This tier list ranks the full Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra launch roster based on character design, playstyle excitement, and how enjoyable each character feels to play. It’s not a power-ranking based on stats or win rates, but a reflection of how unique and satisfying each unit is, especially from the perspective of someone who tested the game extensively during both betas.
Each character is placed into one of six tiers: HIM, Goat, Hyped, A+, Eh, and Not Hyped / Bum. The focus is on overall design, gameplay flow, skill satisfaction, and replayability.
Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra Character Tier List (September 2025)
Tier: HIM
Zamasu
Zamasu stands out as the most exciting and well-rounded character in the game. He has strong lane presence, great recovery and durability, and a clear playstyle that encourages early aggression and meter control. His ultimate adds pressure, and his kit allows solo carry potential without being overwhelming to use. He is effective, stylish, and impactful in nearly every match.
Tier: Goat
Android 17
A rare example of a support character that is both useful and satisfying to play. His double barrier skills offer real protection for allies, and his ability block mechanics bring utility in high-pressure situations. He’s easy to pair with nearly every character and finally gives Tech players a reason to enjoy the role.
Daima Goku (Kid Goku)
One of the most creative designs in the game. His skills work together fluidly, allowing for clever bomb and pole interactions, strong zoning, and even damage immunity moments. Daima Goku has strong synergy with tanks and supports like Krillin or 17 and feels highly rewarding to master.
Tier: Hyped
Android 18
She plays exactly like a fast-paced assassin should. You dash in, eliminate your target, and reset out. She’s glass cannon by nature, but her playstyle is straightforward, snappy, and fun.
Gamma 1 & Gamma 2
The tag team format makes them an interesting pick. Their strength depends on how well players can manage their health and cooldowns, but the overall design of swapping between them and reviving each other creates a unique identity in the roster.
Perfect Cell
Cell brings a classic transformation mechanic into the game and does it well. Once transformed, he can isolate targets in a 1v1 scenario using his ultimate. This is especially powerful during late-game teamfights or Dragon Orb objectives, and it adds real tactical value.
Frieza
Often underestimated, Frieza plays the role of a turret character with map-wide presence thanks to Zarbon and Dodoria. While not flashy, his ability to lock down areas and assist team rotations gives him strategic relevance.
Tier: A+
Caulifla
Built entirely around being a raid boss-style tank. She reduces incoming damage from enemies she hits, lacks peel or support tools, but becomes extremely durable after transforming. Her simplicity works in her favor.
Vegeta
Vegeta is highly stable and works well with nearly anyone. He isn’t particularly exciting, but his durability, healing, and cooldown efficiency make him a solid pick for teams that need a reliable tank.
Super Uub
Uub has a unique rush-based DPS kit that shines in skilled hands. Watching high-level players use him is impressive, though he can feel underwhelming for newer players. He has potential for strong follow-up damage and mobility.
Trunks
Another assassin, Trunks has kill-based cooldown resets that can snowball in longer fights. However, his kit feels a bit dry compared to others, and he tends to be less interesting to play over time.
Baby
Very powerful in coordinated teams, Baby allows you to possess allies and give them lifesteal or buffs. However, his kit isn’t appealing for everyone, and some players dislike the idea of leaving their tank body to support from inside a teammate.
Tier: Eh
Goku (Super Saiyan)
A fun pick that unfortunately suffers from conflicting mechanics. His passive wants you to lose allies, while his ultimate benefits from them being alive. He’s fast, aggressive, and fun to play, but awkward in actual matches.
Krillin
Strong utility pick with no bad lane partners. Solar Flare and mine placements make him disruptive, but he doesn’t offer the same “fun factor” as other Tech characters unless you enjoy map control play.
Buu
True support character with plenty of crowd control and healing. Works best in party settings. Lacks personal damage and doesn’t suit solo play.
Dabura
A debuff-heavy character with decent crowd control, particularly through petrification. Was overtuned in beta but could become a strong pick if balanced properly.
Tier: Not Hyped
Piccolo
Strong ranged damage with some cooldown utility, but overall feels slow and position-dependent. Not rewarding unless fully mastered. Special Beam Cannon is the only standout moment in his kit.
Bojack
Plays like a mage-style damage dealer with large hitboxes and decent setup tools. Ultimately, he feels stiff and not very engaging to play. His design doesn’t leave a strong impression compared to the rest of the cast.
Tier: Bum
Hit
A controversial pick. Designed as a stealth-based Tech character, Hit spends much of the game hiding in bushes or waiting to ambush. This causes major synergy issues, especially since picking Hit means giving up more reliable Tech options like Krillin or 17. While his theme fits, his role does not, and many players will find his playstyle frustrating or ineffective in real matches.
This tier list isn’t about power—it’s about presence. Some characters just feel good to use. Others are technically strong but don’t leave much of an impact. Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra has a diverse and creative roster, and even the “lower” tier characters have their place if they suit your style.
