If you’ve just joined San Diego Border Roleplay after the latest update, you’re probably going to notice quite a few things have changed. This isn’t just a small map update either. We now have a completely new El Capo Mansion, a revamped bank, a new Coast Guard team, three boats, boat smuggling missions, new weapons, and some useful changes that make robbery preparation a lot easier.
I’ve gone through the new content, and there are a few additions that are especially worth knowing about. The new boat smuggling system is probably the biggest one for civilians, while the revamped bank gives both robbers and law enforcement a completely different layout to deal with.
So let’s go through everything that’s new and how each part works.
New El Capo Mansion
The first major addition is the brand-new El Capo Mansion.
If you own the required game pass, this is where you’ll spawn.
The mansion isn’t just a fancy new building either. It has several useful features built directly into it, making it much more practical than a simple cosmetic location.
You’ll find:
- Car spawners
- Ammo reload access
- Game pass-exclusive weapons
- Normal weapons/items
- A new painting to sell
- Ring-related content
- Money laundering
- Additional mansion facilities
So if you already own the game pass, you’ll probably be spending quite a bit of time here.
What Can You Do at the El Capo Mansion?
One of the biggest conveniences is having access to your equipment without needing to constantly travel somewhere else.
You can spawn vehicles at the mansion and reload your ammunition there.
There are also exclusive weapons available for game pass owners, alongside the normal items.
This makes the mansion feel more like a proper base rather than simply another building on the map.
New Paintings to Sell
The update also adds a new painting item that can be sold for money.
This gives players another way to make cash alongside the existing valuables, such as rings.
The new paintings can be collected and sold through the game’s money-making systems.
If you’re already familiar with the existing robbery and laundering mechanics, the painting system should be fairly easy to understand.
One small downside is that the money laundering area has been placed upstairs inside the mansion.
It’s convenient to have it there, but you’ll have to go upstairs whenever you want to use it.
How Much Money Do Paintings Give?
The amount you receive depends on the number of paintings you’re selling and whether you have the relevant game pass.
The update testing showed the payout for selling five paintings without the game pass, so paintings can be another useful source of income if you’re willing to farm them.
Rather than relying on only one money-making method, you can now mix paintings with the other valuables available in the game.
New Coast Guard Team
Law enforcement players also have something new to play with.
The update adds the Coast Guard team, and it works similarly to the other team-based roles in San Diego Border Roleplay.
You can rank up through the team and unlock additional equipment as you progress.
The weapon progression is familiar if you’ve already played Border Patrol or Police.
So if you’ve used those teams before, you shouldn’t have much trouble understanding how Coast Guard progression works.
But the Coast Guard has one major advantage that the land-based teams don’t have.
Boats.
Three New Coast Guard Boats
The update adds three new boats for the Coast Guard.
These include:
- Police Patrol Boat
- Response Boat
- Weaponized Boat
Each boat has its own speed and purpose, so you’ll want to pick the one that fits what you’re trying to do.
The boats also feel fairly responsive when turning, which is important because you’re going to be chasing players across the water.
Police Patrol Boat
The Police Patrol Boat is one of the standard options available to Coast Guard players.
It’s designed for general patrol and interception duties.
If you’re mainly trying to move around the water and respond to smuggling activity, this is a straightforward choice.
It’s also useful for getting familiar with the new water-based gameplay before moving on to the more specialized boats.
Response Boat
The Response Boat is another Coast Guard option.
As the name suggests, this is useful when you need to respond quickly to incidents around the water.
Since boat smuggling missions can send civilians across the border, having a fast response vehicle can make it easier for Coast Guard players to intercept them before they reach their destination.
Weaponized Boat
Then we have the Weaponized Boat.
This is obviously the more combat-focused option.
It gives Coast Guard players another way to engage smugglers while they’re out on the water.
The addition is particularly useful because the update doesn’t just add boats as transportation.
They’re actually part of the new gameplay loop.
How Boat Smuggling Works
This is probably the most interesting new feature for civilian players.
The update adds new smuggling docks, where you can start boat smuggling missions.
The dock is located relatively close to the spawn area, so it shouldn’t take forever to reach.
Once you arrive, you’ll find the smuggler NPC who gives you the new boat missions.
The system works similarly to the existing truck missions.
You accept a job, get into a boat, and transport the shipment across the border.
But there’s a major difference.
You’re now doing it on the water.
How to Start a Boat Smuggling Mission
The basic process is:
- Go to the new smuggling docks.
- Find the smuggler NPC.
- Accept one of the available boat missions.
- Take the assigned boat.
- Cross the border.
- Avoid the Coast Guard.
