Traits are the single most important system in Anime Auto Chess. You can have strong units, good positioning, and solid gear, but if your traits are weak, your run will collapse sooner or later. On the other hand, landing one powerful trait early can completely carry an average team to victory.

This guide explains every major trait, what it actually does in real gameplay, and why it belongs in its tier, so you know what to lock, what to tolerate, and what to instantly reroll.

How Trait Tiers Work

  • S+ Tier – Run-defining traits that massively increase win rate
  • S Tier – Extremely strong but sometimes situational
  • A Tier – Reliable and impactful in the right setups
  • B Tier – Solid filler traits that stabilize runs
  • C Tier – Temporary traits you should replace later
  • D Tier – Almost always a reroll, little to no real impact

S+ Tier Traits (Best in the Game)

These traits alone can decide your run.

Bladem
Bladem is overloaded in every way possible. It gives attack damage, ability power, mana gain, ability haste, attack speed, dodge, parry, and then adds Blade Engage and God Slayer on top. This trait turns any damage unit into a blender and works in almost every composition. If you see Bladem, you lock it instantly.

Harvester
Harvester combines strong offensive stats with one of the best effects in the game: execute. The soul harvest mechanic instantly finishes enemies under a health threshold, making boss fights faster and safer. This trait saves time, preserves health, and ends fights before they become dangerous.

Godspeed
Godspeed massively increases attack speed and overall combat tempo. Faster attacks mean faster procs, faster kills, and smoother clears. It may look simple on paper, but in practice, it is one of the strongest DPS-boosting traits available.

Deity
Deity is arguably the strongest trait in Anime Auto Chess. It grants nearly every stat you want: damage, defense, mana, haste, attack speed, and then adds Judgment and Ascend. Any unit with Deity becomes a raid boss. Its rarity is justified because it can single-handedly define a run.

Bloodlust
Sustain plus damage is always broken in auto battlers. Bloodlust allows units to stay alive while continuously dealing damage, enabling snowballing and aggressive playstyles. This trait scales extremely well and is effective from early game to late game.

S Tier Traits (Extremely Strong)

Scholar
Scholar provides massive ability power, mana gain, and ability haste. When placed on the right mage or ability-focused unit, it is devastating. However, because mage options are currently limited, it is slightly more situational than S+ traits.

AD Carrier
This is the most straightforward physical damage trait in the game. It boosts attack damage, attack speed, crit chance, and crit damage. Any auto-attacking carry instantly spikes in power with this trait.

Scaredy Cat
Scaredy Cat looks defensive, but it is deceptively powerful. Movement speed, attack speed, mana gain, dodge, and parry make units extremely hard to kill while maintaining DPS uptime. It shines especially on squishy carries that need survivability.

Guardian
Guardian offers massive defensive value for the entire team. It buys time, and time equals damage in Anime Auto Chess. This trait is especially strong when your carries are already doing good damage and just need protection.

Adept
Adept accelerates your entire run by granting bonus experience. Faster leveling means stronger units earlier, easier fights, more rerolls, and better traits. Its power is indirect, but extremely impactful.

A Tier Traits (Strong and Reliable)

Nimble III
At this level, movement speed actually matters. Units reposition better, survive longer, and maintain damage uptime. While it does not directly increase DPS, the indirect value is very noticeable.

Critical Chance III
This is where crit chance becomes meaningful. At 15%, it enables proper crit builds and synergizes well with AD Carrier. A strong late-game scaling option.

B Tier Traits (Good Fillers)

Strong II
Provides a simple attack damage boost. It scales fine early to mid game but is never exciting. This is a trait you tolerate while rolling for something better.

Resistance II
Defensive and boring, but effective. The resistance adds up on frontline units and helps stabilize runs.

Fortitude II
Bonus health is always useful for tanks and bruisers. It will not win games by itself, but it helps prevent early collapses.

C Tier Traits (Temporary Only)

Critical Chance I
5% crit chance is too low to build around. Acceptable early, but should be replaced quickly.

Intelligence I
The ability power bonus is weak and scales poorly. Fine early game, bad long term.

Death Hand II
Attack speed is always useful, but 10% is not game-changing. Works as a placeholder.

Strong I
Very small damage increase. Outclassed quickly as the game progresses.

Flexibility II
Better than Flexibility I, but still unreliable. Dodge and parry are inconsistent and not worth building around.

D Tier Traits (Reroll Immediately)

Nimble Eye
Movement speed at this level does almost nothing. Your unit still gets hit and still dies.

Flexibility I
The dodge and parry values are so low that they are effectively meaningless.

Reinforce I
The armor gain is negligible and does not scale. This trait will not save your unit in real fights.

Final Advice on Traits

Traits matter more than units in many runs.
A bad unit with a top-tier trait can outperform a good unit with weak traits.

  • Do not lock weak traits just because they sound good
  • Farm rerolls patiently
  • One S or S+ trait early can carry your entire run
  • Replace C and D tier traits as soon as possible

Mastering traits is how you consistently win in Anime Auto Chess.
