The Brine Storm Update in Fisch adds a brand-new weather-based fishing mechanic along with several quality-of-life improvements that make progression and collection tracking much smoother. While the update looks simple on the surface, Brine Storms are tied to specific conditions, and many players struggle to trigger them properly.
This guide explains everything added in the Brine Storm update, how to start a Brine Storm, and how to complete the update content efficiently.
What Is a Brine Storm?
Brine Storms are a new special event that occurs inside the Brine Pool.
When a Brine Storm is active:
- You can fish new, exclusive fish
- The Brine Pool becomes the main focus area
- Storm conditions directly affect fishing outcomes
You cannot access Brine Storm fish outside of these storms, which makes triggering them essential.
Where Brine Storms Happen (Brine Pool Location)
Brine Storms only occur in one place.
To reach the Brine Pool:
- Travel toward the Brine Pool area
- Move forward through the cave-like path
- Follow the route upward until you reach the pool itself
If you are not inside the Brine Pool, a Brine Storm will never trigger.
How to Start a Brine Storm (Most Important Part)
Brine Storms are tied to rainfall.
They do not happen randomly at all times.
Core Requirement
- It must be raining
Once it’s raining, a Brine Storm can spawn, but it is not guaranteed.
Using Totems to Trigger a Brine Storm
To increase your chances, you’ll need specific totems.
Tempest Totem
- Forces rain
- Gives a high chance to trigger a Brine Storm
- Not guaranteed, but very reliable
Sundial Totem
- Changes the time of day
- Used to cycle day and night faster
Best Method (Most Reliable)
- Use a Tempest Totem to make it rain
- If no Brine Storm appears:
- Use a Sundial Totem
- Change the time of day
- Repeat the process:
- Tempest Totem → Sundial Totem → Repeat
By rotating between rain and time changes, you greatly increase the odds of spawning a Brine Storm.
This method works even if storms don’t appear immediately.
Fishing During a Brine Storm
Once the Brine Storm is active:
- Start fishing inside the Brine Pool
- You can catch new Beastiary fish
- These fish are exclusive to Brine Storm conditions
If you’re trying to complete collections or the Beastiary, Brine Storms are now mandatory content.
New Rod Journal (Huge Quality-of-Life Feature)
A brand-new Rod Journal has been added.
What It Does
- Shows all rods by location
- Displays missing rods
- Helps track collection progress
You can access this via a new section in the Beastiary tree, making it much easier to know exactly what you still need.
New Settings Menu Overhaul
The settings menu has been completely redesigned.
Improvements Include
- Easier audio configuration
- Cleaner UI
- More control over game experience
This doesn’t affect gameplay directly, but it makes long fishing sessions much more comfortable.
New Code (Free Rewards)
A new code was added with this update:
Brinestorm
Redeem it in the codes menu for free rewards related to the update.
Always redeem update codes early, as they may expire.
Limited Skin Crate & Halo Support
Additional cosmetic updates include:
- A new limited skin crate
- Custom Halo support
These don’t affect progression but are nice bonuses for collectors and customization-focused players.
Bug Fixes & General Improvements
The update also includes:
- Multiple bug fixes
- Performance improvements
- Minor quality-of-life tweaks across the game
Nothing you need to manually activate, but gameplay should feel smoother overall.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Waiting for Brine Storms outside the Brine Pool
- Using only one Tempest Totem and giving up
- Forgetting to change time with Sundial Totems
- Fishing before the storm actually starts
Persistence is key. Brine Storms are chance-based, not instant.
