The A Desert developer just dropped a massive Halloween update — and it’s more than just pumpkins and decorations. This patch brings a brand-new Moped vehicle, a reworked Sandbox menu, and plenty of spooky-themed additions that shake up the game’s usual survival grind. Here’s everything you need to know before you jump back into the desert.

1. Halloween Lobby Changes

As soon as you load in, you’ll notice the Halloween-themed lobby.
The classic car hood now has a pumpkin decoration, and there’s a new background character named Jason, lying on the sofa — a subtle nod to the Halloween slasher vibe.

However, this festive rework came with one drawback:
The leaderboard and driving score system have been temporarily removed, possibly due to hacking or score manipulation issues. The developer hinted that they’ll return once things stabilize.

2. The New Moped Vehicle

The star of the update is the Moped, inspired by real-world Soviet Karpati bikes. But don’t expect it to appear in your starter house — you’ll need to find it randomly inside buildings or spawn it through the Sandbox menu.

How to Spawn the Moped

  1. Open the Sandbox Menu
  2. Go to Vehicles → Moped
  3. Choose your Color (example: Red)
  4. Set Metal Quality (1 = clean, higher = worn)
  5. Fill with 6L of Gas
  6. Spawn and ride

Once spawned, you can manually mix oil and gas to start it — just like a real two-stroke engine. Use the gas can to add both fuel and oil, then press R in sync with the engine sound to start it.

Tip: The Moped requires patience — starting it is intentionally tricky to mimic real ignition mechanics.

3. Moped Performance Review

This little machine isn’t built for speed demons, but it’s a fun addition nonetheless.
Here’s what early testing shows:

  • Top Speed: ~63 km/h
  • Acceleration (0–60): ~26 seconds
  • Gears: 3 (manual shift, no RPM meter)
  • Climbing Ability: Struggles on steep hills
  • Durability: Standard (no special resistance)

You can’t swap its engine — V8s and Electric motors won’t fit. The moped frame simply doesn’t support large components. Wheels are also fixed, so customization is limited for now.

4. Reworked Sandbox Menu

The Sandbox system got a full overhaul with new features and a premium version called Sandbox Plus.

Standard Sandbox Additions

  • Weather Control (Rain, Clear, Night)
  • Time Control (Instant switching)
  • NPC & Zombie Spawn options
  • Fluid Selection (Gas, Oil, etc.)

The only downside? Changing the weather isn’t instant — it takes a few seconds for clouds to gather before the rain starts.

5. Sandbox Plus (150 Robux Gamepass)

Sandbox Plus is a paid upgrade for players who want total freedom.
Costing 150 Robux, it’s surprisingly fair compared to other gamepasses. The dev confirmed it’s not pay-to-win — more of a “fun tools” package.

Sandbox Plus Features

  • Infinite Health, Hunger, and Stamina
  • No Ragdoll on impact
  • Unbreakable Cars

Once activated, you’ll need to reset your game for it to start working. After that, you can drive, crash, and fight zombies without taking a scratch. Perfect for testing or creating cinematic scenes.

6. Halloween Additions & Items

The event also adds a handful of themed collectibles and decorations:

Item Type Function
Skull Decoration Attach to vehicles or objects
Cookie Food Consumable item
Corn Candy Food Halloween-exclusive snack
Candy Cane Food Christmas crossover treat
Ladder Utility Can attach to trailers or climb onto roofs
Skeleton Doll Decoration Found in attic of starter house

The ladder is surprisingly useful — you can use it to climb buildings, trailers, or even shipwrecks. Meanwhile, food items like candy and cookies are mostly cosmetic for now.

7. Combat & Ammo Testing

The Sandbox also lets you experiment with weapon ammo counts — theoretically.
Choosing “INF” or “100” ammo for your shotgun doesn’t work correctly right now, likely due to a bug. Once you run out of shells, you’ll have to reload manually.

Expect a fix in a future hotpatch — the dev is aware of these issues.

The Moped & Halloween Update is easily one of the best thematic refreshes A Desert has had this year. The Moped itself feels grounded and nostalgic, while Sandbox Plus opens the door for crazy experiments. There are still a few bugs — weather delay, ammo glitch, engine limits — but overall, this update adds charm and personality to an already solid survival sandbox.
