The Samurai class has officially arrived in Rune Slayer, and it’s turning heads with its quick draw combat style, guard breaks, and high mobility potential. Whether you’re looking to solo bosses, farm mobs, or just want a stylish blade-user with great PvE uptime, Samurai might be the class for you.

This Rune Slayer Samurai Guide breaks down everything from the starting stats, abilities, and weapon upgrades to playstyle tips—all based on hands-on gameplay.

Rune Slayer Samurai Class Guide – (Abilities, Builds, Farming)

Starting the Samurai Class

To access the Samurai class:

  • You’ll need to wipe your previous slot (in this case, the creator wiped a Seraphim).
  • Choose Samurai at character creation.
  • It starts with:
    • 2 Strength
    • 2 Agility
    • Training in Medium Armor
    • Weapon: Copper Katana of Dumerson

Samurai is designed for melee dueling with a strong focus on mobility, timing, and burst damage.

Basic M1 and Crit Animation

  • M1s feel like standard sword swings—nothing too fancy.
  • Crit animations are clean and fast but not overwhelming.
  • Samurai shines less in posture breaks and more in raw DPS and cooldown manipulation.

Samurai Skills & Abilities Breakdown

Level 1 — Unchath

  • Effect: A basic sword strike dealing 10 damage.
  • Cooldown: Short.
  • It’s simple, but it’s your starter bread-and-butter ability.

Level 7 — Lightning Strikes Twice

  • Description: “Draw your blade fiercely, flailing your opponent.”
  • Effect: A multi-hit slash that dishes out decent damage over a flurry of strikes.
  • Great for:
    • Clearing mobs
    • Interrupting weak enemies
    • Keeping enemies staggered

Level 10 — Choice: Quick Draw or Drawing Blade

You must pick one of these two:

1. Quick Draw (Chosen in the video)

  • Type: Barrage-style burst attack.
  • Strengths:
    • Massive damage in a short window.
    • Melts bosses and mobs if used correctly.
    • Ideal for burst farming.
  • Downside: Long cooldown if misused.

2. Drawing Blade (Not showcased fully)

  • Not chosen in the video.
  • Likely a focused slash with different synergy.
  • Functions similarly to Quick Draw with identical passive mechanics (see below).

Level 12 Passive — Sheath Counter

  • Effect (when using Quick Draw or Drawing Blade):
    • Gain 20% damage reduction while your weapon is sheathed and the attack is about to be released.
    • If your ability gets interrupted, it reduces cooldown by 40%.
  • This makes Samurai much tankier during offensive windows, rewarding risk-taking aggression.

Level 15 — Serpent Stance

  • Description: “Cut your enemies slithering through their block.”
  • Effect: Guard break move.
  • Finally gives Samurai a block-piercing ability.
  • Unlocks right after you equip the Simple Katana at level 15.

Weapon Progression

Level 1: Copper Katana of Dumerson

  • Default weapon.
  • Basic stats, no special scaling.

Level 15: Simple Katana

  • Stats:
    • 7 base damage
    • Level 8 requirement
  • A direct upgrade—faster and stronger.

💡 Pro Tip: As soon as you hit level 15, switch to this blade and pair it with Serpent Stance for a smoother PvE experience.

Playstyle & Tips

Strengths

  • Insane burst damage with Quick Draw.
  • High mobility when spacing abilities correctly.
  • Strong damage mitigation with Sheath passive.
  • Effective PvE farmer (mobs and bosses alike).

Weaknesses

  • Long cooldowns on core skills if interrupted or mistimed.
  • Posture breaking is weak compared to other classes.
  • Relies heavily on quick ability rotations.

Samurai vs Bosses & Mobs

  • Bears and wolves? No problem—Quick Draw one-shots if you time it right.
  • Boss fights (like the Tundra boss):
    • You’ll need to dodge key moves (e.g., belly flops), then punish with Quick Draw.
    • Can solo bosses without a pet if your cooldown management is on point.

Keep in mind: Samurai becomes truly dangerous when you build around your abilities, not raw stat stacking.

The Samurai class in Rune Slayer is fast, stylish, and rewarding if played well. It may not dominate in every stat, but it has a high skill ceiling and phenomenal PvE potential, especially when combined with burst abilities and cooldown manipulation.
