Weapons are the heart of survival in Examination. Whether you’re clearing narrow hallways, holding off a wave of infected, or pushing through Sector 3, the weapon you’re carrying can make a huge difference. Some guns are forgiving and beginner-friendly, while others reward accuracy and careful ammo management.

This guide covers every weapon category currently available in Examination, explains the strengths of notable firearms, and shows where special weapons can be found.

Examination Weapons Guide – Every Weapon Type, Best Guns & Where to Find Them

Weapons in Examination are divided into six main groups:

  • Handguns
  • Submachine Guns
  • Shotguns
  • Rifles
  • Loot Weapons
  • Contraband Weapons
  • Exclusive Weapons

Each class starts with different weapons, but you’ll also discover additional firearms while exploring the facility.

Handguns

Handguns serve as your backup weapon when your primary runs out of ammunition.

They’re fast to switch to and can easily save you during emergency situations.

A9 Brigadier

The A9 Brigadier is the standard sidearm issued to most players.

Who Uses It

  • Classless players
  • Standard Classes

Strengths

  • Reliable backup weapon
  • Simple to use
  • Comes equipped with a flashlight

While it isn’t the strongest handgun, it performs well throughout the early portions of a run.

Lock-17

The Lock-17 is an upgraded version of the A9 Brigadier.

Who Uses It

  • Special-Ops Classes
  • Classless players with the rank of Sergeant or higher

Magazine Capacity

  • 17 rounds

Strengths

Compared to the A9 Brigadier, the Lock-17 offers:

  • Larger magazine
  • More reserve ammunition
  • Lower recoil
  • Excellent accuracy

Although each shot deals slightly less damage than the Brigadier, the improved control and larger magazine usually make it the stronger overall sidearm.

Best Use

The Lock-17 excels as a dependable backup weapon whenever your primary weapon runs dry.

F7 Lynx

The F7 Lynx is the Commander’s exclusive handgun.

Who Uses It

  • Commander

Magazine Capacity

  • 20 rounds

Strengths

The Lynx has the largest magazine of any standard handgun.

Advantages include:

  • Highest magazine capacity
  • Excellent for extended firefights
  • More forgiving if shots are missed

Weaknesses

The larger magazine comes with trade-offs.

  • Only six spare magazines
  • Stronger recoil than the Lock-17

Because of its limited reserve ammo, it should still be treated as a secondary weapon rather than your primary source of damage.

Submachine Guns

Submachine guns combine high mobility with generous ammunition supplies.

They’re especially effective during close-quarters combat inside the laboratory.

SMX-9

The SMX-9 is the default weapon for the Standard class.

It’s also one of the easiest weapons for new players to learn.

Strengths

  • Very low recoil
  • Large ammo capacity
  • Balanced damage
  • Easy handling

It doesn’t dominate any single category, but it performs consistently well in almost every situation.

Fire Modes

The SMX-9 supports three firing modes:

  • Full Auto
  • Three-Round Burst
  • Semi-Automatic

This flexibility lets players adapt to different engagement ranges without changing weapons.

Weaknesses

The only real downsides are:

  • Average fire rate
  • Bright muzzle flash

Neither issue significantly affects everyday gameplay.

Best For

  • Beginners
  • General-purpose combat
  • Learning weapon mechanics

MPV-SD

The MPV-SD is used by the Operator class.

Although detailed statistics aren’t currently available, it’s designed as an upgraded Special-Ops SMG suitable for experienced players.

VGS-9

The VGS-9 serves as the Medic’s primary weapon.

It balances respectable damage with support-focused gameplay, allowing Medics to defend themselves while staying close to teammates.

VGS-45 “Striker”

The VGS-45 “Striker” is the upgraded weapon issued to Corpsman.

As a Special-Ops firearm, it provides stronger combat performance while maintaining the Corpsman’s healing role.

Shotguns

Shotguns specialize in devastating close-range combat.

Few enemies survive a direct hit.

SRS-58

The SRS-58 is issued to Breacher.

Its high stopping power makes it ideal for clearing rooms and holding choke points.

Best For

  • Close-range combat
  • Doorway defense
  • Aggressive playstyles

PMS-12T “Hammer”

The Hammer serves as Pointman’s primary weapon.

Like other shotguns, it excels at eliminating enemies up close while supporting Pointman’s frontline role.

Rifles

Rifles provide consistent performance across nearly every combat situation.

They’re generally preferred by players who value precision and sustained fire.

IA AR-56

The IA AR-56 is carried by the Leader class.

It combines solid firepower with the Leader’s supportive equipment, making it an excellent weapon for organized squads.

AR-19 “Phantom”

The Phantom is one of the Commander’s available primary weapons.

Players can choose it when they want a versatile assault rifle capable of handling most combat encounters.

SR-58 “Spearhead”

Commander players may also choose the SR-58 Spearhead.

Compared to the Phantom, it’s intended for players who prefer more precise, longer-range engagements.

Loot Weapons

Several weapons aren’t tied to classes at all.

Instead, they’re found while exploring the map or dropped by defeated enemies.

Loot weapons include:

  • Beanbag Shotgun
  • P95 “Knight”
  • Axe
  • Green Axe
  • Sledgehammer

Since these weapons depend on exploration and enemy drops, availability varies from run to run.

Beanbag Shotgun

The Beanbag Shotgun also serves as the Rioter subclass’s primary weapon.

Unlike traditional firearms, it’s acquired during gameplay rather than selected beforehand.

Melee Weapons

Examination also features several melee weapons.

Current melee options include:

Axe

A reliable melee weapon found throughout the map.

Green Axe

A variation of the standard Axe with a different appearance.

Sledgehammer

A heavier melee weapon capable of dealing powerful hits at close range.

Contraband Weapons

Sector 3 introduces a completely different set of firearms.

These Contraband Weapons can only be found inside special crates.

Available Contraband weapons include:

  • R-12
  • SHC-23
  • AK-74
  • AEN-50

Because they require reaching the later stages of the game, they’re much rarer than standard equipment.

Exclusive Weapons

Some firearms are exclusive rewards or limited items.

Current exclusive weapons include:

  • M1911
  • Arcturus .50

These aren’t part of the normal class system and are significantly less common than standard weapons.

Roblox Examination Weapons Tier List

The answer depends on your role and playstyle.

SMX-9 is the best choice for beginners thanks to its low recoil, flexible fire modes, and forgiving ammo capacity.

Lock-17 is arguably the strongest general-purpose sidearm, offering excellent accuracy and a larger magazine than the A9 Brigadier.

F7 Lynx shines in longer firefights with its 20-round magazine, though its limited reserve ammo means you’ll still want to rely primarily on your main weapon.

Shotguns like the SRS-58 and PMS-12T Hammer dominate at close range, making them ideal for clearing tight corridors.

Commander rifles, including the AR-19 Phantom and SR-58 Spearhead, provide excellent versatility for experienced players.

Examination offers a solid variety of weapons, with each category filling a distinct role. Handguns are dependable emergency backups, SMGs are easy to handle and great for general combat, shotguns excel in close-quarters encounters, and rifles reward players who prefer precision and sustained fire. As you progress into later sectors, discovering Loot and Contraband weapons adds even more variety to each run.

Rather than searching for a single “best” gun, it’s usually more effective to pick weapons that complement your class and the situation. A Medic benefits from staying mobile with reliable firepower, while a Breacher gets the most value from a hard-hitting shotgun. Understanding each weapon’s strengths will make surviving the Itagura facility much easier.
