The Frog Invasion Update for 99 Nights in the Forest introduced a brand-new class, the Poison Master, alongside balance tweaks to existing ones. With more than a dozen classes now available, it’s the right time to break down the best and worst classes in the game. This tier list ranks every class based on solo performance, team utility, cost efficiency, and late-game potential.

99 Nights in the Forest Classes Tier List – Frog Invasion Update

S Tier – The Best of the Best

These classes dominate both solo and team play, offering exceptional utility or raw power.

Cyborg (600 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Alien Armor + Laser Cannon
  • Strengths:
    • Huge AoE damage with auto-recharging laser cannon.
    • Excellent night vision.
    • Perks increase damage, restore energy on kills, and reward aggressive play.
  • Why S Tier: Cyborg is arguably the strongest late-game option, able to melt strongholds solo in under two minutes.

Alien (100 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Ray Gun (infinite ammo, recharges automatically)
  • Strengths:
    • Built-in night vision.
    • Faster sprint when weapon is fully charged.
    • One of the best value-for-cost classes.
  • Why S Tier: Affordable, versatile, and powerful in both early and late game.

Pyromaniac (600 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Flamethrower
  • Strengths:
    • Burning enemies boost movement speed.
    • Food auto-cooks when dropped.
    • Higher efficiency with fuel canisters at level 2+.
  • Why S Tier: Despite relying on fuel canisters, Pyromaniac is lethal in swarm fights. If fuel was more common, it would rival Cyborg.

A Tier – Strong but Situational

Excellent choices that shine under certain conditions.

Poison Master (NEW – Frog Update)

  • Starting Gear: Blowpipe + Poison Armor
  • Strengths:
    • Strong poison damage over time.
    • Chance for enemies to spread poison on death.
    • Extra damage against poisoned enemies.
  • Why A Tier: A fantastic crowd-control class, perfect for clearing groups. Falls just short of S tier due to weaker boss-slaying ability.

Assassin (500 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Katana + 120 Kunai
  • Strengths:
    • 10% faster sprint speed.
    • Katana excels in both speed and power.
    • Throwing knives help in early-game clear.
  • Why A Tier: Deadly for skilled players and speedruns, though reduced HP makes it risky.

Lumberjack (70 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Good Axe
  • Strengths:
    • Chance for bonus logs and saplings.
    • Strong early-game weapon.
  • Why A Tier: Essential for resource-heavy runs and solid in both utility and combat.

B Tier – Good, But Not Essential

Reliable picks, especially in team play.

Medic (40 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Bandages
  • Strengths:
    • 5x faster revives.
    • Restores more HP/hunger when reviving.
    • Level 3 upgrades a bandage into a medkit.
  • Why B Tier: Excellent for co-op survival, average in solo play.

Fisherman (50 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Fishing Rod
  • Strengths:
    • Faster fishing, instant cast, and better hook rates at higher levels.
    • Can be a source of food and scrap.
  • Why B Tier: More viable after recent changes, but still weaker compared to combat-heavy classes.

Blacksmith (200 Diamonds)

  • Starting Gear: Hammer
  • Strengths:
    • Can craft items from higher-tier benches (up to Tier 4).
    • Discounts and bonus scrap chance from grinder.
  • Why B Tier: Very helpful in team crafting runs, though costly for solo players.

C Tier – Average at Best

Playable, but usually outclassed.

  • Scavenger (25 Diamonds) – Extra sack space and faster chest looting.
  • Ranger (70 Diamonds) – Revolver start is nice, but ammo is limited.
  • Farmer (80 Diamonds) – Can grow apple trees or pumpkins, but farming isn’t a strong strategy.

D Tier – Weak Options

These classes are fun to try but generally not worth the investment.

  • Camper (10 Diamonds) – Flashlight and reduced hunger drain; useful only for beginners.
  • Hunter (40 Diamonds) – Bear traps and higher drop rates, but too situational.
  • Berserker (100 Diamonds) – Auto-revive and bonus damage at low HP, but risky and inconsistent.

F Tier – Avoid These

Classes with little to no real impact on survival.

  • Decorator (40 Diamonds) – Cosmetic furniture, no survival benefits.
  • Cook (40 Diamonds) – Faster crockpot cooking and slight food buffs, but nearly useless late game.

Final Tier List Snapshot

S Tier: Cyborg, Alien, Pyromaniac
A Tier: Poison Master, Assassin, Lumberjack
B Tier: Medic, Fisherman, Blacksmith
C Tier: Scavenger, Ranger, Farmer
D Tier: Camper, Hunter, Berserker
F Tier: Decorator, Cook

Which Class Should You Choose?

  • Best All-Rounder: Alien – low cost, strong utility, and easy to use.
  • Best for Late Game: Cyborg – unmatched AoE and tankiness.
  • Best New Pick: Poison Master – a poison-spreading powerhouse for crowd fights.
  • Avoid: Cook and Decorator – they add little to no value for survival.
