Sae Refresh Part 2 Update 8 continues the Sae rework and delivers a number of quality-of-life features, new cosmetic items, an MVP, and focused balance tweaks for several rulers. The patch also adds new PS+ admin commands to control mercy rules and fixes several stability/physics issues that have affected mobile and netplay.

Azure Latch Sae Refresh Part 2 (Update 8) – New Codes, Emote

New PS+ commands

Two new server/admin commands give hosts finer control over how matches end:

noMercy — disables the mercy rule entirely. Use when you want full matches regardless of score spread.

mercyThreshold — sets a static mercy threshold. If a team leads by x or more goals, the match ends. Set to 0 or a negative number to reset to the default mercy behavior.

Default mercy rule (how it works if mercyThreshold is not set)

The default formula ends the match when the leading team’s goal count exceeds the trailing team’s by:

5 + ceil((trailing_goals^2) / 5)

(That is: 5 plus the smallest integer ≥ (trailing team’s goals squared divided by 5).)

Practical note: against a team with very few goals, the threshold is close to +5; as the trailing team scores, the required lead increases nonlinearly. Use mercyThreshold to enforce a simpler static rule for custom lobbies.

Sae — Final Changes (Sae Refresh Part 2)

Sae’s kit has gone through meaningful mechanical polish and flow UX changes. Highlights and what they mean for play:

Beautiful Destruction

Hold W/S now triggers 2-part Perfect Touch.

The counter was removed and replaced with full iframes during the move.

Practical effect: Sae’s Perfect Touch is now more consistent and forgiving; timing windows are simplified because of the iframes. Expect better survivability during the execution, and new windows for counterplay against timed interrupts.

Nutmeg Steal

Nutmeg used to steal from an Isagi (or NEL Isagi) now triggers a special cutscene.

This is mostly a visual/tasteful change, but it gives a clear audiovisual cue for clutch steals — useful for broadcasting and highlight plays.

Cross Elastico

New private VFX that only the user sees.

Keeps opponents from gaining extra information while letting the performer enjoy the flash.

Overtime Awakening

Complete overhaul.

Broad redesign — players should expect different activation sequencing and outcomes under overtime. Test in customs to learn new timings and counters.

Audio

1/50 chance to play an alternate theme on base flow.

Very low chance audio variation to keep matches feeling fresh.

New Content

New Gamepass: Custom Goal SFX — apply a personalized sound when your team scores.

New MVP: Kiyora’s Triumph — new MVP reward.

New Emote: Kickback — a duo emote for two players.

Balance changes and notes

Below are the meaningful mechanical changes and quick tips for adapting.

Shidou

Picking up the ball with Draconic Rush after being magic-passed will now trigger Dragon Drive.

Tip: Use magic passes into a moving Shidou + Draconic Rush for safer Dragon Drive sequencing and to chain aggressive plays.

NEL Isagi

Meta-Burst Point

  • No longer ignores iframes.
  • Cooldown increased by 5 seconds.
  • Ball trap speed increased by an additional 30%.
  • Net effect: harder to reliably window through invulnerability, but faster ball control after activation.

Neo Direct Shot

Power +8.

Tip: Expect shorter windows to punish Neo Direct Shot attempts, but when it lands it hits noticeably harder — adapt positioning.

Don Lorenzo

Horrific Intercept

Hitbox radius +8% total.

Frame lifetime -0.12s.

Net effect: slightly wider area but shorter active time — better at catching spread plays but requires tighter timing.

Chigiri

Non-Stop Dribble

Flow variant can only be activated twice per flow.

Tip: Plan your dribble usage more deliberately in long flows.

Golden Zone

120 second cooldown.

No longer cancels the flow.

Tip: Golden Zone is now a strategic uptime tool rather than an all-in flow breaker.

Rin

Curve Shot

Minimum height set to 0.27 (percent of play area).

Tip: Shots will arc a bit higher, changing bounce/collision timing.

Center Of Gravity

Cooldown +6 seconds.

Flow

Duration -5 seconds.

Crash Shot no longer cancels flow but may be used only once per flow.

Trivela

Can be used only once per flow.

Tip: Rin flows are now shorter and more delicate; commit to fewer high-impact moves per flow.

Nagi

Aerial Control

Shot part now has VFX — clearer telegraph for opponents.

General changes & fixes

Volley temporarily removed due to optimization issues — may return after further work.

Mobile crash fixes implemented.

Ball physics lag improvements.

Goalkeeper throw now travels slightly lower.

Ball iframes for goalkeepers reduced — keep tighter timing when contesting GK pickups.

Codes (redeem in-game)

  • StillHalfBaked — 20,000
  • PartTwoOfTwo — 20,000
  • JumpAllMyCells — 20,000

Redeem these from the codes screen in the main menu before they expire.

Tactical implications — short guide

Sae players: practice the new Perfect Touch timing in customs. The added iframes let you be aggressive during approach, but opponents can counter with longer-range interruptions.

NEL Isagi matchups: be aware Meta-Burst Point no longer bypasses iframes — use timed invulnerability to negate it. Conversely, Isagi players should leverage the faster ball-trap to secure possession once it connects.

Chigiri players: manage your flow charges — Non-Stop Dribble and Golden Zone are more limited; use Golden Zone as a setup rather than as a flow-ender.

Rin players: flows are shorter and require precision — save Trivela and Crash Shot for high-value moments since they are limited per flow.

Lobby hosts: mercyThreshold is great for friendly tournaments (set a static number). Use noMercy for exhibition matches.

This patch focuses on polishing Sae’s kit, reining in some high-frequency flow exploits, and giving admins better control over match length. There are several QoL and stability fixes that should improve mobile and netplay reliability. If you’re making a guide or a video, the Sae Perfect Touch iframe change and the Meta-Burst Point rework on NEL Isagi are the most dramatic mechanical shifts to showcase.
