Tokyo:RE is not a fast-click simulator. It is a progression game built around survival, long-term growth, and player choice. Every stat point, rank, and quest you complete shapes how strong your character becomes later.

Tokyo RE Beginner Guide – Full Progression Explained

If you understand how the systems work early, you will progress faster and avoid wiping your character by mistake.

Understanding Your HUD

Your green bar is stamina.
Every attack and dodge uses stamina. If this hits zero, you are helpless.

Your red bar is health.

The yellow bar is posture. When posture breaks, you become vulnerable.

The red orb near your bar represents your lives.
You only get three. Each death cracks the orb. When it fully breaks, your character is wiped.

Stats and Passives

Press L to open your stat page.

Strength increases damage.
Durability increases survivability.
Speed improves movement and reactions.
Intellect improves pattern reading and drop rates.

As you unlock passives, hover over them to see exactly what they add. These are permanent upgrades and define your playstyle.

Journal and Quests

Press J to open your journal.

Track a quest and follow the map marker.
Quests are your main source of XP, gear, and progression.

How To Make Money

Money controls your entire growth.

Best ways to earn:

Complete repeatable quests
Pick up trinkets that sparkle on the ground
Sell all trinkets and unused gear to the Old Man at the shop
Break vending machines by punching them for quick cash

The shop is the fastest and most reliable money source early game.

Ranking Up

Ranks go from F- to SSS+.

To rank up you must:

Fill your Rank XP
Spend all stat points
Obtain five Rank Grips

You gain Rank Grips differently based on rank:

F- to D- – Grips from any missions
D to C+ – Grips from PD events and nighttime missions
Above C++ – Only from gripping players during PD events

Every 40 minutes, a Perma Death window opens for 20 minutes. This is where high-rank progression happens.

Stat Points & Training

You gain six stat points per rank.

You can also train at the training area for extra stat points.
Training tools have unlimited uses.

Ghoul Progression

Speak to the main NPC and follow journal quests.

Close your eyes (hold Z), then right-click to activate Kagune.
When you reach 1,000 RC cells, you can choose your Kagune type.

You increase RC by eating corpses.
Higher RC also improves your regeneration.

CCG Progression

Speak to Rishi to access the CCG base.
Apply, sign your application, and become a CCG member.

To become an investigator, earn 15 reputation through CCG quests such as paperwork, sparring, deliveries, and cleaning.

After passing the exam, go to Development to craft your Quinque.

Quinque Crafting & Upgrading

Collect Data Drives from chests for blueprints.
Gather materials from payload truck events and surgical kits.

Quinque damage drops over time.
Use RC Alloy to sharpen and restore damage through questlines.
