Flying is one of those things in Palworld that completely changes how you play. The moment you unlock your first flying mount, the world suddenly feels much smaller. Resource runs become quicker, Alpha Pal hunting gets easier, and reaching hidden islands or mountain peaks stops being a chore.
But here’s something I learned after spending far too much time swapping between different flying Pals: the fastest mount isn’t always the best one.
A Pal with insane speed might burn through its stamina before you even reach your destination, while another that’s slightly slower can fly across half the map without stopping. Some flying Pals are incredible combat companions, others are amazing for farming materials, and a few even boost your own weapon damage while you’re riding them.
So instead of looking at speed alone, this tier list ranks every flying mount based on what actually matters during normal gameplay—travel speed, stamina, usefulness in combat, progression, and special abilities.
Whether you’re just unlocking your first saddle or you’re hunting the absolute best endgame mount, here’s how every flying Pal stacks up in Version 1.0.

SS Tier – The Absolute Best Flying Mounts
These are the mounts you’ll eventually want once you’ve reached late-game content. They’re simply on another level.
Jetragon
If speed is the only thing you care about, nothing beats Jetragon.
The difference is noticeable the second you take off. Long stretches of the map disappear in seconds, making it the fastest way to travel anywhere in Palworld.
The only drawback is stamina.
Jetragon can empty its stamina bar surprisingly quickly if you’re flying continuously, so you’ll occasionally need short breaks on long journeys.
It also comes with its own built-in Missile Launcher while mounted, giving it one of the coolest mount abilities in the entire game.
Pros
- Fastest flying speed in the game
- Incredible for farming routes
- Built-in missile launcher
- Amazing for quick travel
Cons
- Lower stamina than other top-tier mounts
- Very late-game unlock
Best for
Players who want maximum speed above everything else.
Xenolord
If someone asked me to recommend only one flying mount for general gameplay, I’d probably choose Xenolord.
Yes, it’s a little slower than Jetragon.
But honestly?
You barely notice the difference during normal exploration.
What you do notice is how much longer it can stay in the air thanks to its excellent stamina. Long exploration sessions feel much smoother because you don’t have to land nearly as often.
For overall convenience, Xenolord is arguably the most practical flying mount in Version 1.0.
Pros
- Outstanding stamina
- Extremely high movement speed
- Better for long-distance exploration
- Easier to use continuously
Cons
- Slightly slower than Jetragon
Best for
Players who value endurance and consistent exploration.
S Tier – Elite Flying Mounts
These mounts aren’t quite SS Tier, but they’re still among the strongest flyers available.
Panthalus
Panthalus is one of the most unique flying mounts in the game.
Instead of relying on sprinting to become faster, it naturally maintains an incredibly high movement speed. That means you conserve stamina while still moving extremely quickly.
Its enormous body also acts as a floating platform, making certain fights and exploration situations surprisingly useful.
If you enjoy creative gameplay, Panthalus offers something few other flying Pals can.
Shaolong
Shaolong is almost ridiculously fast.
It’s easily one of the quickest flying mounts available, making travel feel smooth and satisfying.
The downside is that its stamina pool isn’t particularly impressive.
You’ll spend less time flying before needing to recover, but if your trips are relatively short, Shaolong is fantastic.
It’s also a powerful Dragon combat companion, especially alongside other Dragon-type Pals.
Eidrolon
Eidrolon blends mobility with combat.
Its movement speed is already impressive, but it becomes even faster depending on your party composition. If you’re running multiple Dragon and Dark Pals, Eidrolon gains additional movement speed, making it an excellent choice for specialized teams.
It also performs very well in combat, giving it excellent all-around value.
Eidrolon Ignis
Think of this as the Fire-focused version of Eidrolon.
Instead of Dark teammates, it benefits from Dragon and Fire party members.
The result is another excellent hybrid mount that combines good travel speed with strong combat potential.
Players building Fire-focused teams will get more value here than with many traditional flying mounts.
A Tier – Reliable Endgame Choices
These mounts may not dominate speed rankings, but they’re incredibly dependable.
Frostallion
Frostallion remains one of the strongest all-around Pals in Palworld.
Its flying speed is very respectable, and its stamina pool is excellent, making long exploration trips comfortable.
Where Frostallion truly shines is combat.
Mounted combat becomes significantly stronger thanks to its Ice damage bonuses, making it one of the best choices for players who enjoy fighting while flying.
Frostallion Noct
Frostallion Noct offers nearly identical travel performance while focusing on Dark damage instead.
It combines excellent stamina, reliable movement, and outstanding combat utility.
If your build revolves around Dark attacks, this version may actually outperform standard Frostallion.
Shadowbeak
Shadowbeak has remained popular for good reason.
It’s fast enough for everyday exploration while offering strong stamina and excellent mounted combat capabilities.
Many players continue using Shadowbeak well into late-game simply because it feels balanced in almost every category.
Selyne
Selyne is one of the more underrated flying mounts.
It offers reliable speed, impressive stamina, and excellent mounted combat performance.
For players who like versatile companions instead of specialists, Selyne rarely disappoints.
B Tier – Great Mid-Game Flying Mounts
These Pals won’t compete with the strongest endgame flyers, but they’ll easily carry you through most of the game.
