The Mesa biome is finally here in PEAK, and it’s as unforgiving as it is beautiful. Scorching heat, dangerous wildlife, and a handful of brand-new achievements make this update a real test for any climber.
In this guide, we’ll trek through the new area together, picking up every achievement along the way. Whether you’re chasing 100% completion or just want bragging rights, here’s how to claim them all.
Staring Down the Sun – Astronomy Badge
Some people say you should never look at the sun. PEAK says otherwise.
When you reach Mesa, pull out your binoculars and aim straight at that blinding star — but only when the heat effect is active. That’s the only time the badge will pop.
Face the Antlion – Megaentomology Badge
There’s a massive sand predator waiting for you in the desert: the Antlion.
The process is simple but dangerous — step into its pit, let it land a hit, then fight or climb your way out alive. Surviving the encounter is all that matters.
Canyon Leap – Daredevil Badge
At Mesa’s entrance, you’ll spot a Scout Cannon pointed across a wide canyon. Climb in, fire yourself to the other side, and then walk into the canyon on foot to seal the deal.
The Kiln’s Offering – 24 Karat Badge (Bugged)
This one’s currently impossible due to a blocked entrance, but here’s the intended method:
Find the Bing Bong Idol in the desert, haul it into the volcano in the Kiln, and toss it into the lava. When fixed, the idol’s heat-shield ability will make the journey much safer.
Taking to the Skies – Aeronautics Badge
For this, you’ll need six balloons. They can spawn in suitcases anywhere in the game, so keep collecting until you’ve got the full set. Use them all at once to float — single balloons deflate too quickly.
Prickly Situation – Needlepoint Badge
Mesa’s ground is littered with small round cacti. Step on or climb over them to get them stuck on you. Five or more at once will unlock the badge, but find a safe spot to do it so you don’t roast under the sun while covered in spikes.
Keeping Cool – Cool Cucumber Badge
Crossing Mesa without letting your heat level pass 10% is a tall order.
The easiest trick? Wait until nightfall, or better yet, grab the Bing Bong Idol for total heat immunity. With that, the desert’s temperature becomes irrelevant — just keep moving to the next campfire.
The 100m Catch – Ultimate Badge
Grab the frisbee from the plane wreckage and have a friend throw it to you from a huge distance — roughly 100 meters. Catch it in the air and you’re done.
One warning: the host can’t earn this one right now due to a bug, so do it in someone else’s game if you’re hosting.
Through the Desert – Nomad Badge
There’s no trick here — just survive Mesa. Make it past the heat, tornadoes, spikes, and the Antlion until you reach the campfire at the top.
Hunger Wins – Resourcefulness Badge
This is one of the darker ones. Let your hunger climb to at least 75% without eating anything. Then… eat another player. Cannibalism must be enabled in settings, and it only works in multiplayer.
Final Thoughts
The Mesa update makes PEAK more dangerous, but also more rewarding. These achievements range from quick gimmicks to serious endurance tests, so mix patience with preparation.
If you’ve mastered this biome, you’re well on your way to becoming one of the island’s toughest survivors.
