The skill tree system just got a complete rework—and understanding which path to choose can drastically affect your performance. In this guide, we’ll break down which skill tree to use for DPS and support, and what to absolutely avoid post-update.
New Skill Tree Rework – What Changed?
The update introduced four new skill tree paths:
- Damage
- Crit
- Elemental
- Support
Unlike the old version, you now can only choose one path per unit, making your decision far more impactful. Let’s explore each path based on real in-game testing.
Which Skill Tree is Best for Damage?
Crit Skill Tree – The New Meta
After extensive testing, the Crit tree came out on top for pure damage output. Why?
- +200% Crit Damage
- High Crit Chance
- Improved Range for Units like Gojo
Even though the SPA (Seconds per Attack) is slightly worse than the Damage tree, the consistent high burst potential from crits more than makes up for it.
Example: Shinra (DPS Unit)
- With Crit Tree: Dealt significantly more damage—even had a shot at killing early waves solo.
- With Damage Tree: Slightly lower SPA but couldn’t match crit’s damage spikes.
- With Elemental Tree: Performed much worse. Lower crit chance, significantly less damage overall.
Verdict: If you’re building any DPS unit, go Crit. It outperforms the others—even on high-damage characters like Gojo and Shinra.
What About the Damage Skill Tree?
Damage Tree – Slightly Inferior
It’s not bad, but it’s just outclassed:
- Lower crit chance than Crit Tree
- Better SPA than Crit, but damage over time still falls behind
You might consider this for specific bossing scenarios or characters with unreliable crit mechanics, but it’s generally not worth it over Crit.
Elemental Skill Tree – Skip It
Underwhelming and Situational
- Lowest damage output among all trees
- Weak crit chance
- Poor performance even in elemental-heavy maps
Unless you’re running Elemental Caverns, and even then it’s questionable, do not use this tree.
Best Skill Tree for Support Units
Support Tree – Ideal for Money & Buff Units
If your unit isn’t meant to deal damage but plays a support role (e.g., Idol Robin, Subaru, Wang Lang), this tree shines.
Key Benefits:
- +6–7% Money Boost
- +25% Range
- -5% Ability Cooldown
- +10% Time Stop Duration
Perfect for:
- Farming units (money boost is huge)
- Units with powerful cooldown-based skills
- Buffers who rely on range (like Idol Robin)
Important: Idol Robin’s range is lower than before even with this tree, but the money gain compensates for it.
