The Venom Maw is one of the important hunt fish introduced in the newer Fisch update. Catching it is not just about filling a Bestiary entry. It is actually required if you want to unlock the new raft that lets you travel to the second area of the update.
Because the spawn system is a little confusing, many players miss it even when it appears. This guide explains exactly where to look and how to catch it quickly.
Fisch Venom Maw Guide – How to Catch It & Unlock
Most hunt fish in Fisch announce themselves with a large event notification or visible activity on the water.
Venom Maw works differently.
There is no major pop-up event message. The game does not clearly alert players that it has spawned. Instead, you need to watch the water carefully and recognize the visual indicator.
The spawn is subtle, which is why many players walk right past it without realizing.
The Spawn Indicator – Purple Toxic Boil
When Venom Maw appears, the water will show purple bubbles rising from the surface.
This is called a Toxic Boil.
If you have your Fish Radar enabled, the area will also be labeled as:
Toxic Boil
Once you see this, you know the hunt fish is active in that spot.
Known Venom Maw Spawn Locations
The Venom Maw spawns inside the toxic cave area. The cave itself is fairly small, which helps narrow down the search.
Known spawn points include several areas across the cave water.
Possible locations include:
- Near the entrance section of the cave water.
- Along the middle path of the cave.
- Around the deeper central area.
- Near the back section of the cave.
These are the most commonly reported spots, but technically the fish can spawn almost anywhere inside the cave water, so always watch the surface for the purple bubbles.
Sundials
Since Venom Maw is a hunt fish, spawn timing matters.
Using Sundials helps speed up the process because they quickly advance the in-game time. That increases your chances of triggering the hunt event without waiting too long.
Many players use this strategy:
- Check the cave for Toxic Boil bubbles.
- If nothing appears, use a Sundial.
- Look again around the cave water.
Repeating this cycle dramatically reduces waiting time.
Catching the Venom Maw
Once you locate the Toxic Boil area, simply cast your line there.
Because this is a hunt fish, it will be one of the catches that appear from that boiling spot.
Using rods with good luck and control stats helps make the process smoother, but the most important part is simply finding the spawn.
Once caught, the Venom Maw will register in your inventory.
Unlocking the New Raft
After catching the Venom Maw, the next step is simple.
Take the fish to the NPC located near the cave area. Interact with the NPC and turn in the catch.
In return, the NPC rewards you with a new raft.
This raft allows players to travel to the next region of the update, unlocking access to additional fishing areas and new content.
Without completing this step, progression into the next zone is blocked.
Quick Strategy for Farming Venom Maw
If your goal is to catch it as fast as possible, follow this simple routine.
First, bring several Sundials so you can advance time quickly.
Second, keep your Fish Radar active so Toxic Boil zones are easier to identify.
Third, continuously patrol the cave water while watching for purple bubbling spots.
Once the bubbles appear, cast immediately and keep fishing in that exact location until you get the Venom Maw.
Because the cave is small, scanning the entire area only takes a few seconds.
The Venom Maw is not mechanically difficult to catch, but its spawn method makes it easy to overlook. Players who do not know about the purple Toxic Boil bubbles often spend a long time searching for it.
Once you know what to look for, however, the process becomes much faster. Catch the fish, return it to the NPC, and you will unlock the raft that leads to the next part of the update.