- Reach the black market.
- Complete the delivery and collect your money.
It’s a pretty simple concept, but the Coast Guard makes the trip much more dangerous.
Boat Smuggling Gives Good Money
One of the biggest reasons to try the new system is the payout.
The boat smuggling missions can give a lot of money when completed.
That makes them one of the more interesting civilian money-making options introduced in the update.
The catch is that you can’t simply drive straight across the border without consequences.
Once you cross the border in one of these boats, you’ll receive a one-star wanted level.
That means the Coast Guard now has a reason to come after you.
How to Escape the Coast Guard
The moment you cross the border, your job changes from simply transporting the shipment to actually surviving the trip.
You’ll need to avoid Coast Guard players and reach the black market.
The boats are responsive enough that you can make fairly sharp turns, which should help when you’re trying to escape.
Don’t just drive in a perfectly straight line if a Coast Guard boat is chasing you.
Use the water and your boat’s turning ability to your advantage.
The better you become at controlling the boat, the easier these missions should become.
New Bank Revamp
The bank has received one of the biggest changes in the update.
Instead of simply having the old layout, the entire bank has been revamped.
There are now two main entrances, giving players more options when entering and escaping.
This is important because the new layout also adds additional security mechanics.
Bank Main Entrance
The first entrance is the main gate.
It’s the obvious route into the bank, but it’s not the only option anymore.
If you want a different approach, there’s now a second entrance around the back.
That second route takes you underground, where you’ll have to deal with additional obstacles.

The back entrance takes you underground.
Once you’re down there, you’ll encounter lasers and cameras.
The lasers can damage your health, so you’ll need to be careful while moving through this section.
The cameras are another potential problem because they can alert the police.
This means the revamped bank isn’t simply about grabbing money.
You also have to pay attention to how you’re moving through the building.
Bank Lasers
The lasers are particularly dangerous if you try to rush through the underground area.
They can take away your health, so blindly running through them isn’t a great strategy.
Take your time when necessary.
If you’re already low on health, getting caught by multiple laser sections can turn a successful robbery into a failed one very quickly.
Bank Cameras
The new cameras are another security feature.
They can potentially alert law enforcement when you’re trying to move through the bank.
That means stealth and awareness are more important than before.
If you’re playing with a group, it’s also worth communicating with your teammates rather than everyone running around randomly.
The Bank Now Has More Money
One of the best changes is the increased amount of money available inside the bank.
Previously, even with several people inside the bank, the payout could feel surprisingly low.
The update significantly improves the amount of money available.
The money itself has also been buffed, meaning the overall payout from the robbery is now much better.
So if you haven’t robbed the bank since the update, it’s definitely worth checking out the new version.
New Bank C4 Escape Route
The update also adds a new way to escape the bank.
You’ll need C4 to access it.
Place the C4 on the designated wall and let it blow the wall open.
Once the wall has been destroyed, you’ll have access to another escape route.
This is particularly useful if the main entrances are being heavily watched by police.
Bank C4 Exit – Hatch Route
After opening the wall with C4, one of the available paths takes you through a hatch.
This route brings you out near the front of the bank.
So if you’re trying to get away quickly and don’t want to use the normal entrance, this can give you another option.
It’s also useful for confusing players who are waiting around the obvious exits.
Bank C4 Exit – Stairs Route
The other option is the stairs.
Taking the stairs sends you toward the nearby skyscraper area.
This gives you a different escape direction from the hatch.
So after blowing the wall open, you effectively have two additional choices:
Hatch → near the bank
Stairs → skyscraper area
That extra flexibility can make a big difference when law enforcement is already surrounding the bank.
Best Bank Escape Strategy
Don’t always use the same exit.
If police players already know that you’re going through the main entrance, switch things up.
The new C4 route gives you another option, and because it has two paths after the wall is opened, you can adapt your escape depending on where the police are positioned.
For organized groups, having one player check the route ahead while the others collect the money can make the escape much smoother.
New Weapons in the City Gun Store
Another useful addition is the new weapons available from the city’s gun store.
The biggest change is that you can now purchase an AK-47 directly instead of having to rely on smuggling it.
That makes getting the weapon much more convenient.
You no longer have to risk going through an inspection simply to obtain one.
Crowbar and C4 Are Now Easier to Get
The update also makes robbery preparation much easier.
You can now purchase Crowbars and C4 directly from the city.
Previously, you had to travel back to the relevant location to get these items.
Now you can simply buy them in the city.
This is a really nice quality-of-life change because it cuts down on unnecessary travel.
If you’re planning to rob the bank or jewelry store, you can prepare much more quickly.
