The new Survivors Update in 100 Days at Sea adds three new survivors to find and rescue, and honestly, the update is pretty fun because each survivor has a different little puzzle attached to them.

There is one thing you should know before you start, though: the three new survivors are randomized between runs. So if you’re looking for one specific survivor and they don’t appear, you haven’t necessarily done anything wrong. You may simply need to start another run.

Here’s everything you need to know to find all three.

100 Days at Sea Survivors Update Guide – How to Find & Rescue All 3 New Survivors

Before doing anything else, make sure you redeem the new code:

Code: survivor

This gives you 20 Pearls, so there’s really no reason to leave it unclaimed.

How the New Survivor System Works

Before the update, there were three survivors in the game.

The update adds three more, bringing the total to six survivors.

The important part is that the new survivors don’t necessarily appear together in every run. Their locations are randomized, so you’ll need to check which ones spawned in your current world.

The easiest way to do that is by building the new Radio.

How to Build the Radio

The Radio is basically your tool for finding the new survivors.

You’ll need to progress a little before you can build it because you’ll need to expand your base and gather the required materials.

First, make sure you’ve unlocked the necessary building level and have the required Bone for Level 2.

You’ll also need a wooden floor/plank to expand your base.

Buy the wooden floor, place it next to your existing base, and use that extra space to place the Radio.

Once the Radio is set up, you’ll be able to use it to locate the survivors that spawned in your current run.

How to Locate the New Survivors

Go over to your Radio and activate it.

You’ll see the survivor images on the board, which is actually pretty useful because you can immediately check which survivors spawned in your current run.

Press the button to locate a survivor and the Radio will point you toward their island.

From there, it’s simply a matter of sailing over and completing their rescue puzzle.

If one of the survivors isn’t shown, don’t waste your entire run searching for them. They may simply not have spawned.

That’s exactly what happened during the gameplay — the final survivor wasn’t available in the first run, so the game had to be restarted.

Survivor #1 – Teacher

The first new survivor is the Teacher.

When you reach her island, you’ll find her behind a small water-and-lava puzzle.

This one might look confusing at first, but it’s actually pretty straightforward once you understand what you’re trying to do.

You’ll see a water tank with several valves.

Your job is to redirect the water toward the lava.

There are three valves that need to be adjusted.

Rotate the first valve so that the water flows toward the next section.

Then adjust the second valve to continue directing the water along the correct path.

Finally, rotate the third valve so that the water reaches the lava.

Once all three are positioned correctly, the water will flow through the system and the lava will disappear.

You’ll then be able to reach the Teacher.

Walk over to her and press E to rescue her.

That’s it — one survivor down.

What to Do After Rescuing the Teacher

Don’t forget to return to your base after rescuing her.

Use the Radio again and check which survivor it points you toward next.

Remember, you don’t necessarily have to follow a fixed order because the survivors are randomized between runs.

Survivor #2 – Scientist

The next survivor is the Scientist, who can be found inside a laboratory.

When you arrive, you’ll notice that the Scientist is trapped inside some sort of green goo.

Luckily, you don’t have to fight anything complicated here.

Instead, look around the outside of the area for several buttons connected to the pressure system.

Your objective is to release the pressure from the pipes.

There are three buttons that need to be activated.

The first two are relatively easy to spot around the main area, while the third one is located slightly higher up.

Take a moment to look around the lab if you can’t immediately see it.

Once you’ve activated all three buttons, the pressure will be released and a short cutscene will play.

The green goo will clear, freeing the Scientist.

Walk over and interact with the survivor to rescue them.

Survivor #3 – Dan

The final new survivor is Dan, and his rescue is probably the most straightforward of the three once you know what you’re looking for.

Dan is trapped inside a mountain.

When you arrive at his location, you’ll find Dynamite nearby.

Pick up the Dynamite and carry it over to the red wall blocking the way.

Place it beside the wall and use it to blow the wall apart.

You’ll need three pieces of Dynamite in total to clear the blockage.

If you only find one immediately, don’t assume you’re missing something. Look around the surrounding area and especially check behind the mountain sections.

There are additional pieces of Dynamite that you can carry back to the red wall.

Keep placing them against the wall until you’ve used all three.

Once the wall has been destroyed, you’ll be able to reach Dan and rescue him.

Why You Might Not Find All Three Survivors

This is probably the most important thing to remember about the update.

You are not guaranteed to get all three new survivors in one run.

The survivors are randomized.

So, for example, you might find the Teacher and Scientist but not Dan.

That’s completely normal.

If the survivor isn’t appearing on your Radio board, there’s no point sailing around the entire map hoping they’ll suddenly appear. Check the Radio first.

If you don’t see the survivor you need, restart and try another run.

Quick Rescue Checklist

If you just want the short version while you’re actually playing, here’s the entire process:

1. Redeem survivor
Get your free 20 Pearls.

2. Expand your base
Purchase and place the required wooden floor.

3. Build the Radio
Gather the required resources and place the Radio on your expanded base.

4. Check the Radio board
See which of the three new survivors spawned.

5. Follow the Radio’s location
Travel to the survivor’s island.

6. Complete their puzzle

  • Teacher: Rotate 3 valves to redirect water into the lava.
  • Scientist: Activate 3 buttons to release pressure and free them from the green goo.
  • Dan: Find and use 3 pieces of Dynamite to destroy the mountain wall.

7. Rescue the survivor
Interact with them once their obstacle has been removed.

8. Repeat
Return to your base, check the Radio again, and go after another survivor.

The Radio is easily the most important addition for this update, so build it as soon as you reasonably can. It saves you from randomly searching the ocean for islands that may not even contain the survivor you’re looking for.

Also, check the survivor portraits on the Radio board. They’re a quick way of confirming who actually spawned in your current run.

And if you’re missing one of the three, don’t panic. You probably just got unlucky with the randomized spawn. Restarting the run can give you a different set of survivors.

Once you know what each puzzle requires, the actual rescues are pretty quick. The Teacher needs the valve puzzle, the Scientist needs the pressure buttons, and Dan needs three Dynamites.

So that’s everything you need to complete the 100 Days at Sea Survivors Update and rescue all three of the new survivors.
