicken Fighter Best Chickens Tier List
Here’s the simple version if you just want to know what to aim for:
| Tier | Chicken / Build | Why It’s Good |
|---|---|---|
| S+ | 404 + Cycle of Ash | One of the strongest meta combinations |
| S+ | Reaper Rooster + Voodoo | Extremely powerful special combination |
| S | Radiant Fang Kang | Important part of the Cycle of Ash progression |
| S | Dollhind + Reaper Rooster | Needed for the Voodoo setup |
| A | Rooster of Fortune | Excellent Royal Egg progression |
| A | Zombie Chick | Strong Haunted Egg farming |
| B | Stone Face | Useful for improving Cursed Egg farming |
| B | Crest Rooster | Good starting point for Royal Eggs |
The important thing here is that the special skill matters a lot. You shouldn’t judge a chicken only by its name or appearance. When you’re building a strong chicken, pay attention to the special it can bring into a fusion.
Best Meta Specials to Look For
Specials are a huge part of building strong chickens in Grow a Chicken Fighter.
Some of the strongest specials mentioned for the current meta include:
- Voodoo
- Cycle of Ash
- Rebirth
- Ride of the Fallen
- Zarador
There are plenty of other combinations you can make, but if you’re trying to build toward the strongest setups, these are the types of specials worth keeping an eye on.
The two combinations I’d prioritize are Cycle of Ash and Voodoo.
Best Chicken #1: 404 + Cycle of Ash
The first major combination to work toward is the 404 + Cycle of Ash setup.
Getting there takes some farming, though, so don’t expect to have it immediately.
The basic progression starts with Scratch Eggs.
Start With Scratch Eggs
Your first goal is to farm as many Scratch Eggs as possible.
You can get these through the appropriate early-game chicken progression, eventually working toward the chickens that give you access to the Cursed Egg chain.
The NPC Trick is particularly useful here because it can produce a high percentage of Cursed Eggs.
Once you have the right chicken, keep farming those eggs until you can progress to the next step.
Get Stone Face
From the Cursed Egg progression, you want to work toward Stone Face.
Stone Face is especially useful because it can produce 100% Cursed Eggs.
That makes your farming much more consistent.
Once you have two Stone Faces, fuse them together.
The reason for doing this isn’t simply to get a different chicken. The fusion can improve the egg-laying timing, letting you progress through the egg chain more efficiently.
Keep Farming for 404
Once your Cursed Egg setup is running properly, keep farming until you eventually get the 404 chicken.
This is one of the important pieces of the Cycle of Ash combination.
And here’s a little trick that is easy to overlook: keep clicking your chicken while you’re farming.
Clicking can reduce the egg-laying timer, which means you can speed up the process instead of just standing around waiting.
It’s a small thing, but when you’re doing a lot of egg farming, those seconds add up.
Build the Royal Egg Side
Now you need to work on the other half of the Cycle of Ash setup.
Go back to the Scratch Egg progression and work toward Crest Rooster.
Crest Rooster can produce around 60% Royal Eggs, giving you access to the Royal Egg progression.
From there, farm Royal Eggs until you get Rooster of Fortune.
Rooster of Fortune can produce 100% Royal Eggs, making it much better for continuing this part of the grind.
Work Toward Radiant Fang Kang
Once you have the stronger Royal Egg producer, keep farming until you eventually get Radiant Fang Kang.
This is the other important piece you’ll need for the final fusion.
At this point, you’ll have spent quite a bit of time farming, so don’t rush the final fusion.
There’s one very important thing you should do first.
Lock the Special Before Fusing
This is probably the easiest mistake to make when you’re trying to build a high-end chicken.
Lock the special you want before performing the fusion.
If you have a chicken with a special that you specifically want to keep, use the lock option before fusing.
Otherwise, you risk losing the special you’re building around.
For the Cycle of Ash setup, make sure the relevant special is locked before you complete the fusion.
It sounds like a small detail, but losing a good special after spending all that time farming eggs is definitely not something you want to deal with.
Best Chicken #2: Reaper Rooster + Voodoo
The other major meta setup is the Reaper Rooster with Voodoo combination.
The progression for this one follows a different egg chain.
Start by farming the Nest Egg progression.
Get Cosmo Brat
From the Nest Egg, work toward Cosmo Brat.
Cosmo Brat is particularly useful because it can produce 100% Scratch Eggs.
