This guide walks you through every step in a clean, straightforward way so you can unlock Kaneki without getting stuck.
Step 1 – Begin the Questline
Start near the waterfall area of the map.
NPC: Your Best Friend
Interact with him to start the Kaneki quest. Your first task begins immediately.
Step 2 – Collect 20 Boxes
You’re asked to find 20 boxes, scattered across the map.
Tips
- They can spawn in many open areas, rooftops, and corners.
- Take your time to cover each zone thoroughly.
- Boxes respawn, so don’t panic if a few seem missing.
After collecting all 20, return to Your Best Friend.
Step 3 – Defeat 15 Bandits
Your next objective is simple combat:
- Locate 15 bandits around the city
- Eliminate all of them
- Return to Your Best Friend once finished
After reporting back, he directs you to the next NPC.
Step 4 – Talk to Rize
Head over to Rize, who begins the item-collection phase of the quest.

- Take 2,000 damage while using Vampirism
- Die 7 times to a player using the V-spec Y move
