If you’ve been playing Grow a Garden for a while, you’ll know that the game usually takes its seasonal events pretty seriously — but this year’s Ghoul Garden Halloween Update hits differently. The atmosphere, the new mechanics, and the pure amount of content packed into it make it feel like a full expansion rather than a simple holiday event.
After spending hours digging through everything this update offers, here’s my full breakdown — from unlocking pets to growing the rarest seeds and surviving the spooky night cycle.
Grow a Garden Ghoul Garden Update – Halloween Event, Codes
The moment you load into the game after the update, you’ll notice that everything feels eerily different. The music is darker, fog rolls over the map, and strange NPCs appear around new shops. The Halloween theme isn’t just visual — it’s built into the gameplay.
At the center of it all is the Witch NPC, who runs the new community-based Cauldron Event. She’s basically the one who starts your Halloween progress. You’ll need to offer her plants from your garden — the better the plants, the better your rewards. Each successful submission gives you Candy Corn, the event’s new currency, along with Spooky Eggs that can hatch into exclusive Halloween pets.
You can only submit every two minutes, so efficiency matters. What makes it fun is that the event is shared across the server — meaning everyone contributes to filling the Witch’s cauldron together. If you’re on an inactive server, hopping into a more active one or bringing a few friends makes the grind a lot smoother.
Candy Corn: The Currency of the Season
Candy Corn is your ticket to almost everything in this update. It’s used to buy Halloween cosmetics, event pets, and other special items from the Halloween Market, which only appears once every in-game hour during the Halloween Night event.
This market phase completely changes the vibe of the game. The sky darkens, ghosts wander the garden, and limited-time NPCs appear offering unique items. You’ll also notice a ghostly visitor that drops cryptic lines about “the Heart Seed,” hinting at something deeper going on in Grow a Garden’s world. Whether that’s setup for future lore or just Halloween flavor remains to be seen — but it adds an unexpected mystery to the event.
Jack-o’-Lantern Event
Every hour and a half, the Jack-o’-Lantern NPC emerges from underground for five minutes. This mini-event feels like a flash challenge — you’ll need to quickly deliver Halloween-themed plants to him before he vanishes.
He only accepts plants from the new Halloween seed lineup, so don’t waste time trying to hand him regular fruits. If he doesn’t like your offering, you’ll get hit with a short “spooky scare” animation (or at least, that’s what’s supposed to happen — it’s still being refined). In exchange for good plants, you’ll earn more Candy Corn, which is essential for unlocking the higher-end event pets.
The Halloween Pets — Which Ones Are Worth Your Time
After grinding out Candy Corn and opening a few Spooky Eggs, I got a chance to test most of the new Halloween pets. Here’s how each one works and which ones are actually worth keeping around.
Bat – Boosts variant chances for spooky crops, but not by much. More of a collector’s pet than a functional one.
Bone Dog – Randomly digs up seeds every 80 seconds. The potential is great if it includes event seeds, but I haven’t seen proof yet.
Spider – Spins a web every few minutes that speeds up plant growth and pet cooldowns inside it. Surprisingly effective for mass farming setups.
Black Cat – A perfect Halloween alternative to the Moon Cat. It naps by the cauldron, slightly boosting nearby fruit size. Cute and practical.
Pumpkin Rat – Converts pumpkins into Jack-o’-Lantern cosmetics every few minutes. It’s not about profit — it’s about collecting all five facial variants.
Ghost Bear – Every 18 minutes, it scares a nearby fruit and gives it the Spooky Mutation. Visually awesome and one of the more thematic pets this season.
Wolf – Easily my favorite. Every few minutes, it triggers the Moonlet mutation, briefly turning your character into a werewolf. Your speed and jump height skyrocket during this phase — it’s pure chaos and completely worth it.
Reaper – Consumes four fruits every 22 minutes to give a random pet a passive XP boost. Useful if you have lots of pets to level but not essential.
Headless Horseman (Mythic) – The ultra-rare chase pet this event. It “haunts” another pet, resetting its level and granting one of several Chaotic Mutations that nobody fully understands yet. It’s still being tested, but it’s by far the rarest drop.
If you’re prioritizing which pets to grind for, Wolf and Spider offer the best functional benefits, while Ghost Bear and Black Cat are the strongest in terms of flavor and synergy.
The New Halloween Seeds
The Ghoul Garden update didn’t just bring pets — it added some of the best seasonal plants the game has ever had. Here’s what you can grow:
Blood Red Mushroom – Easy to get, regenerates after harvest, and sells for about 22,000 shekels.
Jack-o’-Lantern – Halloween’s signature crop. Re-grows after harvesting and sells for around 30,000. Great for casual farming.
Gold Root – A glowing root-like plant worth roughly 50,000 shekels.
Chicken Feet – A strange-looking plant that sells for a shocking 123,000 shekels.
Sear Vine – One of the best earners this update. Has eye-like growths and sells between 80,000 and 140,000 depending on size.
Poison Apple – A prismatic-tier crop that sells anywhere from 100,000 to 190,000 shekels. Looks simple but feels like an event classic.
Great Pumpkin (Transcendent) – The crown jewel of the Halloween update. It takes over an hour to grow but can generate Ghostly Mutations that make nearby plants partially transparent and massively more valuable. I sold one ghostly-affected plant for over two million shekels — easily the best yield I’ve ever seen in this game.
The Great Pumpkin isn’t just a crop; it’s a passive booster that can turn your entire garden into a glowing field of translucent, high-value plants. If you only go for one thing this Halloween, make it this.
World Events and Mutations
The world itself reacts to Halloween now, with new events that affect your crops and gameplay:
Full Moon – Temporarily increases the odds of getting the Bloodlet mutation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t affect the Wolf pet (which would’ve been perfect).
Bat Attack – Fills the skies with bats and gives a chance for the Vamp mutation to appear on your plants.
Ghostly Mutation – Tied to the Great Pumpkin’s ability, it makes plants transparent and can multiply their value dozens of times over.
Fixes
Tier 2 Seeds Are Gone – They’ve been replaced with a Daily Deal system, where you can grab random seeds every 24 hours.
Broccoli and other legacy seeds are still obtainable through these daily deals, keeping older content relevant.
After spending hours with this update, it’s clear that Grow a Garden’s Ghoul Garden Halloween Update isn’t just a quick event — it’s a full seasonal overhaul. The new seeds are fun to experiment with, the pets have creative abilities, and the constant rotation of mini-events keeps the grind from feeling repetitive.
If you enjoy progression and discovery, this is the best time to play. Just remember that everything here — from the Great Pumpkin to the Reaper pet — disappears once the Halloween season ends. So if you plan to unlock everything, start now.
The Ghoul Garden update nails what a good Roblox seasonal event should be: rewarding, mysterious, and just a little bit spooky.
