If you’re new to Anime Run Kingdom, choosing the right units early on can make a massive difference. This Anime Run Kingdom Tier List guide is built specifically for beginners and does not include evolved units, since those require 50–100+ hours of grinding. We’re focusing only on banner, event, and battle pass units that are realistically accessible in the early game.
Let’s break it down tier by tier so you can build a strong starter team and make progress without wasting resources.
Anime Run Kingdom Beginner Tier List Guide (No Evolutions)
S Tier
These units will carry you through early game content with ease.
Broly
Role: Tank
Why He’s Great: You get Broly for free, and he’s arguably the best tank in the game (non-evo). His bulk and reliability make him ideal for soaking up damage while your DPS units do their job. Skip all other tanks for now—Broly is all you need.
Mash
Role: Melee DPS
Why He’s Great: Mash received a huge buff to his attack types, making him an absolute powerhouse. While he’s single-target focused, his skill melts bosses, and his regular attacks hit hard too. Great for beginners who need a strong damage dealer.
Mihawk
Role: AoE DPS
Why He’s Great: Think of Mihawk as an AoE version of Mash. He’s amazing for clearing enemy waves quickly, although his boss damage isn’t as high. Excellent for story progression and dungeons.
Fion
Role: Stun & Utility
Why She’s Great: She doesn’t do a ton of auto-attack damage, but her stun ability is very effective. Great support character and slightly better than Mihawk when used strategically.
A Tier
Zora
Role: Tank/Utility
Why She’s Good: Summons a minion that acts like a damage sponge, which makes her feel tanky. While not as strong as Broly in raw tanking, she’s excellent in mid-late game raids. Not essential for early game, but useful later on.
Saber
Role: Melee DPS
Why She’s Good: Requires some skill to use well. Her stance-switching mechanic makes her complex but very deadly in the hands of an experienced player. Needs cooldown reduction to shine.
Yor
Role: Assassin
Why She’s Good: A solid middle ground between Mihawk’s AoE and Kilawa’s assassin playstyle. She’s reliable, though not the top priority.
Aqua
Role: Healer
Why She’s Good: The best healer currently available, but healing isn’t super important early on. Still, if you want a support unit, she’s the one to get.
Slime (Event Unit)
Role: Bleed Tank
Why She’s Good: A tank that deals percent-based bleed damage. Not as bulky as Broly, but great against enemies with high HP. Works well with bleed-based teams and shines when paired with Sid.
Sid (Event Unit)
Role: Assassin/DPS
Why He’s Good: A solid pick overall. Strong abilities and good synergy with other dagger/bleed units like Slime. Worth picking up if you unlock him during events.
B Tier
Byakuya
Role: Mage
Why He’s Okay: Can do decent work if you’re lacking better units, but not worth chasing as a beginner. Evolves into something better eventually, but early game performance is average.
Frieza
Role: Mage
Why He’s Okay: Similar case as Byakuya. He works, but there are stronger and easier-to-obtain mages out there.
Saber
-
(Same placement as before – situational)
Gone
Role: DPS
Why He’s Okay: Recently buffed. Solid damage dealer, but lacks survivability. Only becomes notable if you give him a perfect trait, which isn’t beginner-friendly.
Yuu (Shadow Event Unit)
-
Why He’s Okay: Underwhelming overall, especially without investment.
Eriya (Battle Pass)
-
Why She’s Okay: Decent if you’re progressing through the pass, but not worth grinding for over stronger, easier options.
C Tier
Asta
-
Role: Tank
-
Why He’s Not Good: Just a worse version of Broly. No reason to use him if you have Broly.
Kimpachi
-
Role: Hybrid Tank/DPS
-
Why He’s Not Good: Doesn’t excel in either role. Just gets outclassed by other mythics.
Assa (Battle Pass)
-
Why She’s Meh: Not bad, but nothing special unless evolved. Her current stats and abilities don’t stand out in early game.
D Tier
These units may be viable later in the game, but they are either too weak or require heavy investment to be useful for beginners.
Bochchi (Buchchi)
-
Role: Support
-
Why She’s Bad for Beginners: Doesn’t deal damage, relies on evolved builds to shine. Terrible pick for early progression.
Kilawa
-
Role: Assassin
-
Why He’s Bad: Worst assassin in the game right now. Low damage and survivability make him irrelevant. Use Mihawk or Yor instead.
Luffy & Edward
-
Role: Hybrid
-
Why They’re Bad: These two try to tank and deal damage, but fail at both. Low HP and mediocre damage = wasted slot in your team.