Quivern
One of the first flying mounts that genuinely feels powerful.
Good speed, decent stamina, and Dragon attack bonuses make Quivern a favorite during mid-game progression.
Quivern Botan
Quivern Botan trades Dragon focus for Grass utility.
If your combat build revolves around Grass attacks, it’s a solid alternative while maintaining respectable flying performance.
Faleris
Faleris is still an enjoyable mount despite newer additions pushing it lower in the rankings.
Its biggest advantage is increasing Ice Pal material drops, making it valuable for farming specific resources.
Faleris Aqua
Works similarly to Faleris but focuses on improving drops from Fire-type enemies.
Worth keeping around if you’re farming crafting materials regularly.
Roujay
Roujay offers balanced mobility without excelling in any one category.
It’s dependable, easy to use, and perfectly capable of handling normal exploration.
Beakon
Beakon’s biggest appeal isn’t speed.
While mounted, it infuses your attacks with Electricity, allowing your own weapons to deal Electric damage.
That alone makes it much more valuable than its movement speed suggests.
Beakon Cryst
Very similar to standard Beakon, although it generally offers fewer advantages overall compared to newer flying mounts.
Ragnahawk
Ragnahawk remains one of the better elemental support mounts.
It grants Fire infusion to player attacks, making ranged combat noticeably stronger while mounted.
C Tier – Situational Flying Mounts
These mounts still work perfectly fine but are usually chosen for their special abilities rather than raw flight performance.
Helzephyr
A decent Dark flying mount with respectable mobility.
Its main attraction is Dark elemental infusion while mounted.
Helzephyr Lux
Helzephyr Lux performs similarly while granting Electric elemental attacks.
Great if your weapon setup benefits from Electricity.
Suzaku
Suzaku enhances Fire damage while mounted, making it useful for Fire-focused combat builds.
Travel speed, however, falls behind stronger late-game flyers.
Suzaku Aqua
Water-focused version of Suzaku.
Players using Water attacks can benefit from the additional elemental bonuses.
Astegon
Astegon isn’t really famous for flying.
Instead, it’s one of the best mining companions in the game.
Recent updates also improved its Ore farming efficiency, making it incredibly useful for gathering resources.
Elphidran
Elphidran offers average flight performance but boosts Dark Pal item drops.
For farming rare materials, that utility can sometimes matter more than speed.
Elphidran Aqua
Similar idea, except it increases Fire Pal drops instead.
Not amazing for exploration, but excellent during farming sessions.
Dynamoff
Dynamoff simply struggles to compete against newer Version 1.0 flying mounts.
It works, but there are usually better alternatives available by the time you unlock it.
D Tier – Early Game Flyers
These are mostly stepping stones until something better becomes available.
Vanwyrm
One of the earliest usable flying mounts.
It gets the job done, but both speed and stamina feel limited compared to later options.
Vanwyrm Cryst
Slight variation of Vanwyrm with similar overall performance.
Useful early, quickly replaced later.
Nitewing
Almost everyone starts their flying journey with Nitewing.
It’s slow.
Its stamina isn’t impressive.
But unlocking flight for the first time completely changes exploration, making Nitewing incredibly valuable despite its low ranking.
Think of it as your first airplane before eventually upgrading to a fighter jet.
Best Flying Mounts Throughout Your Adventure
You don’t need to jump straight to Jetragon.
A much smoother progression looks like this:
| Stage | Recommended Flying Mount |
|---|---|
| Early Game | Nitewing |
| Early Upgrade | Elphidran |
| Mid Game | Quivern |
| Mid-Late Game | Selyne |
| End Game | Xenolord |
| Ultimate Speed | Jetragon |
Each upgrade feels meaningful and helps keep exploration comfortable as the world opens up.
Flying Mounts With the Best Special Abilities
Sometimes utility matters more than pure speed.
Best for Combat
- Frostallion
- Frostallion Noct
- Shadowbeak
- Selyne
- Shaolong
- Eidrolon
These mounts provide excellent combat performance while remaining strong flyers.
Best for Farming Materials
- Faleris
- Faleris Aqua
- Elphidran
- Elphidran Aqua
- Astegon
Perfect choices if you’re gathering rare crafting resources.
Best for Weapon Element Infusion
These mounts temporarily change your weapon’s element while riding:
- Ragnahawk – Fire
- Frostallion – Ice
- Beakon – Electric
- Helzephyr Lux – Electric
- Helzephyr – Dark
- Frostallion Noct – Dark
This can noticeably increase your damage when fighting enemies weak to those elements.
Version 1.0 has introduced several incredible flying mounts, but choosing the “best” one really depends on how you play.
If your only goal is getting from one side of the map to the other as fast as possible, Jetragon remains unmatched.
If you spend hours exploring, farming, or simply don’t want to stop every few minutes because of stamina, Xenolord is arguably the most complete flying mount in the game.
For everyone still progressing through the story, don’t worry about chasing endgame mounts immediately. Quivern, Shadowbeak, Selyne, and Frostallion all offer excellent performance long before you unlock the absolute best flyers.
At the end of the day, the best flying Pal is the one that fits your adventure. Some players value raw speed, others prefer combat strength or utility, and Palworld thankfully gives you plenty of great options for every playstyle.
