The Brilliance Resurrection (Res) in Type Soul has officially been showcased, and while it’s still new, it already shows promise as a flashy, posture-destroying Res with serious combo potential. This guide covers every move from the partial showcase, along with early impressions of the full Res.
Whether you’re deciding to grind for it or just curious how it works, here’s your complete breakdown.
What Is Brilliance?
Brilliance is one of the more visual-heavy Resurrections in Type Soul. It features:
- Rainbow visual effects after activation
- Moves that chunk posture and sometimes guard break
- Aesthetic slash effects similar to anime-styled swordplay (think Demon Slayer vibes)
- Surprisingly strong synergy with Kendo builds
It’s not the hardest-hitting Res, but the mobility and chain potential make it excellent for mixups.
Partial Form Moveset Breakdown
These are the three base Brilliance Res moves shown before the full transformation.
Z Move – Quick Slash (Posture Breaker)
- Executes a quick frontal slash that takes away around 50% of posture
- Doesn’t immediately guard break, but repeating it twice can almost guarantee a break
- Triggers a rainbow aura/vibrance effect
- No music effect noted, but some sound cue may play
Tip: Great to start or end a combo since it adds constant pressure.
X Move – Rainbow Slashes
- Rapid multi-slash attack that:
- Guard breaks consistently
- Sends out a visual fang effect from the player’s arm
- Can combo into itself if timed well
- Directional input seems to affect aim slightly
“If they’re full speed, they should get guard broken.”
This means the move applies pressure regardless of the enemy’s movement status.
C Move – Diagonal Double Slash
- Delivers two diagonal slashes (downward-right pattern)
- Guard breaks when charged properly
- Leaves a rainbow flicker effect on the enemy’s screen if it lands
You can also trigger an additional flickering final slash at the end of the chain—looks great and confuses your opponent visually.
💡 Combo Potential: Use this after knocking someone into the wall or staggering them with X for a clean confirm.
Visual FX and Passive Effects
- Rainbow aura after some moves (especially C)
- Rainbow flickering on the opponent’s screen upon hit
- Possible screen-based debuffs or sensory disruption for the enemy (not confirmed, but visually implied)
This Res definitely leans into aesthetic domination—use it to mess with your opponent’s perception during PvP.
Early Full Res Observations
The latter half of the video includes a quick peek into the full Res mode (though it’s not fully showcased). Here’s what we do know:
- Final slash visuals look like vertical/horizontal beam cuts
- Still uses the same slash-based pattern, with speed and flashiness amplified
- No confirmation on True Segunda or Singa form yet
- The TNG icon appeared—suggesting the form might evolve later on or has ties to special progression
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
- High posture damage
- Strong visual clarity (helps with zoning opponents)
- Fast, fluid movement animations
- Great with Kendo builds (posture stacking)
- Combo-friendly slashes
Weaknesses
- Slightly lower raw damage than some other Resurrections
- No true mobility tool (yet)
- Most effects require close range for full benefit
- Some bugs during testing (cooldowns not visible, etc.)
Suggested Playstyle
- Pair Brilliance with posture-heavy builds like Kendo
- Engage using Z or C → follow up with X → reposition
- Always try to bait guard into rainbow flicker combos
- Use visuals to create mind games mid-fight
Brilliance Res isn’t your typical brute-force resurrection. Instead, it rewards players who can pressure with posture, use slashes wisely, and capitalize on visual chaos. If you’re someone who enjoys style, setups, and clean combos—this is a sleeper pick with high potential.
It may not be top-tier yet, but its flash and utility make it a solid choice for PvP finesse players.
