Runeslayer’s first major update introduces the Faction System, a new Faction Armory, and changes to PvE and PvP mechanics. This Rune Slayer Update 1 was intended to create more faction-based competition, but it comes with a mix of improvements and controversial mechanics.
Faction System & Armory
How Factions Work
- Players can join one of two factions:
- Holy Knights
- Demon Sect
- Killing members of the opposing faction grants Reputation Points.
- Reputation is converted into Ranking Points weekly, determining Faction Rank.
- Higher ranks unlock access to exclusive faction weapons and armor.
Faction Armory
- Players need to complete a faction quest before they can use the armory.
- Demon Sect currently has gear available, while Holy Knights do not (this will likely be fixed in a future patch).
- Weapons and armor from the armory are unique to each faction.
PvP & Loot Bags: A Double-Edged Sword
One of the biggest changes is the addition of loot bags on player death.
How It Works:
- Players now drop loot bags upon dying in PvP combat.
- This encourages random player killing (ganking).
- Currently, the combat system lacks polish, making PvP feel unbalanced.
Community Feedback:
- Many players feel this system hurts casual players who focus on PvE.
- High-level players (especially testers) can farm lower-level players for loot.
- The game’s lag and imbalanced combat make PvP frustrating.
PvE Changes
- Increased posture scaling on mobs → Makes PvE harder and more tedious.
- Warlock class remains strong, while other classes received minor changes.
- Berserker buffed, Warlock received only small nerfs.