Once you’ve got it, keep farming until you can move into the Arena Egg progression.
Get Slugger Hen
From the relevant Arena Egg progression, you’re looking for Slugger Hen.
Slugger Hen can produce around 75% Arena Eggs, which gives you a reliable way to continue farming this chain.
Keep working through the Arena Egg progression until you obtain Creepy Clone.
Move Into Haunted Eggs
Creepy Clone can produce Haunt Eggs, which opens up the next stage of the progression.
From the Haunted Egg chain, you want to work toward Zombie Chick.
Zombie Chick is particularly useful because it can produce 100% Haunted Eggs.
Once you’ve got two Zombie Chicks, fuse them together.
This gives you a stronger setup for farming Haunted Eggs and continuing toward the final chickens you need.
Get Dollhind and Reaper Rooster
Keep farming Haunted Eggs until you eventually get Dollhind and Reaper Rooster.
These are the two chickens you need for the Voodoo combination.
Once you have both, fuse them together.
But again, don’t forget the important part:
Lock Voodoo before you fuse.
That way, you’re protecting the special you’re actually trying to build around.
Why Voodoo and Cycle of Ash Are So Good
The reason these two combinations stand out is the strength of their specials.
You can have a great-looking or high-level chicken, but if its special isn’t useful, it may not compete with a properly built meta chicken.
That’s why the current approach is less about simply collecting the rarest chickens and more about building the right combinations and preserving the right specials.
If you’re starting from scratch, I’d focus on one of these two builds rather than trying to make ten different chickens at once.
How to Farm Eggs Faster
There are a couple of tricks that make the whole process considerably less painful.
Use the Incubator
The Incubator can help speed up your egg farming, so make use of it whenever you’re trying to build toward one of the higher-tier chickens.
When you’re farming large numbers of eggs, anything that cuts down the waiting time is useful.
Keep Clicking Your Chicken
Don’t forget about the clicking mechanic.
Clicking your chicken can reduce the time remaining before it lays another egg.
So rather than waiting for the timer to naturally finish, keep clicking while you’re farming.
It’s especially useful when you’re trying to generate hundreds of eggs during a long progression.
Fuse Chickens for Faster Laying
Fusing chickens isn’t only about making stronger chickens.
It can also help you create setups that lay eggs faster.
That’s extremely important when you’re working through several layers of egg progression. The faster your chickens produce eggs, the faster you can get back to hunting for the specific chicken you need.
Grow a Chicken Fighter Egg Progression
If you’re unsure which egg you need to farm next, think of the progression as a chain rather than individual chickens.
For the Cycle of Ash route, you’re mainly working through:
Scratch Egg → Cursed Egg → Stone Face → 404
and separately:
Scratch Egg → Royal Egg → Crest Rooster → Rooster of Fortune → Radiant Fang Kang
For the Voodoo route, the progression is:
Nest Egg → Cosmo Brat → Scratch Egg → Arena Egg → Slugger Hen → Haunted Egg → Creepy Clone → Zombie Chick → Dollhind / Reaper Rooster
The exact chickens you obtain along the way can take some luck, so be prepared to farm for a while.
Which Chicken Should You Get First?
If you’re asking me where I’d put my effort first, I’d focus on Cycle of Ash or Voodoo.
Both are strong end-goal setups, and there’s not much point in spending hours building a bunch of weaker combinations if you’re ultimately going to replace them.
I’d personally choose whichever progression you already have the better starting materials for.
Already sitting on a good Haunted Egg setup? Go for Reaper Rooster + Voodoo.
Already progressing through Cursed and Royal Eggs? Push toward 404 + Cycle of Ash.
That way, you’re working with what you already have instead of completely resetting your progress.
Final Grow a Chicken Fighter Tier List Verdict
The main takeaway is pretty simple: don’t just chase chickens, chase specials.
The two combinations I’d put at the top of the current list are:
S+ — 404 + Cycle of Ash
S+ — Reaper Rooster + Voodoo
The rest of the chickens are still useful because many of them are stepping stones toward these builds, but if your goal is to make one of the strongest chickens possible, these are the combinations I’d work toward.
And remember to lock your special before fusion. Seriously, don’t skip this part. After all that egg farming, losing the special you wanted because you forgot to lock it would be brutal.
With the Incubator, frequent clicking, and properly fused egg-laying chickens, you can speed up the grind considerably and eventually build one of the top meta chickens in Grow a Chicken Fighter.
