The Wave Quest is one of the newest quests added during the FishFest 2026 event. While the objectives may seem confusing at first, there is actually a very efficient way to finish almost everything as soon as you unlock the required rods and companions.
This guide covers where to find Wave, what items are required, and the fastest method to complete the quest.
How to Find Wave
Start at the Sunshell Merchant on FishFest Island.
From the merchant:
- Go behind the Sunshell Merchant.
- Jump into the opening behind the building.
- Take the path to the right.
- Continue through the broken tunnel area.
- Follow the path until you reach Wave.
Speak to Wave to receive the quest.
After accepting it, you will see multiple collection objectives appear on the left side of your screen.
Wave Quest Requirements
Each objective is tied to a specific FishFest rod or companion.
The required items are:
- Glasses Mutation – Pool Noodle Rod
- Tiki Mutation – Tiki Rod
- Creamsicle Mutation – Creamsicle Rod
- Floaty Mutation – Floaty Rod
- Beach Ball Mutation – Beach Ball Rod
- Starshell Mutation – Starshell Rod
- Lemon Mutation – Lemonade Serenade Rod
Several additional objectives can be completed using the event companion.
Best Companion for the Quest
Use the Sun Hat Starfish companion.
You receive the Sun Hat Starfish after:
- Completing Captain Conch’s full questline.
- Catching the FishFest boss fish.
- Unrestricting the Starshell Rod.
Many of the remaining Wave Quest objectives can be completed while using this companion, making it one of the most important parts of the grind.
Best Fishing Location
For the fastest progress, fish at:
Sing Chom
Recommended bait:
Garbage Bait
Many players have reported consistently fast progress here because of the high catch rate and ability to quickly trigger rod passives and mutations.
The goal is not necessarily to catch rare fish but to generate as many catches as possible in the shortest amount of time.
Fastest Strategy
Instead of focusing on one objective at a time:
- Equip the required rod.
- Use the Sun Hat Starfish companion.
- Fish at Sing Chom with Garbage Bait.
- Continue fishing until the required mutation or quest progress is completed.
- Switch to the next event rod.
- Repeat until every rod-related objective is finished.
This method allows you to work on companion-related progress while also completing rod mutation requirements.
Important Limitation
The Tiki Rod requirement cannot be completed immediately.
The Tiki Rod is time-gated, meaning players must wait until it becomes available before finishing that portion of the quest.
Because of this, most players can complete nearly the entire Wave Quest right away but may need to return later to finish the final Tiki-related objective.
Recommended Completion Order
- Pool Noodle Rod
- Beach Ball Rod
- Floaty Rod
- Creamsicle Rod
- Starshell Rod
- Lemonade Serenade Rod
- Companion objectives
- Tiki Rod objective (when available)
Following this order lets you finish almost everything in a single fishing session and minimizes unnecessary travel around FishFest Island.
