Rerolling is one of the first big decisions you’ll make when starting Chaos Zero: Nightmare (CZN). It determines which 5-star combatants you begin with and can save you hours of grinding later. This guide explains how the reroll system works, the most efficient way to reset your data, what banners to pull on, and which early characters are worth chasing.
Before You Start – About CBT Differences
This guide is based on information from the Closed Beta Test (CBT) and early-release versions of the game. Some systems may change slightly in the live client, but the reroll process and banner logic are expected to remain mostly the same.
You can safely use this guide as a reference for the global release.
1. How Rerolling Works
Rerolling in Chaos Zero: Nightmare is designed to be straightforward. When you first launch the game, you’ll start on a guest account, which can later be linked to your email or platform ID.
Steps Overview:
Start the game using a guest account (default at launch).
Play through Prologue 1–2 and Chapter 1–2 — these include the basic combat and roguelike tutorials.
After completing Chapter 1-2 and defeating the mock boss, you’ll unlock the Gacha (Rescue) feature.
Check your inbox/mailbox for pre-registration rewards and milestone bonuses.
Begin your first set of pulls on your chosen banner.
At this point, you’ll typically have at least 20 pulls available, with more potentially coming from login and event bonuses.
2. How Many Summons You’ll Get
At launch, most players will start with around 20 free summons, but the actual total could be higher depending on release rewards.
The developers mentioned additional bonuses (up to 200 total pulls) may be tied to early missions or login milestones, though some of these are unlocked through progression.
You can expect:
- 20 guaranteed pulls (minimum)
- Possible early bonus rewards for reaching level 5 or completing early story missions
- Free 4-star Vanguard unit as part of pre-registration bonuses
3. Skipping the Story to Save Time
While you can’t outright skip the story cutscenes, you can fast-forward dialogue to make rerolling faster.
Simply:
- Tap and hold the speed icon (top-right corner of the dialogue box)
- The story will play at 3x speed
- Continue until you unlock the gacha function after Chapter 1–2
This reduces reroll time to around 20–25 minutes per run if you play efficiently.
4. Choosing the Right Banner
When you unlock the gacha screen, you’ll see three primary banners:
- Standard Banner – Regular pool with all combatants.
- Beginner Banner – Discounted pulls (20% cheaper) with a guaranteed 5-star at 50 summons.
- Premium Banner – Special or limited characters, often tied to early events.
Recommended: Pull on the Beginner Banner
The Beginner Banner is the most reroll-friendly:
- Guaranteed 5-star at 50 rescues (pity).
- You can still pull early 5-stars before the guarantee, and it doesn’t reset your pity counter.
- Many players report getting two or even three 5-stars within the first 50 pulls.
Example:
Some players pulled two 5-stars before pity and then received a guaranteed third one at rescue #50.
So your goal is simple — reroll until you get a strong early 5-star before your pity, then continue naturally until 50 to secure another one.
5. Which 5-Stars to Reroll For
All 5-stars in Chaos Zero: Nightmare are viable, but certain ones stand out early due to their raw strength, simplicity, or team synergy.
| Character | Role | Why They’re Good |
|---|---|---|
| Khalipi (Kalipia) | Tank / AoE | Massive shields + huge area damage; easy to play, great early game carry. |
| Magna | Tank / Counter | Reliable shield generator, excellent sustain and scaling defense. |
| Min | DPS / Burst | High single-target and AoE nuke potential, great boss killer. |
| Ren | DPS / Single Target | Precise, strong sword-user with massive damage on focus builds. |
| Hugo | DPS / Extra Attacks | High tempo attacker who thrives with fast decks and multi-hit setups. |
If you’re unsure who to pick, Khalipi is widely recommended for beginners — she’s powerful, simple to use, and effective across both early and late-game content.
6. Resetting and Rerolling Efficiently
If your pulls don’t go as planned, you can reset your account and reroll immediately.
Method 1 – Guest Account Reset (Preferred)
- Open the top-right menu (three-line icon).
- Go to Settings → User.
- Select Delete Data or Clear Account Data.
- Confirm the deletion.
- Return to the title screen and start again with a new guest account.
This is the fastest method — it resets your data without needing to re-download the entire game.
7. Expected Outcomes from a Good Reroll
A strong reroll result looks like this:
- One high-tier 5-star (early pull before pity)
- One guaranteed 5-star from rescue #50
- At least one strong 4-star support (like Nia or Marbel)
This setup ensures both power and stability as you progress through Chaos and roguelike stages.
