Cursed Arena has officially made a comeback with a fresh content drop. While the full game rework is still in development, this update brings big changes to two fan-favorite characters: Gojo and Sukuna. Along with their reworks, there’s also a new move for Kusakabe, a new awakening ability called Furnace, a bounty system, and some balance adjustments across the board.

Let’s break down everything added or changed in this update, with detailed explanations of what each change means in actual gameplay.

Cursed Arena Gojo & Sukuna Rework Update – New Moves, and More

Kusakabe – New Move: Celestial Fisher

Kusakabe finally gets some love with a new sword move added to his kit. The move is called Celestial Fisher, and it packs a serious punch.

When activated, Kusakabe performs a fast barrage of sword slashes, followed by a screen-shaking finisher that sends enemies flying.

The move has great impact both visually and mechanically. It’s not just a filler addition—it gives Kusakabe more presence in fights.

While he’s still a secondary pick compared to Gojo or Sukuna, this one move makes him feel more relevant.

Gojo Rework

Gojo received a complete overhaul in both base form and awakening. Some moves were reworked, while others received hold variants that change their behavior mid-combat.

Base Kit Breakdown

Strength Settle

  • A fast teleporting punch.
  • Hold Variant: Goes through block and teleports to the opponent. Great for catching defensive players.

Cursed Impact

  • Standard punch attack.
  • Hold Variant: Delivers a stronger slam. Visually distinct and hits harder.

Lapse Blue

  • Pulls enemies in before delivering a new Black Flash finisher.
  • This change gives the move more style without changing its core utility.

Reversal Red

  • Seems mostly unchanged. No major differences from its previous version.

Awakening Changes

Startup Animation

  • Gojo’s awakening has a slightly updated animation, making it feel more cinematic.

Max Red / Max Blue

  • Holding the ability now determines whether Gojo casts Max Red or Max Blue.
  • Max Red is a damaging explosion, while Max Blue pulls enemies in. Adds variety to his combo potential.

Black Flash (Hold Variant)

  • Now includes a timing mechanic. If you press at the right moment, the ability lands a proper Black Flash with increased damage.
  • Adds a layer of skill and rewards good timing.

Hollow Purple

  • No significant changes observed. Functions the same as before.

Domain Expansion (Hold Variant)

  • This is one of the most exciting changes in the update.
  • Holding the Domain Expansion triggers a dramatic, cinematic version of Gojo’s iconic technique.
  • After a short delay, a massive area-of-effect attack lands, making it feel like a true finisher.

Sukuna Rework – New Variants, M1s, and Awakening Updates

Sukuna’s kit was already flashy, but now it’s even more refined. This update gave him changes to his Black Flash, Cleave, and awakening animations.

Base Kit Changes

Black Flash

  • Now has multiple variants including punch and kick animations.
  • Each click changes the output slightly, ending with a big final strike.
  • Makes the move feel less repetitive and more reactive.

Fairy Kicks

  • No longer combo-extends.
  • This change was likely made for balance purposes, reducing potential infinite chains.

Awakening Changes

New M1 Animations

  • Basic attacks during awakening have been updated with flashier and smoother animations.
  • The change isn’t just visual—it makes combos feel more responsive.

Cleave (Hold Variant)

  • Holding the Cleave move now triggers multiple slashes, ending with a Black Flash.
  • The regular version still exists for quick use, but the variant is clearly made for big damage plays.

Dismantle Damage Adjustment

  • Both regular and hold variants now deal a flat 20 damage.
  • Simplifies damage scaling and keeps the move balanced.

Furnace – New Awakening-Only Move

One of the biggest surprises of the update is the addition of Furnace, a powerful move exclusive to awakening.

  • Costs 125 tokens to unlock.
  • Once you’re in awakening mode, press G to activate it.
  • The screen changes color, and a short cinematic sequence begins.
  • After a brief delay, Furnace delivers a massive, highly stylized attack with a 180-second cooldown.
  • The animation is completely new and looks far more refined than the previous version.

It’s a great finisher move and gives players something satisfying to build toward in a match.

Bounty System Added

The game now includes a bounty system, allowing players to rack up notoriety and rewards over time. It adds a layer of progression and tracking outside of simple wins and losses.

While the video didn’t go into detail, you can find more info by pausing in-game and reading the bounty system board. It appears to function like a kill streak or leaderboard system.

This update doesn’t just bring characters back—it elevates them. Gojo and Sukuna feel smoother, stronger, and more accurate to their anime counterparts. Kusakabe’s new move gives him some much-needed presence. Furnace adds depth to awakening builds, and the bounty system adds something for competitive players to grind for.

While the full game rework is still pending, this patch is a great sign of things to come. If the developers keep this momentum, Cursed Arena could climb back into the spotlight in a big way.
