Choosing the Fiend path in Devil Hunter is a completely different experience from playing as a regular Devil Hunter. You won’t be relying on traditional weapons, your progression is tied to Fear, and unlocking your strongest abilities requires a different approach altogether.
That might sound a little overwhelming at first, but once you understand how the Fiend system works, leveling becomes much more straightforward. This guide covers everything you need to know, from your first tutorial mission to late-game raids, passive skills, and the best stat build for Fiends.
Complete the Tutorial First
Like every other character path, your journey starts with the tutorial.
Finish the introductory missions before worrying about builds or farming.
One important difference is that Fiends cannot use the normal weapons sold by weapon vendors. Instead, every Fiend fights using its own unique abilities and weapon style, so don’t waste time trying to purchase standard weapons.
During the early tutorial you’ll also:
- Join a Division.
- Meet the Blood Fiend NPC.
- Unlock additional Fiend-related missions.
Complete every available beginner quest before moving on to harder content.
Understanding the Star Rank System
Your overall progression is tied to the star system shown in the upper-left corner of your screen.
As you complete missions and objectives, you’ll earn stars.
Once you reach five stars, you’ll receive a promotion mission that allows you to rank up.
A simple way to progress is by combining:
- Division quests
- Blood Fiend missions
- Regular missions
Doing all three naturally pushes your rank higher without needing to grind one activity repeatedly.
Best Missions for Fast Progression
Once you’ve unlocked missions, you’ll have several options available.
The most efficient order is:
- Cleanup Duty
- Hold the Line
- Other available missions
Cleanup Duty offers fast experience and steady progression, making it one of the best missions to farm during the early game.
Open Every Loot Crate
After completing missions, you’ll receive Loot Crates.
These contain useful rewards including:
- Accessories
- Equipment
- Various upgrade materials
Even if the item isn’t an immediate upgrade, it’s still worth opening every crate since you’ll gradually build a useful collection for later.
Best Fiend Stat Build
Unlike Devil Hunters, Fiends don’t need every stat.
Several attributes simply aren’t important for this playstyle.
Ignore These Stats
You generally don’t need to invest points into:
- Sanity
- Technique
Those stats offer very little value for Fiend builds.
Prioritize These Stats
Instead, focus your points on:
- Resistance
- Health
- Strength
- Speed (situational)
Resistance
Resistance increases your regeneration while fighting.
Since Fiends often remain in combat for long periods, this stat provides excellent survivability.
Health
Health directly increases your maximum HP.
More health means more room for mistakes during bosses, raids, and PvP encounters.
Strength
Strength boosts your overall damage output.
Nearly every Fiend build benefits from investing heavily here.
Speed
Speed isn’t always necessary.
However, if you’re using something like the Stone Devil Trunk, adding some Speed can make the build feel much smoother.
Otherwise, Resistance, Health, and Strength should remain your priorities.
What Does Fear Do?
Fear is one of the most important mechanics for every Fiend.
Instead of simply increasing damage, Fear allows you to unlock new skills from your Fiend’s skill tree.
Every Fiend has unique abilities, including:
- Angel Fiend
- Shark Fiend
- Blood Fiend
- Nail Fiend
As your Fear increases, you’ll unlock stronger abilities specific to your chosen Fiend.
Without enough Fear, many skills remain locked.
How to Increase Fear Quickly
Fortunately, there are several ways to gain Fear.
Eat Body Parts
One of the fastest methods is consuming:
- Hearts
- Arms
- Legs
- Common Devil Flesh
Eating these materials steadily increases your Fear level.
Defeat Players
PvP victories also reward Fear.
If you’re comfortable fighting other players, this becomes another reliable source.
Kill Devils and NPCs
Regular PvE farming works as well.
Defeating Devils and NPC enemies naturally builds Fear while also helping with experience and progression.
Using all three methods together is the fastest way to unlock your Fiend abilities.
Late-Game Progression
Once you reach ranks like Junior Hunter, progression shifts toward raid farming.
This is where most of your levels and valuable rewards come from.
The three major raids are:
- Katana Raid
- Eternity Raid
- Zombie Raid
Learning these raids is one of the biggest steps toward reaching Elite Hunter.
Katana Raid Guide
The Katana Raid consists of several stages.
The early sections mainly involve defeating groups of enemies before eventually facing the Ghost Devil and finally Katana Man.
One useful trick during the final boss is to retreat behind nearby cover whenever your health gets low.
Katana Man struggles to attack players positioned correctly, allowing you to safely recover before continuing the fight.
The Ghost Devil encountered earlier in the raid also has a chance to drop its contract, making this raid worthwhile even beyond experience farming.
Eternity Raid Guide
The Eternity Raid is more puzzle-focused than the others.
Your objective is to:
- Search rooms.
- Find three keys.
- Open the safe.
- Escape into the safe room.
- Attack the Eternity Devil’s core.
Unlike many bosses, the Eternity Devil isn’t particularly dangerous, making this one of the easier raids once you understand the mechanics.
Zombie Raid Guide
The Zombie Raid alternates between clearing enemy waves and damaging the Zombie Devil.
A useful mechanic many players miss is the anchor.
After climbing the ladder, dropping the anchor removes an entire health bar from the Zombie Devil.
During the fight:
- Eliminate every zombie.
- Wait for the Zombie Devil to become stunned.
- Attack the boss.
- Repeat until it’s defeated.
It’s a simple pattern once you understand how the stun mechanic works.
Why You Should Farm Raids
All three raids provide:
- Large amounts of experience
- Valuable drops
- Faster rank progression
If your goal is reaching Elite Hunter as quickly as possible, raids should become your primary activity.
Understanding Devil Passives
Another major part of Fiend progression is collecting Devil Passives.
When defeating enemies, you’ll occasionally obtain different Devil Flesh items.
Consuming these grants unique passive abilities.
Examples include effects that:
- Drain enemy health.
- Improve combat performance.
- Add special bonuses during battle.
These passive effects can dramatically improve your overall strength.
Unlock More Passive Slots
At first, you’ll only have limited passive space.
Fortunately, there’s an NPC who allows you to unlock additional passive slots.
Eventually, you can equip up to three Devil Passives simultaneously, making your build significantly stronger.
If you plan to play Fiend long-term, unlocking all three slots should be one of your priorities.
Remove Fiend Vanity Effects
Some Devil Flesh also adds cosmetic changes to your character.
For example, consuming Shark-related Devil Flesh may give your character visible shark fins.
If you don’t like these appearances, you can visit the Vanity NPC and remove them for a fee.
The cosmetic removal doesn’t affect your passive bonuses—it only changes your appearance.
Recommended Fiend Build
For most Fiends, a balanced build works extremely well.
A solid setup is:
- High Resistance
- High Health
- Moderate to High Strength
Only invest heavily into Speed if your specific Fiend or weapon benefits from faster movement.
Angel Fiend, in particular, performs very well with extra Health and Resistance, allowing it to survive much longer during difficult fights.
The Fiend progression system in Devil Hunter may look complicated at first, but it’s actually fairly straightforward once you understand the core mechanics. Complete your tutorial, finish Division and Blood Fiend missions, invest your stat points wisely, and focus on increasing your Fear to unlock stronger abilities.
As you move into the late game, farming the Katana, Eternity, and Zombie Raids becomes the fastest way to gain levels, collect valuable drops, and strengthen your build. Combine those raids with powerful Devil Passives and a balanced stat distribution, and you’ll have everything you need to turn your Fiend into one of the strongest characters in the game.
