Santa’s Letter is easily one of the most exciting and dangerous features in the entire Fischmas update. It gives you the chance to receive any obtainable fishing rod in the game for free, but there’s a catch — you only get one single attempt. No retries, no corrections, no second chances. This guide explains exactly how it works and how to avoid making a painful mistake.
What Is Santa’s Letter?
Santa’s Letter is a special Fischmas feature that allows you to wish for one fishing rod of your choice. If done correctly, Santa will deliver that rod directly to you after a short wait.
This is not a gamble or RNG system. You directly choose the rod — but only if you do everything right.
When Can You Send Santa’s Letter?
This part is extremely important.
You can only send Santa’s Letter between December 24th and December 26th.
- Before December 24th: You can open the letter, but you cannot send it
- After December 26th: The feature is locked
- Outside this window: You lose your chance completely
If you miss these dates, you miss the reward. No exceptions.
How to Use Santa’s Letter (Step by Step)
- Open Santa’s Letter from your inventory or event menu
- You’ll see a message that starts with:
“Dear Santa, for Fisch, I want…” - In the text box, type the exact name of the fishing rod you want
- Double-check the spelling
- Sign and send the letter (only available Dec 24–26)
Once sent, the letter cannot be edited or cancelled.
Spelling Matters More Than You Think
Santa does not guess what you meant.
If you:
- Misspell the rod name
- Type an invalid rod
- Forget part of the name
You will not receive anything.
This is why it’s strongly recommended to:
- Visit the Fisch wiki
- Copy the rod’s exact name
- Paste it directly into Santa’s Letter
Do not rely on memory. One typo can ruin the entire reward.
What Rods Should You Ask For?
Santa’s Letter is best used on high-stage rods that normally require a massive grind.
Recommended choices:
- Stage 10 rods
- Stage 11 rods
- Stage 12 rods
These rods usually take a long time to unlock, so using Santa’s Letter on a low-stage or easily obtainable rod is a huge waste.
Many players aim for rods like:
- Fabulous Rod
- Other late-game progression rods
Choose based on your long-term playstyle, not what looks cool right now.
When Do You Receive the Rod?
After sending the letter:
- You will not receive the rod instantly
- The rod usually arrives within about 24 hours
- Most players receive it on Christmas Day
Be patient. If you spelled everything correctly and sent it during the allowed dates, the rod will arrive.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Sending the letter before December 24th
Missing the December 26th deadline
Misspelling the rod name
Choosing a low-value rod
Rushing the decision without planning
Santa is generous, but he is not forgiving.
Santa’s Letter is one of the most powerful rewards Fisch has ever given players. It can skip weeks or even months of progression — but only if you use it wisely.
Take your time.
Research your rod.
Copy the name exactly.
Send it on the correct dates.
Do that, and Fischmas 2025 will give you one of the biggest progression boosts possible.
