The latest A Desert Electric Engine Rework Update introduces a series of mechanical and gameplay improvements that aim to rebalance electric vehicles, enhance driving visibility, and fix long-standing bugs related to speed, scoring, and map visuals. If you’re returning to the game or grinding leaderboards, this guide walks you through every major change in the update with full testing results and strategic takeaways.

A Desert Electric Engine Rework Update – New Ramp System

Electric Engine Rework

Electric engines, particularly when paired with the Good Brown Battery, previously suffered from severe battery drain once you hit the 10 km mark. This update introduces a rebalance that significantly improves electric engine viability over longer distances.

  • Vehicle used: Lada with electric engine
  • Battery: Good Brown Battery
  • 3 km – Battery status: Green (Full)
  • 7 km – Battery status: Yellow (~50%)
  • 10 km – Drive completed successfully, no rapid drain

Electric engine performance is now reliable across 10 km runs, making it much more sustainable for travel challenges. Battery usage is now linear and balanced, especially when driving in straight paths.

Ramps Now Spawn in Random Locations

Before the patch, ramps only appeared at the starter house. Now, they can spawn dynamically at random points across the map.

Gameplay Impact:

  • Enhances the exploration loop
  • Introduces unexpected jump opportunities mid-run
  • Encourages replayability by changing ramp positions per session

At 10 km, a random ramp spawned. The vehicle launched at 140 km/h, flipped forward, and crashed – showing that the feature is live and functional.

Travel Distance Score System

The driving distance system has been replaced with a new tracking backend, resetting everyone’s score to zero. This system now tracks your highest run distance, but has a notable flaw.

Mechanics:

  • When you drive farther than your last saved distance, the new value is recorded.
  • If you drive less, your score is overwritten with the lower value.

Example:

  • Drove 15 km – Saved as 18.3 km
  • Drove again, reached 6.1 km – Score changed to 6.1 km

This overwrite behavior is likely unintended and may be patched in a future fix.

Best Practice:

Only return to the lobby after beating your last saved distance to avoid accidental score downgrades.

Van Speedometer Correction and Acceleration Fix

What Changed:

Previously, the van’s speedometer was inaccurate, leading players to underestimate its performance.

Before vs After:

  • Old 0–60 km/h time: 24 seconds
  • Updated 0–60 km/h time: 13.57 seconds
  • Top Speed corrected from 80 km/h to 180 km/h

Takeaway:

The van is now a legitimate vehicle choice with realistic acceleration and a usable top speed. It should no longer be dismissed in travel-based events or leaderboards.

Headlight Range Increased – Night Driving is Easier

What Changed:

Headlight projection has been doubled, from 60 studs to 120 studs. This greatly improves visibility during nighttime driving or in low-light weather.

Use Cases:

  • Safer high-speed driving at night
  • Easier terrain recognition
  • Reduced collisions in dark environments

Rendering Fix

What Changed:

When viewing the map using camera distance (Q key), players used to see floating or bugged structures at far range. This has been fixed.

Result:

  • Buildings and rocks now render correctly at distance
  • Camera look-around functions with no visual errors

This improves immersion and visual clarity, especially when scouting terrain before a long drive.

This update delivers targeted improvements to vehicle handling, scoring mechanics, and environment consistency. Electric vehicles are more viable, exploration feels more dynamic with randomized ramps, and visibility is finally practical for long nighttime drives. While the distance scoring system has a potential bug, the changes overall mark a strong step forward in gameplay quality.
