Want to dive into Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos but not sure where to start? Whether you’re coming from Vampire Survivors or you’re a Diablo loot enthusiast, this game blends both styles into a fast-paced, gear-driven survival experience.

In this Tower of Babel: Survivors of Chaos Beginner Guide Wiki, I’ll walk you through the essentials—gameplay basics, leveling, loot, classes, and the best strategies to survive the chaos.

Core Gameplay Explained

At its heart, Tower of Babel is a survivor-style auto-combat game. Think of it as you being the moving target—your character auto-attacks while enemies swarm in from every direction.

  • Your role? Focus on dodging, positioning, and surviving.

  • As you kill enemies, they drop glowing crystal-like XP orbs.

  • Collecting enough XP levels you up and lets you pick one of three random upgrades:

    • New skills (like orbiting ice orbs or area-of-effect attacks)

    • Upgrades to current skills

    • Raw stat boosts like damage or movement speed

The flow is simple but addictive: kill, dodge, upgrade, repeat.

Loot System (The Diablo Twist)

This is where Tower of Babel gets unique. Loot matters—a lot. Monsters can drop gear like:

  • Weapons

  • Helmets

  • Armor

  • Accessories

However, there’s a twist:

  • You can’t equip gear during a run.

  • Everything goes into your inventory stash, and you’ll equip them after the level ends or if you die.

  • You’ll lose some items to a goblin-like looter, but your best items are safe.

Back at your camp hub, you’ll get to:

  • Sort your gear

  • Equip the best pieces

  • See your character visually change based on what they’re wearing (a nice RPG touch)

Gear comes in rarity tiers from gray (basic) to orange (legendary), each with stats and special bonuses. Some pieces even enhance specific skills—creating powerful build synergies.

Progression & Permanent Upgrades

Even if a run ends in defeat, progression carries forward thanks to permanent upgrades. At your base camp, you can invest gold into stats like:

  • Strength – Likely boosts melee or weapon damage

  • Dexterity – Might affect movement or crits

  • Intelligence – Probably scales mana or magic damage

Each upgrade is small, but they stack over time, making each run easier and more rewarding.

Skills & Combat Strategy

You don’t just collect loot—you build a custom skill loadout as you go. Skills come in different types:

  • Passive Skills: Auto-trigger effects like orbiting orbs, falling meteors, or health regen.

  • Active Abilities: Use mana to cast powerful spells or AoE attacks.

  • Conditional Skills: Trigger based on events like critical hits or damage taken.

Combat becomes chaotic and satisfying once you start stacking multiple effects, turning your character into a moving engine of destruction.

Playable Classes

Though the demo limits your options, the full game promises multiple classes, each with:

  • Unique starting stats

  • Exclusive skill pools

  • Playstyle differences

Expect some to be tanky warriors, others spellcasters, and maybe even rogues or summoners.

Hub & NPC Features (Demo Notes)

The hub area has a few locked NPCs in the demo, hinting at features to come:

  • More merchants

  • Possibly crafting or enchantments

  • Maybe even quest or lore givers
